New here Sparky? Is English your second language?Nobody is doing that here, so stop strawmanning. Love is a fruit of the Spirit.
The Scriptures I cited describe God as loving and summarize GRFS as faith in Jesus that produces love, so you should not view them as reducing to law.New here Sparky? Is English your second language?
GWH said “love summarizes the epitome of morality”. Because “God is love”, GWH effectively reduces the gospel to another law. If you don’t understand that ask, and I’ll expand on that tomorrow. I’m on an iPad now. Typing is slow.
you are not staying on point ... you claim Adam lied to Eve ...Well, I suppose you can say it is in accordance with my understanding. According to your understanding, did God give commands to bot Adam and Eve together?
it does not appear Eve received your memo:According to my understanding, the, "What is "This", that God is referring to "Eve having done", has absolutely nothing at all to do with her eating. That isn't even a part of the discussion. Sincer her eating has nothing at all to do with God's judgment on Eve, and her having given to Adam, and getting her to eat, "was" the ONLY thing discussed, does God's being upset with that part seem to be the key for God's judgment of Eve? If not, please explain from the text how God ever refers to Eve eating from the tree, and not to her giving to Adam and getting him to eat.
really? ... then rather than vociferously insisting Adam lied to Eve, why don't you just admit that you do not know what Adam told Eve?I'm trying to hold fast to the text without adding, subtracting or distorting any meaning in an attempt to force the text to align with my beliefs. I am willing to alter any/all of my beliefs on any topic to hold fast to whatever is being proven good/true.
you do not acknowledge that Eve answered God's question according to what she understood God was asking ... and Eve was there at the time, you were not ... and God did not correct her and tell her she was judged "for giving the fruit to Adam and getting him to eat".Well, since God says the command is only for Adam, and God judges Eve for giving the fruit to Adam and getting him to eat, and God reproves Adam alone two more times for disobeying the command He gave to Eve alone, according to my understanding, the one who deceived Eve was Adam. He's the one who took a command for him alone and didn't even share anything even close to what God said to him, to her.
God did judge Eve for eating of the tree.God agrees as well. God didn't judge Eve at all for eating of the tree. Just for giving the fruit to Adam and getting him to eat. That, was what the word of God says God was referring to during Eve's judgment. (See the discussion above.) Again, from the text, please prove your point if you disagree.
You do not know that "Nothing happened when Eve ate".Thou shat not certainly die, was truth. Nothing happened when Eve ate. No change at all when she both touched and ate. The change happened when "The woman that thou gavest to me gave me from the tree and I ate." "THEN the eyes of both of them were opened."
you do not know "nothing happened" when Eve ate.Well, since nothing happened when she did, I guess she believed a lie. Which is exactly what Adam told her is.
satan. It is. That is a good point. Now, using logic and reason, and what we do have from the account, who told Eve something completely different that what God commanded Adam alone.
Eve was not "exceedingly fearful". Fear is not anything Eve experienced prior to the fall. Are you stating there is ANY other possibility based on the text and Eve's exceedingly fearful, if inaccurate, wording? I'd love to hear it. Logically, reasonably, rationally, who is the only one who would have "put such a fear of God" in not eating, no never go near the thing. Don't even touch it "Lest you die".
your claim is Adam "told Eve a lie". The burden is on you to prove Adam lied to Eve.That's the whole point. God never said any of what she says God said. Everything she said God said was a lie.
Don't ask me to prove your point ... prove your own point.Again. You are correct. I await your sharing of who did tell her based on the text and events. Logically and rationally explain who you believe told her those lies?
or you could just let it lay and if you don't want to let it lay, then don't come to me and request that I (or anyone else) provide the Scriptural support to prove something not included in the record.Well, it sounds like you don't believe it was Adam. So, I await your conclusion as to who it was. If you can even show me a hint as to how it could be anyone else, I'd love to hear it. If, according to you, there isn't a single possibility anyone "else" could have done it, then let's look at the text and say, Adam told Eve what she repeats to the serpent in Gen. 3:2-3. If you disagree, explain to me why.
I believe Eve died the moment she ate of the tree and the death was spiritual in nature. I believe Adam ate to join his wife in her current state. Why then did Adam eat of the tree once he had seen that Eve had eaten of the tree ? I'm not sure but I think that maybe , he thought she was about to die and he wanted to die also rather than live without her ?
Eve confessed her own sin ; the serpent beguiled me and I did eat . The eating was the sin , she didn't need to confess that she gave it to Adam because giving it to Adam was not a sin . We r not responsible for each others sins and , she did not sin by giving it to Adam , Adam chose to eat it of his own free will . Eve was beguiled , Adam was not .you are not staying on point ... you claim Adam lied to Eve ...
But He altered what God said, told Eve a lie, she bought it, and they, and we suffered for it.
No one knows what Adam said to Eve and to insist that you know for a fact that Adam lied to Eve is 100% supposition on your part.
it does not appear Eve received your memo:
Genesis 3:13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Eve confessed that she ate.
Eve did not confess she gave to Adam.
Appears to me that Eve answered concerning having eaten of the tree ... she did not answer what you claim was the issue. Eve was there at the time ... you were not. Eve answered the question God asked, and in her understanding, she answered that she had eaten.
really? ... then rather than vociferously insisting Adam lied to Eve, why don't you just admit that you do not know what Adam told Eve?
Only God knows what Adam said to Eve. We only know what God said to Adam. We only know what Eve said to satan ... "God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die".
We do not know for a fact that Adam told Eve not to touch. We do not know for a fact that Adam reduced the "ye shalt surely die" to "lest ye die".
you do not acknowledge that Eve answered God's question according to what she understood God was asking ... and Eve was there at the time, you were not ... and God did not correct her and tell her she was judged "for giving the fruit to Adam and getting him to eat".
It was not Adam who deceived Eve ... Eve told God she was beguiled by the serpent. God did not correct her understanding. God did not point out that she had been deceived by Adam.
And again, you do not know what Adam told Eve.
God did judge Eve for eating of the tree.
God never corrected Eve when she confessed "I did eat". God didn't tell Eve "because you gave to your husband to eat" when He meted out His judgment for Eve having eaten.
You do not know that "Nothing happened when Eve ate".
You do not know there was "No change at all" when she ate.
I do not believe Adam was with Eve when satan approached her. I believe Eve was off by herself and it was satan who deceived Eve ... which is why there is no warning from Adam to Eve ... no words from Adam "Eve don't eat".
Do you think Adam was there and stood silent as he watched satan deceive Eve?
When Eve ate, she was still physically alive, but she was no longer clothed in righteousness.
When Adam saw Eve after she ate, then he ate the fruit she gave him to join her in her present state. Adam joined his wife (Genesis 2:24).
Genesis 3:7 does not state "THEN the eyes of both of them were opened".
Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
Eve's eyes were opened the moment she ate. Adam's eyes were opened the moment he ate.
reneweddaybyday said:
the fact still remains that Eve knew something would happen (she would die) if she ate of the tree.
you do not know "nothing happened" when Eve ate.
The lie believed by Eve was the lie of satan "Ye shall not surely die".
What God told Adam in Genesis 2:17 was "in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die" ... the meaning of the words "thou shalt surely die" is "dying you shall die". Their physical lives went on for hundreds of years, but there was a death that occurred "in the day". I happen to believe that the death which occurred when they ate was instantaneous and the death was spiritual in nature.

U stick with your Saviour and u will b in His Kingdom for sure , we cannot even begin to imagine the joy and the beauty that we will b a part of . Stay faithful to Him and u will b ecstatic ! The Glory of God will fill this earth and u will b a part of thatIt's just like God has been telling me, and telling me, and telling. My enemies are not to blame for what they did to me. It was the devil's fault. And he told me, my adversary is the devil, not those men. Even though they did such dirty nasty thing to me. I think God told me they will be saved, and they are going to turn very quick and straight way. That when the tribulation starts with them, they are going to quickly repent and immediately come into the kingdom of heaven. And, they will make it. It's their fault, it's the devil's fault.
I don't know if I will even been compensated by God for anything that has been done to me.
Actually, A&E were partners in crime (Gen. 3:6-7). The serpent contradicted God and thereby tempted A&E to commit the first sin. In Gen. 2:17, God had told Adam who told Eve they would die if they ate fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but the serpent introduced the option of ungodliness or functional atheism, which they chose. The first or original sin was not eating physical fruit, but rather choosing not to doubt the Devil, not to believe/cooperate with God, and not asking God why the serpent contradicted what He had told them (Matt. 7:7). It is wise to question God.
A&E tried to cover up their crime, refusing to accept responsibility for their mistakes. They should have confessed immediately (1John 1:9). Instead their ungodly attitude was manifested by a chain of sins, including their silly attempt to hide from God and to blame someone else and very likely “dysfunctional” parenting that probably contributed to the emotional disturbance (anger) in Cain that resulted in the murder of Abel and so on and so forth through the millenniums, initiating humanity’s sinful history of “King of the Hill” (KOTH) strife.
Sorry, what parable about Adam and Eve? I didn't know that there was one. Where do we find it?Y’all are ignoring the point of the parable about Adam and Eve, which is that they were partners in sin and equally guilty per Genesis 3:6-7.
Sorry, what parable about Adam and Eve? I didn't know that there was one. Where do we find it?
Those verses (NKJV) say:The question ought to be what does Gen. 3:6-7 mean?
1.) Because of Adam’s “Choice” Every man starts out spiritually dead.
2.) Eve was not Created when Adam was given the command not to eat. Gen 2:16-17, Gen. 2:21-23
3.) God says three times the command was only for Adam (Singular) not Adam and Eve. Gen 2:16-17, Gen 3:11, Gen 3:17
4.) Eve got God’s command wrong. She adds, “Nor touch it.”. Gen. 3:3
5.) Nothing happened when Eve ate. Gen. 3:6 (Satan’s statement in Gen 3:4 was not a lie. The statement about her knowing good and evil on the day she ate of it, was. It was Adam’s eating that resulted in them both gaining the knowledge of good and evil.) There is a time laps between her eating and Adam’s eating. When He ate, “Both” of their eyes were opened. Gen 3:7
6.) When God questions Eve, the question “What is this that you have done?”, it refers to Adam’s statement, made just prior, that Eve had given him the fruit. God never asks anyone whether Eve ate the fruit as well. Eve “believed”, due to receiving incorrect information about God’s command, God’s question referred to her eating, but that was not the case. Gen. 3:12-13
7.) Eve’s consequences were for failing in the role for which she was created: To be a helper suitable for him. Gen. 2:18, 1Co. 11:7 And she didn’t fail in that role till the moment she got Adam to eat from the fruit of the tree. At that moment, her eyes were opened as well.
8.) God’s word says, “Through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, so death spread to all men.”. Rom. 5:12 If Eve’s eating was a sin, it would have to say, “Through one woman sin entered into the world.”.
Don't forget, friend, in Christ there is neither male nor female. She did sin by eating of the tree simply because God commanded not to eat of it.1.) Because of Adam’s “Choice” Every man starts out spiritually dead.

No. Both were guilty. Adam for violating the command given to Him by God alone. Eve for failing in the role for which she was created by "Giving the fruit to the man and getting him to eat." God even includes what Eve had done in the reasons why he got his consequences. "Because you have listened to the woman and have eaten of the tree of which I told you (Singular) not to eat of, ..."Thank you for replying. I think we'll have to "agree to disagree" on this matter. I have never come across such an idea before that only Adam was guilty.
Yes, Adam was guilty of listening to what Eve said, rather than what God had said. However, We read of Eve's answer to God:No. Both were guilty. Adam for violating the command given to Him by God alone. Eve for failing in the role for which she was created by "Giving the fruit to the man and getting him to eat." God even includes what Eve had done in the reasons why he got his consequences. "Because you have listened to the woman and have eaten of the tree of which I told you (Singular) not to eat of, ..."
