 ... whatever Charlie_2024. I think the one who's boasting is the one who claims he doesn't "believe there's anything new for [him] to know" and when someone shares some insight they have gleaned the one boasting claims "to suggest that there's so much more to know is to admit you still don't know what the gospel has reavealed" ...

so I think we can just let that rest and leave it to God to sort out ...

you know those verses in 1 Cor 1 where God talks about how He has chosen the foolish things ... the weak things ... the base things?

well ... the words "foolish things" are translated from the Greek word mōros, from which we get our English word "moron".

the words "weak things" are translated from the Greek word asthenēs, which means incapable.

the words "base things" are translated from the Greek word agenēs, which means insignificant.

"despised" is the Greek word exoutheneō, which means those treated with contempt or scorn.

1 Corinthians 1:

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things [Greek mōros] of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things [Greek asthenēs] of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things [Greek agenēs] of the world, and things which are despised [Greek exoutheneō], hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

And before you accuse me of some sort of "boasting" or whatever, I was taught the Greek words by my pastor and I looked up the words just as God tells us to do.

I just think it's funny that we puff ourselves up thinking we're all that and a bag of chips ... only to have the rug ripped beneath our feet by the Creator of the universe telling us He chose the morons, the incapable, the insignificant, the contemptible. Yeah, I'm all those things and God loves me!!!
.
ahem.

As long as a Christian remains ignorant of sound doctrinal teachings on a steady basis?

That will hold true.

Sound doctrine will quite often show you things you would never guess....
Sound as sound as can be 😊

In the begining the life of all mankind was the light of all mankind.

Then the life of all mankind switched the light of in the life of all mankind.

There for God is only concerned by what each individual is capable of doing with his life.

For each individual the light is still there but it only gets brighter the nearer you draw nearer to God.

The nearer you draw closer to God the brighter you get,
interesting, I find the opposite ... the nearer God draws me to Him the more I see His Holiness and my complete lack of same ...

Thank God for His provision in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for one day we shall see Him as He is:

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

if one isn't saved by God's choice, whose choice is it?

Men are saved by God's determination.

Is God indiscriminate?
God seeks who He is to save.

Jeremiah 17:10

“I the Lord search the heart
and examine the mind,
to reward each person according to their conduct,
according to what their deeds deserve.”

That is not irresistible grace!

For God is not seeking for those whom he can program!

The First Church of the Robots?

All this is proving is that TULIP believers have faulty analytical abilities.

That is what we have been chosen for!
To have a glorious absolutely perfect body just like His own!
Bone of His bones and glorious flesh of His glorious body!

Before the foundation of the world God chose who would be made to be the Son's Bride.
Chosen out from all God knew would believe throughout history!
That is how and what we have been chosen for!

Not chosen to believe. We must choose. But, chosen for what will be the result of our believing.

God is not dumb.

5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

6 But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

9 Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.

10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

The truth has always been in mankind from the begining.

Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, wrapped in a cloud, with a rainbow over his head, and his face was like the sun, and his legs like pillars of fire. He had a little scroll open in his hand. And he set his right foot on the sea, and his left foot on the land, and called out with a loud voice, like a lion roaring. When he called out, the seven thunders sounded. And when the seven thunders had sounded, I was about to write, but I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said, and do not write it down.” And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven ...

The truth has always been in mankind from the begining.
Romans 1:18 tells us the truth can be restrained and that God's wrath is revealed from heaven against those who restrain:

Romans 1:

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Rom 1:18-19 tells us that the truth is suppressed when God makes it plain to them. The words "who hold" in vs 18 are translated from the Greek word katechō and it means to suppress; hold back; restrain. When the Word of God is spoken, the person restrains the truth from reaching his/her heart. The person rejects the truth. The person rejects God.

Rom 1:20-21 tells us that because they suppress the truth, they do not glorify God, their thinking becomes empty and foolish and, as a result, their foolish hearts become darkened ... and it's a downward spiral from there to the point where God finally lets them go to reprobate.

People are not born reprobate. According to Romans 1:18-32, as people continue to restrain/suppress the truth, God gives them over as they move further and further from Him and from truth.

La memorie d Abraham

The memory of Abraham

In loving memory of Jean Calvin, a loving french man died 1564.

Honoured by brothers.

Abraham's memory

Just a prayer before obeying
the order of things and to our fathers
Before leaving

Just another life saved from the oblivion
Incised much better than with a sword
in Abraham's memory

The waiting for the hour is long
The sadness in our hearts is heavy
But it's so great our love and faith in you
And it's difficult to understand you sometime

What will be our destinies tomorrow further?
Some peace, love and bread
In the palm of your hands

The waiting for the hour is long
The sadness in our hearts is heavy
But it's so great our love and faith in you
And it's difficult to understand you sometime

Lead our children to the end of time
Fill with more joys than tears
Abraham's memory
