Your grandmother sounds like a really cool lady. I bet you miss her.

Here's a 218 pound monster.
This guy went back and recaught it when he got a scale and a tractor. He should have remembered a tape measure and someone to verify it for a possible record.

I made a carrot crust pizza one time. I've been eyeing a pizza bowl recipe that I'll probably make at some point. It's basically pizza toppings in a bowl. I like "bowl" recipes, one of my favorites I make often is Philly Cheesesteak Bowl.

I've made quite a variety of whoopie pies. I'm a big whoopie pie fan. I blame my dad. He gave me some Amish pumpkin whoopie pies a long time ago and I've been hooked ever since. I hope you have some smashing dreams!

Here's some zucchini whoopie pies I made from scratch... View attachment 260392

No WAY! 😆
The same song came to mind at first. Lol

I used to have an alligator snapper too.
They are my favorite freshwater turtle.
They look like little dinosaurs.

Mine was like this and grabbed my hand once. The kids loved Festus.
Guess what? He'd like your turkey dinner too.
Here's once crunching on a raw turkey bone.
Wow, both of those videos are incredible. The first one was intense. I am glad he covered his arm, I thought my hemophobia was going to react lol

Those turtles are pretty neat. You are brave for handling them!!

Since I don't get out on the creek much anymore, I don't see turtles very often. Oddly, I see more critters living on the edge of the country than I did living in the country, except for turtles. I seen more turtles when I lived in the country mostly due to spending a lot of time near or in the water. Btw, I was as bad at fishing as I am at gardening. So my grandmother put me to the task of rowing the boat to her trotlines. I really enjoyed it though, good for upper body strength.

Coyote Peterson is the guy that teenage boys dare to do stupid stuff like that. 😄
I would always use props like he did at first, but wasn't going to get bit on purpose. I saved the bites and scrapes for personal time when not in front of the crowds.

Boating is fun. I bet that was interesting pulling up the lines and wondering if anything was on the ends. One if these days, I'm probably going to get a kayak or something for two. There are lots of ponds, lakes and rivers around here. The falls are pretty too. One thing about critters is that if you don't have a garden, they aren't usually too much of a problem. I manage a wildlife refuge, so they like to hang out.

I don't have a garden, but I have lots of critters hanging around. I think they just really like me (I mean, that is what I like to think anyway lol). The more critters the better. I'd live like Grizzly Adams if I could (btw, that was my fave show as a kid). Mostly it's the furry critters, but there is also a world of crayfish in the ground. I have spotted 5 different types of snakes in the yard, one is the Graham's crayfish snake.

I haven't gone kayaking. It looks smashing though. I've only been row boating and paddle boating. Row boating for fishing purposes and paddle boating for recreational purposes. When my mother was alive, we enjoyed paddle boating together. Except one time when we rented a paddle boat on a lake that was turning over. Well, I paddled us clear across the lake. While I am doing this all the stuff coming up from the bottom of the lake clogged up the mechanisms and the boat stopped. So there we are across the lake stuck. I took my shoes off and hopped in the water and swam to the bank while pulling mother & paddle boat. She gets out and we get our stuff. We had to hike up a rugged hill without a trail to the road and then head for the park office. I was covered with stuff from the lake turning over. I looked like Swamp Thing! And yes, we got a refund lol Adventures!

That's impressive. You have that many kinds of snakes in your yard?? I'd be scared to mow it. I might accidentally hit one of the poor things.

I saw the Grizzly Adams movie. It was one of my favorites.. Big fan of Ben.

I'm sorry your Mother passed away. That's gotta be tough. Did it happen recently?

Thank you. She passed away in 2020. It happened very suddenly. She got Covid while at a Farmer's Market where she was a vendor. Since she had underlying health problems she ended up having a sudden heart attack. She had just visited me about 3 days before she passed. One of the creepiest things in my life happened the day before she died. A snake slithered in and got on a shelf near where I was on my computer. It hung it's head out toward me and just stared at me in the most eerie way. I'll never forget how it looked at me. Interestingly, she had a phobia of snakes.

Anyway, I should watch Grizzly Adams again. My dad met Dan Haggerty twice at Gun Shows. He got his autograph for me both times too. One is an autographed picture that says To Carrie.
It was my mother that got me into that show back in the day. His character lived the ideal life, just add internet lol.

Btw, I weedeat the entire yard so that I can carefully watch for little critters (skinks, toads, wolf spiders, etc. inhabit the yard). I stop when I see one and let them get out of the way or help them.

I took a break to look up that Crayfish Snake. Looks rare and is found in a portion of your state and nowhere else according to one range map.

Here's a movie with Dan Haggerty that I haven't seen yet. It's called Grizzly Mountain.
I hope this doesn't make you sad.
I plan to watch it when there's time.

That was recently. I'm real sorry about your Mother. Oh my. My Dad died, so I know what that's like. I don't know why strange things happen at times like that. Any idea why that happened with the snake?

Bless your heart for looking out for those critters. Did you get that tender heart from your Mother or Father?

I am sorry about your Dad! Grief is a pain unlike any other pain!

Thank you so much for the movie! I will watch it this weekend, if not sooner.

I wouldn't call myself afraid of snakes, but the way that snake looked at me just really unsettled me deeply. I hurried outside and had my dad look for it. He couldn't find it. But, it returned the day after my mother passed away (the day I went to the funeral home). It managed to get on top of the fridge. It stared down at me and somehow I didn't feel creeped out that second time. I just let it be and it quit showing up.

Even though my mother and father were very mismatched. The were both very fond of critters, so I have to give them both credit.

May I ask...often this is a delicate topic, so feel free to ignore the question...are you a creationist? You seem to be very caring of creation, so I couldn't help myself!

I had some strange things happen too.
I'm glad your Dad is there for you.

The Lord opened up doors that were otherwise impossible on this subject in the public schools. I shared the literal Biblical perspective of creation and was surprised that I was so well received.

I remember being exposed to an evolutionary point of view from K through college. Never did anyone provide the Biblical perspective. Only when I got saved did I start examining that issue of origin other than what was taught .
That was while still in high school, but college was at the state university .
What do you think about that?

I am also surprised it was well received!!

I wanted to visit CMI in Powder Springs, GA while I was in Atlanta in the fall of 2022. I called to ask if I could come shop for books. They asked me if I understood what their ministry was about. I explained that I understand. Also, upon arrival the lady up front came to open the door. After reading their reviews from the opposing side I can understand why they are careful!

It seems like it is so often not well received. Interestingly, my high school science teachers were Creationists! And I didn't even go to a Christian school! Most of my family are evolutionists, except dad (he's more like a creationist/gap theory believer though).

Anyway, Creationism is a subject that is very close to my heart. Thank you for replying!!

BTW, if you disagree, that's ok. I don't hold that against anyone. I've been around evolutionists since show and tell in kindergarten. My claim to Fame back then was dinosaurs. Lol

I am a 6 day Creationist and have been most of my life. Spiders are my favorite critter, and I personally can't see how anyone could think such an incredible creature could have evolved. But, there is so much more than that. Wildlife, space, and our own bodies are truly amazing.

I was typing while you were posting. Lol

It's funny how some staunch atheists used to come to my meetings. Most got along even though I am very opinionated about certain subjects.

You were blessed to have Christian teachers.
I've spoken at public school assemblies and have known some too. Growing up, I can't remember any creationists though.

Glad you are a Bible believer.

I agree.
My longest living pets were Red Knee Tarantulas. I lost my last one recently.
They had different personalities but both were sweet. They were very interesting little friends.

Thank you so much for answering!

I feel like Creationist are sorta rare.

We don't have chipmunks in Oklahoma, so when I am in Georgia and I see a chipmunk I get all excited. I guess that is how I feel when I run into a Creationist lol

I really enjoy the science and all the fascinating things there is to learn. I often read Creationist articles. But, even just watching wildlife is a joy beyond compare.

So you aren't afraid of spiders either? Amazing! What a rare person!

My wife made a sugar cream pie from an Amish recipe. Did a peach pie too.
