I think the scriptures you quoted just proved rainstorm's point. If the violence in a video game bothers someone's conscience they shouldn't play it. And those who see nothing wrong with fictional violence should respect thst choice (just as the first person should respect other people's choices to play violent video games (assuming those games aren't producing negative real world consequences) ).

I understand, and to elaborate, I was also trying to probe to see if this was of his own faith or someone else imposing their faith onto him because I believe I've seen a lot of that in America and I don't think it is a good thing.

I remember Paul saying "Why should my freedom be dictated by another person's conscious?", which seems to be a thing greatly perpetrated in Churches these days.

Dude. Chill.

I never have understood the "You don't, so that casts aspersions on me doing it" thing. "What, you don't drink coffee? I love it! What's wrong with coffee? You saying there's something inherently WRONG with drinking coffee? Coffee isn't intrinsically evil or anything!"

I'm playing Wasteland 2 now (on supreme jerk difficulty, because I'm a min-maxer nerd.) But Rainstorm not playing doesn't have any affect on whether or not I play and/or enjoy the game.

As the Bible says, some people have no problem with eating meat. Some people only eat veggies. Let each eat what his conscience dictates, and not judge the other for doing something different.

Have you ever tried Neverball and Neverputt? Freeware games (legit free, download and play for no money ever.) Easy to play, hard to master, no violence. (Lots of frustration maybe.)

What about solitaire?

I mean you COULD play it with real cards, but what's the fun in that? You would have to shuffle the cards yourself! The computer or video can't do it for you.
 
The Kings and Queens can't sort themselves out without your hands and mind.

My dad was playing on his ninetendo when my sister was born apparently.
It was one of those tiny nintendos with handheld screen and buttons, before gameboys were invented (never gamegirls)

My sister had a snoopy one with a mirror screen that flipped up. I wonder what happened to it.

I think we're misunderstanding here since I never said that you were passing judgement.

What I was getting at is that you shouldn't think that fictional violence has moral implications just because someone tells you it does, by your own faith, only you can decide that and the reason why I'm even saying this is because it seems as those Churches and Christians in America love to perpetrate this kind of confusion of making everyone feel bad and guilty because everything isn't gumballs and rainbows.

Not only that, but in America, there does seem to be a thing of trying to feminize boys and men, and I remember one time in the 6th grade at recess, me and some boys found a bunch of Acorns and threw them at each other because that's what you do with Acorns, I remember doing that in kindergarten.
However the Teacher got upset and called our parents to complain that we were doing something that boys do, and if I remember correctly, my Dad was in the head space of "Call me when he actually does something wrong!".

the computer/video version

It's not quite the same as the real version. I personally think the real version is way better, but its too big to fit in my house.
 
I don't remember playing with acorns, but I would try to grow one if I found one. Or I could throw them and where it lands, maybe one day will become a big oak tree!

This happened to a pinecone me and my brothers once played with and threw near the creek. It is now a HUGE tree.
 
Some games are too violent to be played for some people.
I mean they had R ratings on them, like movies do.

I can see where Rainstorm is coming from, and it's not always to do with faith. Some games are just too graphic and violent. Not every video game has to be a horror story or a shoot em up.
 
Have you played Plants vs Zombies?
I've only read the books. The books are very good. I would buy them for the library,

Some kids liked Fat Freddys or Friday Freddies or something like that, they said was based on a game, but it looked too dark for me personally.
