Flooded basement

Please pray for my wife and I. On July 1st it rained like 5-6 inches in 3-4 hours and our basement flooded. This was not an isolated incident in my community and we could only find one person who could get to us and have an estimate by the next day and repair the damages within a reasonable amount of time. Please pray the costs to repair the damages is not too bad and that this does not happen again. We have more storms coming over the next 3 days.

Oh my! I hope there's no further damage. I remember when a neighbor's tree roots damaged and clogged the drains. Drains backed up in my basement and had to scrub with bleach several times and pump out water. I can sympathize.
If you can get a sump pump, extra hoses that fit and get it out a window; that's what we did. It kept the level down until the rain passed and roots were removed. Hopefully/ prayerfully it won't get in again.

It started raining again around 8pm Tuesday night and it did not finally stop until 1:45am. The window well started filling up again at the bottom about half way this time and water has been coming in behind the wall. Not major amounts and I just spent the last 30 minutes using my shop vac to get it up. We need our egress window well dug out and proper drainage put in. We have even more rain on the way Wednesday night. The guy who digs that out is coming tomorrow to give me a bid. Hopefully he can dig it out as well tomorrow.

Water was pouring out from under the wall on Monday. I had to open the window and fill up storage containers rotating out 2 of them continuously for over 1 hour. I must have dumped at least 200 gallons into the bath tub. I'm still sore from the workout.

I don't know why it is so hard for service men to just show up and do an honest job right. I've had the same problem with a garage owner who was supposed to do an expensive but simple job.

May the Lord provide relief right away.

Any big box store like Lowe's or Menards should stock water pumps or sump pumps with the motor above water and a basic switch that kicks it off automatically when the level drops. The accordion type flexible corrugated drain hoses are cheap. With the right diameter of the pump outlet, you'll need a hose clamp too.

I'm not sure, but perhaps coat hanger wires,cord or aluminum tie wire for garden fence could be fastened to the 4 sides to keep it upright and centered. It might need a different container though. Perhaps a sturdy sealed plastic trash can.

Corrugated Drain Pipe at $6.22
I bought a larger length that was maybe twice the price at Lowes for a back up , just in case. You'll want to check anywhere plumbing supplies are sold.

I ran the long pipe out the window and into the downhill section of yard. It worked. Looking at the water, it appears like you have a gutter separation. I can't tell from the picture

Big box stores also will have a list of contractors they use for various jobs. They might be able to suggest a contractor.

Reminds me that I need to check and clean my own gutters.
