It matters to me today whenever I purchase something. It's also worth knowing that the govmint inflation numbers are bogus.
My point is the US dollar will be worthless long before any projections based on inflation.

The future value of the dollar is speculative though I tend to agree with you that that will be the inevitable outcome of our current govmint policy, but it is still speculative none-the-less. Current inflation though, affects us all today and everyday.

Gold is up 62% relative to US bond fund over the last 5 years. Saying the dollar will collapse may be speculative, but by that reasoning it was speculative to say Lehman brothers would collapse in September of 2008.

Do they not see the real threat or are they afraid to mention it? If countries don't need the dollar they will dump US bonds and will not be buying them. That is like pulling the plug on the bathtub and the water of our economy, our currency, will drain out. The US dollar will drop 30%, 50% and ultimately 100%
