What are some of the biggest distractions you can think of in the body of Christ that take away from what's truly important—the good news? To me, the list seems potentially endless. I'll just mention one as it happens to be one of my biggest pet peeves, that's Christian nationalism. I'm sure you can think of a few.

Too much scratching of the ears and not enough sound doctrine. It fosters babes in Christ and not mature, growing believers.

Philippians 4:5-8 The Lord is at hand--do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS.

I would add pretty much anything on TBN and Daystar. So many angelic visitations on there you'd think angels save us, not the Lord.

I don't know but if we only focus on why Christians are not Christians
It soon becomes ugly

I can tolerate some nationalism a lot more than I can tolerate liberalism among those calling themselves Christians.

It gets me a bit upset when I see some constantly getting on the case of “conservative“ Christians and the candidates they support yet never making a peep about the candidates supporting sin. Something is very wrong.

Yeah, our faith should not be all wrapped in politics, but at the same time, we should show grace to our brothers and sisters in Christ that do in the name of supporting Godly values.

Definitely. What most Christians and conservatives probably don't realize is that there is a deliberate agenda and a campaign on the Left to ensure that anyone on the right is falsely branded with one or more of the following: Christian nationalist, Domestic Terrorist, White Supremacist, Fascist, Nazi, Racist, Homophobe, Islamophobe etc. This makes the Left look virtuous, while they pour out their hatred for anything that is good and decent.

What people believe politically is their own business. But nationalism takes it to a whole new level. It can become a substitute gospel.

Perhaps the Twelve Apostles should have been staunch Herodians, or staunch Caesarites? Then the world would have the approval of Christians having a faith that contains politics?

As in all aspects of Christian life, politics must flow out of faith in Christ, a thirst for righteousness, and love for nieghbor.
While this country has never been a christian nation, i doubt that it was ever the intent of the founders that freedom of religion was ever to include non or anti christian religions. I personally think it would be great to live in an actual christian nation.

The only requirement in the minds of the founders was that people should be "moral." The language of the First Amendment prohibits Congress from passing any law that prohibits the free exercise of religion; it says nothing about Christianity. They could have specified Christianity if they wanted to. Christianity wasn't their primary objective; their primary objective was ensuring liberty for all.

"Christian" entertainment masquerading as "worship". Some churches have stopped preaching altogether.

No argument from me on this one. And when they do "preach" they don't preach the gospel of Christ.

I'd say King James onlyism is also a distraction. It's not that different from the LDS claiming that the Book of Mormon as divinely inspired. If you don't have the right book, you're out.

God can give truth to anyone from a Betty Crocker Cookbook if it is His desire. After all H will take down what is with what is not.

I read the KJV most of the time, but I was weaned spiritually on the Oxford Study Bible. I have read many other versions and in several languages. This and a dollar witll not buy you a frapacccino at Starbucks, and why should it?
