One VERY important aspect of ministry to always keep in the forefront of your mind is the necessity and power of prayer. It is not simply to lift others in prayer for their situations, yet also to be mindful that while doing your part to minister and doing your part in the day to day, Pastoring necessitates a consistant and ever present mind to pray, pray, pray. Doing so does lift others in prayer towards God, however, it is also one of the simplist ways in which to unload the mental, emotional, and spiritual burden upon God and ask Him to extend to you the peace which comes from giving those day to day issues of your and others to Him. So that you are not overwhelmed and God is able to work out those issues and concerns while keeping you (the Pastor) free from them to be the open and willing vessel to be used for the Kingdom.

Yes, is awesome, glorious and the experience is amazing even though it may look hard, tough, and could be discouraging especially when no one believes in you because of your present situations but my favourite scripture has been 1Thessalonians 5:24. Faithful is He that called you...

A Sheppard needs sheep… so a pastor nerds members. A pastor also needs to eat … pay mortgage and pay off his seminary school loans which maybe be multiple thousands.

I pray the Holy Wind (Spirit) of the Lord will blow the sinners into your congregation.

Prayer is the single most important aspect in the life of the believer.
I can't imagine any sincere believer called to be a pastor that would not devote as much time possible to fervent effectual prayer and fasting.
Leonard Ravenhill stated that no man is greater than his prayer life. He was absolutely correct. And so are you.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24~ May the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He Who calls you is faithful, and He will do it

The office of pastor as the CEO of a congregation isn't in the New Testament. It calls for pastors (shepherds), but not one lead pastor over everyone else. Each congregation should encourage participation from every person; not just one person who is supposedly smarter and more spiritual than the rest, and everyone else spectators. It's unrealistic to expect one person to take responsibility for the whole congregation; that's why so many pastors burn out or get involved in things they shouldn't be involved in. We've gotten it very wrong for a very long time.

Thread Title
Being a pastor is really tough what did you do when you felt this way?

My View
A True Pastor ---One who is called by God will be Equipped by the Holy Spirit to Pastor their flock and when times get Tough they hopefully pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide and direct them through the touch situation so they have victory and an inner peace in solving whatever tough situation comes upon them ----

This is the beauty of being Called by God to pastor ----they have the inner support to help deal with whatever comes their way so the outcome is God's will not their own will -----

Few are Called by God to enter His Ministry ----Many are called by themselves and are left alone to struggle through the touch times on their own intellect and feel stressed and anxious about what to do ---they have not the inner support to help them in their decision making ----

The Pastor’s Desperate Need for the Holy Spirit
https://blog.lexhampress.com/2019/07/02/the-pastors-desperate-need-for-the-holy-spirit/

You and I are not God. Therefore when Jesus says that his disciples (and their successors in the pastoral office) will do greater works than he (John 14:12), he obviously doesn’t mean that they will do divine works under their own power. Rather, as fully authorized servants of Christ, his ministers are endowed and equipped with Christ’s own power and authority. And that’s exactly what Jesus did to equip the twelve for ministry. Having taught them carefully for three years, having finished his saving work of suffering, dying, and rising, Jesus authorized them to do his own work by bestowing on them his Spirit.

I say ------Without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit there is no True Minister ---Pastor ---Padre ----etc ---or True Ministry being Preached -----they live in this world and their god is Satan and when tough times come they rely on their worldly instincts to solve their issues ----

Before a person enters into God's Ministry they need to do some spiritual soul searching and either

While your description may be true in many churches, it is not true in all.
There are many churches where the one that is pastor is a shepherd and all members are encouraged to participate.
Some do and some do not participate.

Why is it that so many want to judge all churches the same when they have been in only a few?
Just because the ones you have been in do everything wrong in your judgment does not mean all do.

The question is whether the "pastor" is the head honcho. There is no such thing in the teaching of the New Testament as a professional head honcho pastor who is smarter, more educated and more spiritual than everyone else.

I am sure in some churches the pastor seems to take on the role of "head honcho" which is wrong.
But to claim all or most do is not true.
But it is also true that the pastor does have more knowledge and understanding of Scripture than most members.
Or I believe he should have.
But that does not make him a dictator.
He is to shepherd the church.

There it is, the problem in plain English. If you want a recipe for a weak and ineffective congregation, here's your instructions.

It's only a problem if the pastor fails to teach the congregation what they need to know. And is all too common, sadly.
Ephesians 4:11-13

And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for works of ministry and to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature to the full measure of the stature of Christ.

There are all kinds of pastors just as there are all kinds of people. The congregation can be the problem. Too many see the pastor as someone they pay, so he has to be on call 24/7. It's a disgusting attitude. Too many pastors do not know how to say no, so they end up burning out, quitting ministry or both. The church is a body and Jesus is the Head, not the pastor.

So you would not want the most knowledgeable person leading the church?
Why not?
