Would Jesus drink Alcohol?

Maybe here is where I should have posted my 2nd reply:
The Bible says Jesus was a Jew in many places. Jesus himself indicated to the woman at the well that he was a Jew in John 4. The woman asked Jesus " How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans." vs 9. Jesus did not correct her about him being a Jew. Then in verse 22, Jesus positively affirmed that he was Jewish with these words: " Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews."

Jesus is all about purity of body and soul. There is nothing at all pure about alcohol. It is toxic to the human body. It is poison. It is great as an antiseptic, sure. It kills microorganisms and bacteria that it comes into contact with.

Good for human ingestion? Not so much. Take a good look at the fermentation process and think again if it makes any sense at all that Jesus would make, or serve, alcohol to anyone.

Alcohol is literally the feces of the yeast microorganism. The yeast consumes the sugar of fruits/vegetables and excretes alcohol. It also flatulates carbon dioxide so the carbonation, all the little bubbles in wine, is the gas that exits the yeast's rectum.

Does this sound like a holy and pure substance that Christ would enjoy or give to many people to ingest after they had all "well drunken"?

The fact is that wine in the Bible is referred to by a single English word when the original language used multiple words to refer to what we call wine and also what we call grape juice (unfermented).

Jesus never drank alcohol and what He actually made was pure, fresh grape juice from water - as much of a miracle as creating alcohol, if not more so.

Contrary to popular belief in wine in the bible, the Bible speaks negatively of ingesting alcohol in many places.

George Cruikshank's painting "The Worship of Bacchus" was a very well known and sought after work in its day. It depicts how society uses alcohol and is destroyed by it. Bacchus is the ancient Greek god of wine and intoxication.

Hi. I was wondering how much wine is not too much? The following from the Bible indicates that it’s ok to have some:
Psalm 104:15 "... wine that makes glad the heart of man... "
1 Timothy 5:23 Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.

And of course some verses say that it’s a sin to drink much:
Ephesians 5:18 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit,

So, if it’s to make your heart glad that means that in my case I would need maybe three glasses of wine. I am around 140kg, 42 years old with a biggish build.

But the question remains how often? I would say not more than once a week. I have had more than once a week lately and hopefully, I pull up and cut back. I write this because I like a bit of wine, I only drink red wine and no other alcoholic drink.
Now the above verses mention wine, not whisky, bear, etc. So does that mean we should only drink wine? I think so since strong alcoholic drinks like vodka for instance are a bit too strong and therefore too easy to have too much.

Anyway, I am very much interested in others' understanding.

I guess some people cant tell the difference between new wine and old wine, or good wine and bad wine

It would have been easier if Jesus had chosen a different fruit to make a drink out of, like say oranges or lemons

I believe He did in moderation. Before I finally left the Catholic Church it took me a pint or 2 just to get through Mass. God is so gracious, He kept my bottle full so I could survive the heresy being spewed. He truly is a Miracle Worker.

It's funny because now I hardly ever have a drink. Back then before leaving Catholicism I was lit up every free moment I had. Now I can go to a cookout and see a full cooler of beer and only have one and be satisfied. Most of the time I will reach past the beer for the soda. But if You ever make that wine, I will split a bottle with ya :)

I lived inside a beer can! So I don't touch it any longer. But if I had to go to the catholic church, I would seriously consider starting again! It would be easier to get saved inside a beer can than there.:p

Oh man, when I was small I used to get spanked because there's little benches under the pews so you can use to kneel on during all of the idiotic baloney rituals they perform. I used them for a foot stool. Then going to Confession was a nightmare. I would sit in there and tell the priest what I thought about him and would threaten him and he'd come running out screaming at my parents. I just always knew this wasn't for me. But I also knew God was real. He just was not what I was experiencing. By the time I was an adult, I was sitting as close to the exits and never took communion because I had mine in the car before going inside the church. Life is definitely much better these days.

My Grandma was a protestant and took me to Her church and I got saved there. My parents never knew. They would have never let me see my Grandma if they ever knew. But after that and going to the Catholic Church just seemed wrong for me.

I was saved driving down the road in my pickup truck with my mullet flying in the breeze, a beer between my legs hunting pheasants!
Had gone to church maybe 10 times in my life. My dad had been saved for about 2 years and he had witnessed to me. I shrugged it off.

But on that road trip, I was talking to Him. Testing Him. I was on a gravel road, doing 40 50 miles an hour and I would look at a rock on the road as I went by and say," how in the world would you know which rock I was looking at?" I did that three times and continued the hunt. After the hunt, I headed home, not thinking about a thing,half drunk, Turned out on the highway.........and I heard in my mind," I have your three rocks." And It was game over for me. Still gives me the chills to this day.

I've been to wedding receptions with punch bowls of cheap juice. They often add I've cream to make it tastier and fancy for the special occasion. If someone brought in a big punch bowl and set it next to it filled with high quality fresh juice (non alcoholic wine), which would people prefer?
I would go for high quality over the standard typical stuff you pick up at the store.

The implication is that people who've been drinking already are unable to differentiate the good from the not so good. As an ex-over imbiber, I can assure you that this is the case. If the wine was non alcoholic, the comment by the Master of Ceremonies was meaningless.

As a kid I had rich adult friends and we'd hang out together with family members.
There were times I'd start with the Anheuser brew and follow up with high end European . I could tell the difference very easily.

Why do you say that?

Experience. Not just mine, but my drinking mates. Also, professional wine tasters do not drink the wine. They taste and then spit it out. Alcohol clouds the judgement.

not inside stir fried onions and a sirloin steak it doesn't especially brown ale 😋 then don't forget the Christmas puddings 😋.

I wonder tho how many here have made liquor Christmas puddings and with what fancy 😋
