Some advice appreciated, recently (couple of weeks ago) swapped the Ryzen 7 5700x in my AM4, for a very noticeably more powerful R7 5800x but have some concerns about the high temps it reaches. What i've read literally says don't worry, it's perfectly normal for this cpu, to get hot enough to roast potatoes but i think extended, extreme heat production, must shorten it's lifespan?
Wasn't cheap at just under ₤200 either but prices are even crazier now. The corsair dominator 32gb kits i bought for my AM5 rigs which cost ₤80 each March '25, are now an eyewatering ₤380, seriously. So the 32gb Crucial Pro ddr4 kit i've bought for the AM4, seems a steal at a "mere" ₤240 in comparison. Also noticed it seems the bottom of the barrel is being scraped, a lot of components on offer are definitely seconds or returns, which i return quick when sent them. Wanted to replace the aorus elite ax v2 mb in it too, as this one needs nursing now, it's 3 years old and has bios issues once or twice a week which prevent full booting. However, the replacement i ordered was returned pronto, as it was in worse condition than the one i have! i'm cosy doing a full cmos reset, installing fresh/rolling back bios updates etc, the bios issues are just odd.
I really like this rig and would prefer it stay alive and kicking a while yet, thoughts welcome, especially about the cpu and mb. I'm a Linux user, mainly customised Debian for serious stuff, Linux Mint for play.
