But if the US commits itself to become a Christian nation, puts it in writing and starts passing laws that are based on God's word, won't that cause God to pour out His Spirit and lead to mass repentance and turning to Him?
Are you meaning integralism like when the Roman Catholic's began sending their Cardinals and Bishops to anoint the kings in the different nations and have them order their people to become Christians?

Do not think that it is a good idea. I don't want the government to decide what is Christian or not. Dangerous.

What would be the outcome? Do you believe that if the US writes a new constitution and officially declares that we are now a Christian theocracy, God will pour out His Spirit and the whole country will repent and turn to Christ? I'm curious to hear how people envision this all playing out.
The real authority on earth is the church. Sadly, the church has abdicated its responsibility to resist the devil and seek the Kingdom of God first. Passing laws does not make a nation righteous. Israel had the best laws possible in the natural. The problem is not the law but the human heart.

It is certainly better to live where the law of the land does not inhibit the preaching of the gospel and the life of the church. However, the church thrives in some places where persecution is intense, such as Iran. I am convinced that God removes His blessing from those regions that have forsaken Him. For example, natural disasters in California. China began persecuting the church when Xi took full control. Since then, China's economy has tanked and floods have ravaged the land.

I do not believe in coincidence. God is on the throne and nothing escapes His notice. CS Lewis said that pain is God's megaphone to rouse a deaf world. Some will respond to God's judgement with repentance. Others will rebel even more.

I am really starting to enjoy these "when did you stop beating your wife?" questions, said no one ever.

I doubt this will happen because if the leftists haven't succeeded in changing the second amendment of the Constitution then it's going be be very unlikely that anyone else is going to change the Constitution to make the nation a Christian Theocracy.

But, if it does happen, as long as US doesn't become the equivalent of an Islamic Republic, then it's not a bad idea to counter-culture the current ideologies. Things will have to balance themselves out eventually.

History is exhausting. I wish God can come right now to end all the madness.
I second and third that motion. Especially this past week. :( What episode are we on now? I lost count already.

It seems to me that many who claim to believe want all to pray on the street corners in a loud wail.

As a child I know when prayer in school was unconstitutional, which it is, I could pray whenever I wanted, but not in a look-at-me wail, no in secret, as taught by my beloved Lord Jesus Yeshua.
Perhaps as a child I was simply insane, perhaps I still am, but I sure am happy this way.

We are not only to pray in secret. The apostles weren't tossed in prison or killed for praying in secret.

What I hear more and more in the US is that Christianity is "under attack." Of course it's not, not really; this is just fear talking. What this means, I've decided, is they think that because others have the same right to live their lives the way they choose as they do this is somehow an attack on them, their children or their values. Maybe people shouldn't see it so much as an attack on them and see it as an opportunity to show people grace and spread the gospel.
Jesus stated plainly that the world hates Him & hates the church. Yet here you are, saying the church isn't under attack.
The church is, & has always been under attack by the Devil thru any means he can, particularly thru people.
Your point here is against the Word of God, otherwise known as Jesus Christ.
I would advise you to be careful with such words, for many cross the line totally oblivious that they have.

No one is proposing any changes to the US Constitution to make it s Christian theocracy. At the same time no one can deny that the Constitution is rooted in Christian principles of liberty and justice for all, and the rule of law.

What should concern you more is the trashing of the Constitution by the Leftists in America. These are domestic enemies who are determined to destroy America, and its history.

What Christian believers have been “oppressing” who exactly?

The whole notion is absurd, and I believe just another leftist tactic to stir up people.

If anything, Christians are being oppressed. Are you at all familiar with what is being forcefully taught in government private schools, using Christian tax dollars?
This is the reason why there are schools paid for by believers.

Okay, so no one here is for the US becoming a Christian nation officially? I've heard a lot of noise but nothing so far about what the advantages and benefits will be to the country. If we're going to do something as drastic as amending the Constitution, shouldn't we have some idea of why and what the payoff will be?

How many amendments have there been to date?

I don't know. Why do you ask and what does it have to do with the topic?
You seem to be afraid of the possibility of the event of a Constitutional amendment even though, according to Wikipedia:

The last time a proposal gained the necessary two-thirds support in both the House and the Senate for submission to the states was the District of Columbia Voting Rights Amendment in 1978. Only 16 states had ratified it when the seven-year time limit expired.[9]

It also said that almost 12,000 amendments have been presented for ratification, and around 200 are proposed about every election cycle, or something to that effect. But there have only been 27 amendments that have actually become included within the Constitution. It just seems your scenario is unlikely to happen.

It’s hard to keep track of episodes but we’re in the movie Idiocracy now where Up is Down and Down is Up.

it's a terrible idea. just think what goes on in the BDF, magnify it a million-fold, et voilà. not good.

i honestly think most Christians agree with that. if you stop listening to the theonomists, you'll feel much better. :)

But if the US amends the Constitution to make the country a Christian nation, wouldn't that move God to pour out His Spirit, leading to a nationwide revival and turning to God? This is what a lot people believe. Would you say they're wrong, and if so, why?
