I think somewhere in here, I was writing about being jealous of the kid that got assigned the name Jesus im Spanish class.

I'm a married family man and don't do night clubs.

In my single days I did attend a bachelor party for a work associate at a strip club in the red-light district on Orange Blossom Avenue in Orlando, Florida. One of the few times I got wasted. Walked out of there with a lighter wallet too. Of course, this event happened to take place on pay day.

Gave up alcohol in 1992. Don't miss it.

I don't remember seeing Jesus at the club, of course, my find was fogged over with booze and the music was blasting away. Jesus was probably there though 'cause that's where the sick people were.

I was in need of healing.

It's probably just as well that he drifted away. I got pretty good at finding exceptions and logical contradictions to anything he might say, just for the sake of disagreeing with him.

I think the number of times I've been to a night club in my life can be counted on less than both my hands. It was a very long time ago,and only because college or work associates really pushed me to go.

For as much of an introverted nerd as I can be, I love a lot of club music, so I'd go for some of the music and to dance (about as gracefully as an elephant that's been hit with a tranquilizer dart.)

I'm not a drinker, so I would wind up being the designated driver (which was ok -- at least I knew people got home safe) -- and at the actual club, I'd wind up being a makeshift counselor.

I just remember two distinct times -- once when a guy was telling me about his wife of 8 years who'd just left him; and another guy said his dad was a pastor and completely overbearing, so he had been trying to get away God (as had been taught to him) all his life.

Guys at clubs don't want to take me home (which is a good thing, but they actually have their eyes on my friends) -- they just want to tell me their problems.

To be honest, in a way, I kind of miss it, as it had a way of at least making me feel useful at the time.

I recall Carman, the contemporary Christian singer talked about singing in a bar once. He said he sang the old Dottie Rambo song " He Looked Beyond My Fault". If you're going to talk to sinners you need to go where they are. Unless you aren't strong enough in your faith. If not stay away.

A group of believers in a church I used to attend wanted to start a group in which they went to bars or music clubs on a regular basis. The idea was to get something to eat (blessing the place with addes business,) talking to people, getting to know their stories, then offer to pray for them if they were receptive to it. No pressure and no "high sales" tactics. Just a listening ear and some aftercare.

I was super excited because I'd never been in a church that was willing to "go where the sinners are" like this.

Unfortunately, it never got off the ground (I never heard why,) but I'd be interested in joining another ministry like this if I find one.
