i don't think i have a favorite team? my favorite player is still John Stockton. i prefer '90s basketball. nowadays the NBA looks more like the NFL.
but Stockton didn't make a big public deal of himself off the court; just went out and did his job. i believe he still holds records for assists and probably steals? i know he had Malone (named a cat after Karl once
)... they made the pick and roll look easy.
and when Jordan began wearing the long shorts, and
everyone else in the league did, too, John was like, "i'ma risk it" lol and just kept wearing the goofy short shorts.
Jason Kidd was a great point guard, too. he might have come close to Stockton's assist record? i like Steph Curry. he seems like a nice boy, doesn't he?
i can still picture Dikembe running down the court after blocking a shot, wagging his index finger in the air... not in the house of Mutombo! lol
there was some panache in '90s ball. loved it! and remember Tim Hardaway? he always looked scared when he started, but what a ball player!
i live an hour north of Manhattan, so i'm supposed to be a Knicks fan. but honestly, no team is as good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory as the Knicks!
'90s Knicks were terrific. Ewing, Oakley, Carmelo, Starks, Doc! one of my daughters, who was about 12 at the time, would yell at the TV for Van Gundy to run a certain play, and lo and behold, he must have heard her!
...maybe that's why i love '90s basketball. my husband and kids and i all still lived together and watched the games together. i'm happy for the kiddos; they're grown with lives and families of their own. but i do miss those days.
i really love going to a high school game, too. watching those kids, some of them talented and some just tall lol. but they TRY so hard!
do you like the NBA? who do you root for, and who do you root against? (ALWAYS a team to root against haha)
