Salvation is accomplished in a moment in time, do you believe this or do you think salvation occurs over time by ongoing faith?

A person can squelch/suppress/grieve the Spirit and walk in the flesh because we are not automatons.
A with most people here on CC you use your own personal experience as the litmus test for truth, that is not how it works.
There are carnal Christians.

First off...
I'm not using my own personal experience as a litmus test. I am using God's Word. It's really the only thing that matters. It isn't so much what I or anyone says about God but more what God says about us individually that matters.

Faith causes actions....pure and simple.
You either believe or you give verbal assent as a quasi fire insurance policy.
The thief on the cross is used often but what else could he really do other than acknowledge Jesus as innocent.

When ALL of the sinful attitudes, motives, and perspectives are stripped from a person and destroyed forever when they enter heaven how much of a person is left?
There will be no sinning in Heaven.

Funny how you did not use God's word.
The issue is not whether faith causes action.

The issue is >>> are "works" necessary to prove faith.

So, once you can make that distinction then we can discuss further.

What then happens to those who talk a good talk but don't walk the walk? They were never saved in the first place?!?
I have no idea, I trust God to know how He is working in people's lives.

James 2:26, "For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so belief without works is dead also."

very easy to understand, some people just want a god that allows them to only give lip service and nothing more.

If one seeks they will find...

Hebrews 11:6, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to Yah has to believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him.”

John 8:24, “Therefore I said to you that you shall die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins.”

Hebrews 5:9, “And having been perfected, He became the Causer of everlasting salvation to all those obeying Him.”

1 John 3:24, “And the one guarding His commands stays in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He stays in us, by the Spirit which He gave us.

And the permanence of that is dependent on us continuing in the faith, with works following.
Jesus said a branch without fruit is thrown in the fire & burned.
Right, God throws His adopted children into the fire, which fire? Sometimes fire is just fire it is not always a reference to anything else.

I could break down this passage for you but I know I would be wasting my time. Suffice it to say the passage is not about losing salvation.

If you think God casts off unfruitful Christians to damnation you will have to reconcile about 130 verses which explicitly state He does not.

Even “if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself” (2 Tim. 2:13).

Ummm.....
I've used the substance, essence and even gone so far as list direct book, chapter, and verses.

YOU are the one who keeps incorrectly using works.
Just like the brides who went to buy oil for their lamps. Or those who pleaded because of their works to Jesus as He replied, "I never knew you, you doers of iniquity"

Works prove nothing.
Pretty words prove nothing.

Ravi Zaccharias is a perfect example. He gave some of the best, hard hitting, monologues and sermons out there for decades....but when he thought he was hidden he was a very sexually perverted and corrupt man who cared nothing about others. In his earlier years very self aggrandizing and boastful about smuggling Bibles in communist Russia....he wasn't so much in his later years.
After he died it ALL came out.

If that's what you believe, to you the end-time apostasy would be false. And it's not.
I just want you to see what you need to see.

Exactly my point!! :)
So that's what you are preaching?
That everyone should do nothing? (Or minimalist)

That's in direct opposition of one of the seven letters in Revelation. The one where Jesus says He is about to vomit them....and YOU are advocating that they are doing good?

WOW.....

John/Yahanan 12:48, "He who rejects Me, and does not follow My words has One Who judges him. The word that I have spoken, the same will be used to judge him in the last day."

The "end of the age" written about in scripture has already occurred.
So I am not worried.
Peace.

the Great Day of YHWH is still future

Malachi 3:2 “And who is able to bear the day of His coming, and who is able to stand when He appears? For He is like the fire of a refiner, and like the soap of a launderer.”

Revelation 6:17, “because the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?”

Isaiah 24:16-23, “From the ends of the earth we shall hear songs, “Splendour to the Righteous One!” But I say, “I waste away, I waste away! Woe to me! The treacherous betray, with treachery the treacherous betray. Fear and the pit and the snare are upon you, O inhabitant of the earth. And it shall be that he who flees from the noise of the fear falls into the pit, and he who comes up from the midst of the pit is caught in the snare. For the windows from on high shall be opened, and the foundations of the earth be shaken. The earth shall be utterly broken, the earth shall be completely shattered, the earth shall be fiercely shaken. The earth shall stagger like a drunkard. And it shall totter like a hut, and its transgression shall be heavy upon it, and it shall fall, and not rise again. And in that day it shall be that יהוה punishes on high the host of exalted ones, and on the earth the sovereigns of the earth. And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and be punished after many days. And the moon shall blush, and the sun shall be ashamed, for יהוה of hosts shall reign on Mount Tsiyon, and in Yerushalayim, and before His elders, in esteem!”

Malachi 4:1-6, “For look, the day shall come, *burning like a furnace, and all the proud, and every wrongdoer shall be stubble. And the day that shall come shall burn them up,” said יהוה of hosts, “which leaves to them neither root nor branch. But to you who fear My Name the Sun of Righteousness shall arise with healing in His wings. And you shall go out and leap for joy like calves from the stall. And you shall trample the wrongdoers, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,” said יהוה of hosts. “Remember the Torah of Mosheh, My servant, which I commanded him in Ḥorĕḇ for all Yisra’yl – laws and right-rulings. See, I am sending you Ěliyah the prophet before the coming of the great and awesome day of יהוה."4:6, and he shall turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with utter destruction.”

When anyone receives the gift of faith, and they are not led to doing works of the saints, the gift is made of no value.

Faith, without works, is deaad.

Pharisees thought they understood the scriptures too. Just sayin'.
pharisees literally made their own laws and even loop holes to "justify" their transgression of YHWH's Law. They would make up reasons why they didnt have to follow as written but could make their own way.

1 Samuel 12:24, “Only fear יהוה, and you shall serve Him in truth with all your heart, for consider what marvels He has done for you."

When YHWH says go we must go.

Hebrews 4:2, “For this message was preached to us, as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not benefit them, because they did not share in the faith of those who obeyed.”

you like settings traps and say GOTCHA! Just like the pharisee. JoHNDB understands scripture far better than you just so you know.....
Not really.
He did state my position ... I thought he agreed.

Oh well, it is what it is.
A free gift with no strings attached demands humility that is a very narrow gate to go through.
