Hey Everyone,

I honestly feel sorry for parents these days. Apparently, it's not enough that they spend mass amounts of money on costumes and candy, but now people are expected to give "Boo Baskets" (like Easter baskets, but for Halloween) to their kids and significant others.

I think most of us in these threads are fairly sensible (and frugal!) people, but just for fun -- what kinds of booty did you hope for as a kid (or even now) in you Halloween stash? (My Mom used to give us a new Christmas ornament every year on Halloween, ironically.)

And this thread isn't just for Halloween of course -- we could easily, and probably will, do versions of this for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter... And this is not a debate on whether or not holidays should be celebrated -- if you don't feel it's right, don't celebrate it; if you believe you have a Godly motive and way of celebrating, go right ahead!

Rather, this is meant to be a fun look at what kinds of treats people might look forward to at certain times of the year!

I'm going to write a poll (but it only allows about 10 answers) based on a list of the Most Favorite Halloween Candy. It will be multiple choice and we'll be able to see who answers what :).

But obviously, the answers will be limited, so that's why you need to come back and post an answer here. :)

As for me, the holidays don't mean much to me anymore, but a friend and I send pictures of seasonal decor in our regions that we find adorable (and I occasionally splurge on a holiday-themed kitchen towel, even though I don't cook much.) :D

So I guess I'd like my Boo Basket to have candy (of course!) and maybe one of these:

After all, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!

How about you?

What Halloween goodies would be on your wish list?

It's just another ploy to squeeze a little more money out of people on another cash grab holiday.

And that's my grumpy old man comment for today. Tune in tomorrow!

It's all pagan junk anyway. All those choices in the poll are demonic. :p

Having said that... For demonic candy, kit kat isn't half bad. :D.

Twix is okay too, but only the right one. Only Democrats eat the left one.

Lol... I wanted to give you a "thumbs down" reaction for this, but some of our newer friends might not know I'm (mostly) joking if I leave negative reactions on your posts! :p

Yes, I know seasonal candy is just a cash grab heaped upon us, but some of the wrappers are just so cute:

Why does materialism have to be adorable -- not to mention, delicious?!

I don't eat much candy, but I do like Milky Ways. I like red licorice, but not twizzlers. I like sour candy. I can eat a peanut butter sandwich, but don't care for candy with peanut butter in it. I love caramels, both hard and soft.

Xylipops. Supposedly, they're good for your teeth. And there is a Vitamin C variety also, and some with other vitamins. Perhaps they will come up with Broccolipops someday.

May absolute favorite candy bar is Mallo Cups! These days there is only one store in my city that carries them and it's the furthest store from me, and that's probable a good thing lol. I'd be over consuming.

Other favorites:
Boyer's Butterscotch Smoothie peanut butter cups
Chase's cherry mash
Annabelle's Rocky Road
and Specially Selected Belgian Seashells (these are actually something you get at Aldi more toward the Christmas holiday, but they are still a fave chocolate of mine)

Skittles and Twizzlers are from the depths of hell.
Lol!

I'm thinking this is NightTwister's hallmark.

He darts into threads, tells us all which things we're talking about originate in hell (or at least, belong there,) and then darts out.

No wonder he his avatar is a picture of the Dread Pirate Roberts!

Poor old Jack Sparrow doesn't stand a chance.

Im sure there is... almost every city has them banned and there no where to be seen anywhere
Several years ago I had read somewhere that the owner died and his daughter took over. At that point, she restricted the areas to which the candy bars were sent out. If memory serves, I think she restricted it to just California. Mind you, it's been a while since I read the article, so I might be foggy on details. She does allow online purchases...

Going by the locator on the site, there are some places outside of Cali that sell them such as in AZ, Washington state, PA, and maybe a few others that I didn't see. But it's few and far between.

That's 'cause none of them were dark chocolate.
