Which translation sits best with you?

Just curious.

Which translation below sits best with you and your understanding of James 3:17?

Given the context, both versions have strengths and flaws. “Considerate” fits better than “reasonable”, but “teachable” fits better than “submissive”. “Full of… good fruit” makes more sense to me than “divine good production”. I’d check the Greek to determine which is the better translation.

None of these, but this one:

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

And to be honest, it doesn't matter if it suits me or not. It matters what is truth.

And when you check the Greek, then you will have to determine which of the Greek definitions fits best. No thanks. I do not want to be the final authority on what God has said.

Yeah, that's a good reason to read translations in parallel and not stick to just one. You can actually get a better idea of what God is trying to tell you.

RSV is my favorite but use many when studying

Amen, I see this too, I am not qualified, sanctified, forgiven and saved by God, yet not qualified. So much to learn and am still learning to not think I know

Divine good production is about what was done in the filling of the Spirit and being based in sound teaching.

I believe that God has preserved his word in the English language through the KJV. You need to search, study, and figure it out.

A year ago I completed a reading of the entire NRSV. The RSV was the first version that I read many years ago.

Childlike faith. You don't have to be Jewish or know Hebrew/Greek nor ancient Greek to know to understand what He said in His word. Never in 50y saved in the lord had Him ever tell me what translation to stay away from. Countless times though ya get this thought to see what another translation says or how it was originally written yet even that can be very hard since there is not just one of those. Its faith... I don't wonder what man wrote it. Oh.. yeah I am not ashamed of Christ.. I like the Dake version also.

I love to hear what a Baptist says and what a Word of Faith preacher says. Its His word.. I never tell Him which preacher has the real truth. He does not play that game. Its so simple.. I just don't agree with everything "they" teach. They are seeking studying getting up falling down exactly like me.

Well ... the Albanian translation is not bad ... if you understand the 3 different dialects which even I as an Albanian don't understand.

Always KJV. The most legendary english bible.
