If the purpose of the musician was to make music for any other motive than to glorify God and lift up the Lord Jesus Christ... it's ungodly music.
i agree we should be careful what we listen to, but do you not see how silly it is to make this the requirement?

it would require me knowing personally each composer of music. and i'd have to be able to know their hearts!
i don't even know my own, if i'm believing the Scriptures.

do you think people never do a thing with mixed motives? just slightly mixed would make the whole thing untenable.

So here’s a secular song that’s Godly, in my humble opinion.
He says he can see clearly now... by what power did he accomplish this?

Only thru a close personal relationship with God thru Jesus based on His Word... can one see clearly.... unless the song is just about being able to see the sky clearly now that the rain clouds are moved out.

Unfortunately this song is not praising the Lord or even giving credit to the Lord... so not so godly.

Just because a song is not overtly talking about evil things doesn't make it godly.

It's nice that it doesn't seem to direct anyone's attention to anything evil, but there's more to it for something to be considered to be godly.

Those that love the Lord desire to please Him, to be near to Him and they know God inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3)

Why would anyone that loves the Lord want to be messing around with songs that don't please the Lord by praising and uplifting Him as an act of worship to the One that saved their soul from eternal hell???

It's a matter of what is first and foremost in one's heart... a matter of what is one's highest priority in life... please God or pleasing self?

Jesus knew we would write "human" songs. you are to obsessed with having the belief that ALL songs MUST praise the Lord. do you think, speak & act out everything for the glory of God? no, you don't. even if you are a Christian, you still sin. i am peacefully talking to you, not arguing.

i'd have to be able to know their hearts!
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks

Luke 6:45
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

You shall know them by their fruit

Matthew 7:16-20
Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

we talked about it but he's too far away. too bad because he's an outstanding guitarist. very skilled in rock, classical rock & jazz. classical rock meaning scales in mozart, straus, beethoven. i influenced him to start on that because that stuff is quite difficult.
There are people putting out albums that live in different parts of the world that never go to the studio together.

He can do guitar parts in a studio near him, or even at his house since he probably already has digital recording capabilities and other instruments can be done at a local studio or at home if they have digital recording capabilities

From there each instrument part is put in to mixing software to mix the sound for the final take on each song. With modern technology, not living close by is not a deterrent.

If you start getting on some of these music talkboards and talk to other musicians you'll find a lot of this is going on and some of these guys can help you with tips on how to get this done.

If you guys have the desire to make some music that blesses the Lord, He'll help you figure things out on this.

thanks for the advice. i'm familiar with modern tech in that regard. there's nothing like eye & audio contact in person when people are playing together. right now, i'm "sort of'" on hold until my mother-in-law passes, who's very close. plus i'll be retiring April 1st & that frees me. i saw a band who rehearsed long distance & they were terrible. i do have an excellent 5 string bassist who's ready to join me. he's going thru the same issue, can't find anyone good enough. for now, i have to wait but still am rehearsing on my own.

It wouldn't be about rehearsing... it's about each musician doing their part of the song and putting it all together in the mixing software for the finished product.

If someone's part isn't good enough they can always re-do it.

There's lots of big time record labels that are doing this as well, so it's not uncommon these days when the goal is to produce a studio track that is mixed into the final polished product.

It's just a way to make some good Christians music.... or, sit around and "wait" until better musicians are found and try to do it the way they used to where everyone is there in person, and end up doing nothing.

So maybe the question is... it the goal for you to be satisfied?

Or for the Lord to be satisfied by some good Christian music being produced and thrown up on Utube so others can be encouraged?

That tis the question!

Those that don't accept what God says in His Word to take Him seriously.... are apostate.

You wouldn't understand seeing you laugh at the Lord's instructions. View attachment 257072
hold on there tiger......while I do believe that we need to temper what we listen to, if someone does not do exactly as you do, does not equate with them being apostate.

be careful. I don't know enough about you to know all you believe concerning scripture, but you really cannot call others apostate in a forum here.

on the flip side, I do not believe we will hear pounding rock music in heaven and see the angels all jiving to it. that, may be something to consider in this world

God will not force a person to leave their sin of any kind, but in the end, sin does have its own reward

So, "tiger" . . . .you disagree with this statement then?
"Those that don't accept what God says in His Word to take Him seriously.... are apostate"

And, did you notice I was speaking in general terms and not to any one person in particular?

This usually results in those with a guilty conscience being the only ones that object laughing.gif
