I know it occurs in scripture and seems to be a method for transfering the Holy Spirit. I would appreciate your understanding of it. Thanks.

Nope. According to Joyce all you have to do is pray this prayer and poof, you’re born again, the Father, Son and Spirit must make his abode in you. It’s a powerful chant apparently.

I’m kidding of course. God the Spirit comes to whom He wishes, like the wind He cannot be controlled.

John 3:6-8
[6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. [7] Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ [8] The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

The laying on hands is not necessary but it is a way of making a personal connection with people ...
But beware ... keep your spiritual ears open. I have had a few times when God has said no hands (not just associated with receiving holy spirit) The reason is not my business... it's Gods. But I have surmised (guessed) from the situation they didn't want their personal space invaded for whatever reason. .....There is another reason that happened to someone I know.... so always have your spiritual ears open.

Not an opinion..... scripture from Act ch 2

37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

I have no scripture reference, but my answer is no, one can receive without laying hand on them. Albeit, I believe there is a gift of laying on hands to receive the Holy Spirit.

not necessary but highly recommended. Not really a transfer but more like a jumpstart from what I have seen.

No... its how it was done for me but.. they did this for anyone they prayed for. What matters is Luke 11 13. You ask you then thank Him for giving the holy spirit to them that ask. You are not moved by what you feel or see you walk by faith. If GOD said it HE will always do it. Never are moved by what any one else says or personally believes. Luke 11 13 speaks for its self. No way to twist it. So you can have hands laid on you yet you can also say "Father you said in luke 11 13 you will give the holy spirit to them that ask so I ask you for the holy spirit. Thank you Father forgiving me the holy Spirit. <---thats it you got it.

No. All we need to do is ask. (Luke 11:13)

Acts is a transition book. It is not a doctrinal book for the body of Christ.

Really? What scripture tells you that?
So far, it seems I'm the only one to give a scripture that explains in detail how to receive the Holy Spirit....

Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Acts 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.

absolutely not. to receive the Holy Spirit, become born again as John 3:5 teaches: "verily, verily, i say unto thee, except a man be born of the water & of the Spirit, he can not enter the kingdom of God". anyone who becomes born again is immediately indwelt with the Holy Spirit.

Part of the problem is that being indwelt by the Holy Spirit is not the same as the gift of the Holy Spirit.
All Christians are indwelt by the Holy Spirit...1 Corinthians 6:19.
The gift of the Holy Spirit is separate from that and so is its purpose. It is what was prophesied by Joel and evidenced on the day of Pentecost. While Pentecost was a one time event, you see the same type of thing occurring throughout the book of Acts concurrent with salvation or a short time after.

no, there's no problem at all. every Christian on earth can cast out demons in the name of Jesus Christ whom all things have been given to. check Colossians 1:19 & 3:17, Ephesians 1:22,23, 1st Corinthians 10:31, Hebrews 1:1,2. & 2nd Timothy 2:7 can be applied.
