Saint Nicholas of Myra (traditionally 15 March 270 – 6 December 343), also known as Nicholas of Bari, was an early bishop of Greek decent from the maritime city of Myra in Asia minor
Is this guy the real santa claus? A magical creature that can imitate God? And what does he have to do with the birth of Christ?

she is a proclaimed atheist. either way, she's making fun and using Christians and God as her subject matter to get her point across.
Yes, she's making fun, but not of God, or church.... she's making fun of the "prosperity gospel" type of Christians...... which many of you/us do in this very forum...
I'm not defending Janis Joplin's lifestyle at all.... just this song. And, it is just a song, after all...

He was a gift consultant to the Magi.
Hey, everyone has to start somewhere.

I wear my personal best on sunday to church and try to step it up a bit for ressurrection celebration. This year i got a new vest and my wife got a dress that matched one of my shirts.
My personal best is not what others would call their personal best, but we all have our own positions in life. As a mechanic im just a working class joe.
And I don't have a problem with people doing that. As long as it doesn't become a requirement for good fellowship.
Some Sundays I dress up, other Sundays I'm more casual. I don't do it to "please Jesus", though, because I still do not believe that Jesus cares how we dress..
Dressing up for Easter is fine, if you feel the desire to do so...

Oh, and I don't wear suits and ties.... used to, back in the 60's, but now, dressy is more nice jeans, dress boots, and a nice blazer type jacket. Casual is more jeans/cargo pants and a loose, cool button up shirt with collar.
I know of some churches that would think I'm a heretic for not wearing a tie... I don't go to those churches.

Oh, lighten up, Francis....
It was a COMPARISON.... if women can buy new clothes to present their best selves to God, why NOT take it further? If I said I would buy a $1000 suit to dress in reverence, would that make you feel better about it?
You, calling me abusive? That's a laugh.... a sad laugh, but a laugh, nonetheless.... I see your posts on this forum... You cover yourself in clothes of self-righteousness, and berate and ridicule anyone that dares to disagree with you.... at least I offer legitimate arguments for my positions.....
What is wrong with you. You accuse me of extremes yet here you are with more extremes. And you are name calling now? Isnt that fun.

He is the guy that all the mythos has been piled on.
The story is that He was a secret giver who left his gifts so that the beneficiary would not know he was the source of the gifts. That he began his giving on Christmas.

I am sure that i do not know or care what you are saying or why you are saying it, and much less why you are saying it to me.

Ive been around a long while. It is utterly stupid to associate bingo with drugs and drunkeness. Its a passtime game for lonely old widows, knocking on deaths door, who seek socialization.
No one is making that association other than you, it was added for reinforcement , we're saying those things don't belong in church. There are other activities that christians can do to socialize and not be confined to just "old lonely widows" as you put it, also they are knocking on heaven's door.

Colossians 3:17
Thank you all for the inspiration .:)

The woman for this panel originally looked like this when I sourced her from the web:

Yes you did make that association and reasserted it. Read back along our conversation.

And let's don't forget the classic Ray Stevens song (co-written by Chet Atkins) "Would Jesus Wear a Rolex (on his television show)"
Totally mocking the fake televangelists wearing Rolex's, begging for your money....

And a drug addicted whore feminist with what appeared to be a layer of dirt on her, she sounded like a wood rasp on a fence post when she sang.

I grew up near Janice Joplin's hometown, Port Arthur, Texas. There is a large museum for her and of her "stuff", like her Volkswagen Bug.
People I have met that knew her personally stated she was rowdy, rebel, doped up and drunk most of the time. I was in the 5th grade when one of her songs came out and I remember one of my classmates saying she sounded like a corn cob stuck up her booty.

So you deny that you have no feeling or believe one way or the other, you simply wanted people to give their opinion?
I did not make a post at all saying "I deny". I HAVE given my thoughts about this. Did you read my thoughts as very important gospel? Even I don't do that, but keep my mind open to the Lord's voice.

I have considered every post with interest and most of them with thanks.
