The gospel is 1 Corinthians 15 3,4. The power of God unto salvation not diluted by wisdom of words or threatenings of hell. The apostles were witnessess of His resurrection. The gospel is a portion of scripture briefly described in the above verse. The power behind the gospel is revealed in Ephesians 1:16-21 Paul prayed that you would understand the power behind the message, that he preached Christ crucified , not with wisdom of words . Lest the cross of Christ be made of none effect. He preached in simplicity so our faith should stand in the power of God not the wisdom of man

This is addressed by Christ to the pretenders and hypocrites. The false professors of Christianity. It has no relevance to genuine believers who obey Christ and honor Him as Lord.
Nemiah, have you truncated the reading, taken it out of text, in order to get your belief across? Actually, Jesus was addressing us all in Luke 6 and giving us His guidance:

46 “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I command?
47* I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them.e
48That one is like a person building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock;
when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built.
49But the one who listens and does not act is like a person who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, it collapsed at once and was completely destroyed.”

It's prettry obvious that Jesus was addressing all. Either you do act on His words or you don't act on His words..

It also applies to people who were seduced and follow false prophets, false teachers or false doctrine of men.

i call these people Members of the Grace Doctrine. they are so convinced they are saved, they think the road is paved for them even if they choose not to do the Will of the Father.

example:
thinking that God made some people for Salvation and the rest for Hell so it's a waste of time to Witness to the Lost because they've been predetermined for Hell anyway. theoretically, they preach against judging but are the most judgmental of anyone.
I believe you are Mixing Up Calvin's "election" doctrine with God's Gospel
Of GRACE In The Revelation Of The Mystery TO
Paul in Romans Through
Philemon, In Today's

Dispensation Of The GRACE (Doctrine) Of God!!

Whereby, By "GRACE Through faith," we, who have humbled ourselves, NOT
offering our "works", but Totally trusting In Christ AND HIS FINISHED Work
On The Cross
, have been FORGIVEN of ALL sin, AND made ETERNAL
"members" of HIS Body! (Eph 1:7, 5:30; Col 2:13).

MoreOver, the Reason (some) "GRACE members" are "So Convinced
we are ETERNALLY Saved," is Because we do NOT "fight God," But BELIEVE

What HE Has Said, Plainly And Clearly In Dozens Of Scripture Passages!:

God's OPERATION On All HIS New-born babes In Christ
+
God's Eternal Assurance

And thus, Eternally Possess The Wonderful:

GRACE And Peace Of God...

And FurtherMoreOver, we Also understand Grace (NOT a "license to sin" but),
Again What God Teaches us in Titus 2:11-12:

"For The GRACE Of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all
men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we
should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world"

And FURTHERESTMoreOver, IF we don't "do as we should," then what?
Judgmental critics "condemn us to Eternal HellFire and Brimstone." But
The God Of GRACE Teaches:

In HIS (Harmonious With ALL The Above) Word Of Truth = "loss of rewards"
At The Bema Judgment Seat Of Christ
(1Co 3:8-15), Note vs 15:

"If any man's work shall be burned, he Shall Suffer
LOSS: but he himself Shall Be Saved; yet so as by fire."
(compare 1Co 5:5 in harmony)

Precious friend(s), believest thou This UNChangeable Word Of Truth?

Yes! I feel confident at the moment i have nothing on my conscience…i hope always to be like that. I believe i have hidden sin, that is hidden from me, i don’t recognize…but He does. I hope he reveals that to me me. I don’t want to displease the One I love in any way.

I hope in time to be more confirmed to exactly how He is.
yes that’s exactly how it works there’s hidden things in each of our lives we don’t realize we’re even doing as time passes jesusnis bringing those things to light showing us the thkngs that are binding us and bringing us to the realization we have to repent of thy is thing he’s brought to light for us that was hidden

and then as we progress and begin to submit our Will to the new he’s creating In us he moves on to the next issue never demanding more than we’re capable of but always strengthening and quickening us to be stronger and stand taller walk better

in the end it is what you yourself understand that constitutes sin if you aren’t aware of something it’s not imputed

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
‭‭James‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

only you actually know when you’ve done something against your own conscience and the knowledge of Christ in you because it’s based on what you know

“And that servant, which knew his Lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭12:47-48‬ ‭KJV‬‬

as we learn from Jesus our understanding grows and capability grows and also accountability comes with understanding

truthfully your already understanding Jesus better than many Christian’s ever do

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You need to be baptized (not water) in the name of the Father . Eph 3: 14-15 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of (by) whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,...When one is baptized in the name of the Father, he first acknowledges that he is a sinner, repents, and then turns to Him for forgiveness. Acts 11: 18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. It is the Father who grants the repentance that is necessary to gain life. This repentance is not a gift that can be refused. Repentance is a state of being and once it is granted, you have it. Luke 13: 3 I tell you, Nay. But, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Repentance is necessary Luke 5: 31-32 And Jesus, answering, said unto them, They that are well need not a physician, but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. It is Christ and those in His spiritual body that call sinners to repentance by their teaching, but it is the Father who chooses because it is He who grants repentance. Eph 1: 3-4 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, According as He ( the Father) hath chosen us in Him ( the Son) before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him ( the Father) in love. It is the Father who has chosen us as belonging to the spiritual body of Christ and therefore, we are in Christ.
You need to be baptized (not water) in the name of the Son. You are baptized in the name of the Son when Jesus is preached to you and you believe and trust in the Father's plan for salvation through Jesus Christ. Acts 8: 12 But when they believed Phillip preaching the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Notice that they were baptized (not water) "when they believed". 1 Cor 1: 21 For after that, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. People get saved when Jesus is preached to them as their Lord and Savior. Acts 19: 2-5 He (Paul) said unto them, have you received the Holy Spirit since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there is any Holy Spirit. And he said unto them, Unto what, then, were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people that they should believe on him who should come after him, that is on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized ( not water) in the name of the Lord Jesus. When did they get baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus? Not when they got water baptized, but when they heard about Jesus and believed.
You need to be baptized (not water) in the name of the Holy Spirit. Eph 1: 4 According as He ( the Father) hath chosen us in Him ( the Son) before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him ( the Father) in love. We are holy when the Father chooses us. We are without blame when we put our trust in Jesus for the remission of sins. " In love" means that we have received the gift ( baptism) of the Holy Spirit who perfects us by filling our hearts with divine love so that all our thoughts and actions are motivated by love for God and man ( see 1 Cor 13: 1-13). It is then that we are obeying the Spirit of the Law (which we can achieve with the help of the Holy Spirit) and not focusing on obeying the Letter of the Law ( which we cannot achieve because if you break one law, you've broken them all).
Acts 2: 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Notice the three elements of salvation: Repentance, belief on Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit are Baptism in the Name of the Father, in the Name of the Son, and in the name of the Holy Spirit. These baptisms are produced by the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit and not by humans.

Matt 28: 19 Go ye, therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. It is when Christians are preaching the Gospel that people are called, but those that receive it and believe are the ones that are chosen and get baptized ( not by water). People get baptized by the three persons of God through teaching, not with water by humans.
Eph 4: 4-6 There is one body ( the spiritual body of Christ ), and one Spirit ( the Spirit of the Father which uses Christ and the spirits of those that make up Christ's spiritual body as host), even (that is) as ye are called in one hope of your calling ( that you are one of the chosen ); One Lord ( The Father created our universe through Christ making Christ Lord of all creation), one faith ( belief in the God of the Jews and trusting in His plan of salvation for sinful man through Jesus Christ), one baptism ( Baptism in the Name of the Father because he is the One that chooses, grants repentance, and pretty much does it all through His Holy Spirit ), One God and Father of all ( In Eph 1: 3 The one true God is also the Father of Jesus which makes Him our God and Father as well since we are part of Jesus' body and are considered as adopted children of the Father), who is above all ( The Father put all things under Christ's feet except Himself), and through all ( that is why the Father knows everything about everyone ), and in you all ( that is His Holy Spirit in all those that are in His family on earth and in Heaven).
What can you do to get saved? You can acknowledge your sins to God and express your sorrow for committing them, thank Him for providing a way through Jesus Christ, thank Jesus for being the way, and pray to Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit so that you will be strengthened and guided to do His will in love.

The devil believes in God, yet not saved.
1. the devil is...well...the devil who led a revolt against God in heaven, along with one third of the angels.
You bet your sweet Aunt Matilda he believes in God so what does that have to do with the fact we are saved through Christ?

You wouldn't be trying to compare believers who are saved after that trouble in heaven to the devil, would you?

2. the devil was never meant to be saved. he is not flesh and blood and Christ died for flesh and blood...not spirit beings. really

3. if I were saved 10 minutes ago by calling on Jesus and believing in Him and died, I am saved.

4. don't compare what the devil believes because he is a created spirit being who tried to overthrow THE Spirit who created him,
to our revelation of what scripture says we must do to be saved

and this too:

There is more than one verse that talks about salvation. This one is hard to escape is Matthew 7:21 says: “Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Notice the word "Does" it means you do what God wants, do not continue in sin and do the works He wants you to do.
OF COURSE you cannot continue in sin but does that mean you are sinless on this earth? see I John for that. nowhere in scripture are we told if we do not 'do works' we are not saved. that is wresting the meaning in order to substantiate your personal understanding

the good works are a manifestation of the inward change. in other words, your works are not obligatory...they will happen as you continue in Christ and walk by the Spirit of God.

God is concerned with your inward person...your soul and now spirit.

Do you have any idea how many people who do not even believe in God are committed to good works?

Anyway, it's actually all about love

If I give all I possess to the poor and exult in the surrender of my body, but have not love, I gain nothing. I Corinthians 13:3

see that? God could care less about your 'works'. do not add to salvation. works do not keep you saved.

GOD keeps us saved

"But eternal life is not based on believing all he said. about what we should do AFTER we are saved." Its a good idea to believe everything Jesus said! What He said is consistent with what that faith or confession is and does.
you are equating YOUR works with salvation

no one has ever said on this forum, that I am aware of, that we do nothing after we are saved

you are equating your actions with the impossible idea of them having anything to do with your salvation

so many people seem to have trouble understanding that and will declare that if you do not somehow pull up your sleeves and get busy for God, you are not saved

yet, and this they miss too, Jesus said miracles were done in His name and yet He rejects them...works were not good enough?

NO! the heart was wicked.

I believe Jesus when He said, "Many will call Lord, Lord and will not be saved."

let's have the entire quote, shall we?

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
Matthew 7: 21-23

so, fine to quote what you did, but what is it in reference to? why are these people rejected?

let's have understanding because anyone can copy/paste or paraphrase as you did

Many on this forum are looking for ways to be delivered eternally, The only ones that are redeemed were those that God gave to his Son to pay for their sins. Jesus's crucifixion covered those that his Father gave him from the beginning of time to the end of time, and God looks upon them as Holy and without blame.

When those that he died for commits a sin, it does not affect their internal inheritance., even if they do not repent of the sin, because Jesus paid for "all of their sins". that they will ever commit.
and yet another plug for Calvinism

Calvinism is heresy and Calvin was a murderous Catholic with a god complex

You are blessed among men to have such godly insight. I am extremely humbled and thankful that you shared as you have. Your words immediately settled in my heart and have given me peace. God bless you, my brother, and rest assured, I will indeed pray for those of whom you speak.
Thank you for you kind words.
I do think most ARE babes. I have sympathy for them, as I at one time thought that behaving in a certain manner would result in my loss of Salvation.

The harder I tried, the more I sinned, until like Martin Luther, the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to the Truth that “the just shall live by faith”.
3 Epistles quote that verse from Habakkuk.
Romans
Galatians
Hebrews

Romans mostly deals with WHO are the just, and how they become just.
Galatians deals with HOW the just should LIVE.
And of course the whole book of Hebrews deals with faith. Chapter 11 with the hall of faith, and 12 actually defining it.

A trilogy of you will. Expanding on that very important verse.

The thief on the cross was an acception, Jesus knew he had no more life to live. So since he had no more life to live, just the faith was enough. We who have life to live after conversion must live to Him and die to Him, the One we love..

Besides that what else did he say that you object to?
yeah

we do not agree

faith has always been enough

for the record, without that faith, your works will condemn you rather than be approved by God. if you don't think so, then perhaps check out Matthew 7 again. those people were more active than most Christians today! and yet Jesus showed them the wrong side of the door

The one time mere confession of "accepting Christ" from the non-Christian and the Christian is far from enough! It only puts you in the same category as Satan who believes! If you are a Christian what should your attitude be about doing the right thing? Are you saved? 1John 3:9 says “No one born of God commits sin; for God’s nature abides in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God.” Many translations say "continue" in sin, a habit of sinning. Matthew 7:21 says: “Not everyone who says to me ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” Christianity is about doing God’s will. Rev 20:13: "... and they were judged every man according to their works."

What Jesus do you believe in? The one who gave himself to redeem us from all iniquity? The one who gave us a new nature, who enabled us to do what’s right? Shall you continue in sin that grace may abound? (Rom 6:1). What you do is directly related to what you believe.
You have the power to walk the way he walked.

Does obeying God's just commandments mean that it has to be a hard, white knuckled, teeth clenching event as a Christian? No! You can love Him and really want to do what is right, because you seek to please God with all of your heart, all of your mind and all of your soul. Many have felt the return love of God which cannot be replaced by anything on this Earth. Out of the abundance of love for God you will want to worship Him because he first loved you by His sacrifice. When you know Him even more you will see who He really is, His power, beauty, His gentleness, His tenderness, (and a long list of other superlatives) plus his continued forgiveness for the rare times you fall. Then you will want to worship Him even more!

works will never bring us Salvation, but they are an indication of Who our Faith is in.

but knowing that each one of us has Faith, given to us by God, what is the EFFORT within itself to use this Faith?

i Believe through Faith, but what action is using your Faith to Believe?

even a good thought is works. if my thoughts are Faith to Believe, isn't that a small effort of works?

as a person THINKS so is he!

so how can someone use their mind, which is thinking, to use Faith to Believe, not be at least 1% works?

works is not just thinking i will be a Witness today, i will Testify today, i will spread the Gospel of Christ today, it then transform into ACTION. so it's a completed process that ties one to the other.

to Believe in God is an ACTION because i am making it a Purpose to Follow God every day of my life.

James' words are indeed very wise [Faith ""without"" Works]...is DEAD!
