Sis was pleased I got her the Baby Sitters Club book, it even had patterns on the page edges.

I started reading the first chapter, but I didn't read the whole thing. Mary Anne writes/narrates the first chapter. It's summer once a gain and all the Babysitters save Mary Anne and Stacey are going away for the school holidays. Mary Anne, stuck at home in Stoneybrook is feeling lonely and loss what to do without her friends. So the other babysitters propose to write to her so she can feel included in all the fun stuff they are doing in their vacations.
Good to hear :-)

my Incovenience Of Penguins book is taking a while to get through. See this mad Englishman's mission in life is to see all 19 varieties of penguins, so much so, he takes up travel writing jobs to pay for his obsession. It even breaks up his marriage.

He travels to Antartica, New Zealand, a place called South Georgia, and the Godforsaken Falklands Islands, just to get a glimpse of them. Mad I tell you, completely mad.

On the insert of photos its got ID of each one. But throughout the chapters, he makes little footnotes wisecracks all the time, and it's annoying, as if he's reading his own story and can't help but comment on it.

Oh trying to have a conversation with a person who does not read any books is really hard.

My cousin rings me and all he asks is what the weather is like and what I had for dinner othertimes he doesn't have all that much to say. Then he asks me what noises I am making while I am not speaking after I'd finished saying 'it's cold outside' and 'pineapple pizza'

So I started to talk about the book I am reading (the penguin book) as he's not saying anything all that interesting. I even read a little passage on it and explain the plot of it.

After a while of no response because obvs he hasn't read it and can't quite think of what to ask or say about it, I then ask him what books he's been reading.

He says he doesn't read books.

He reads online. So I ask him well what do you read online then? He says the NZ Herald. I say ok, what was in the news today? Then he says he can't remember. He asks me if I read it and I say not online and not really as it always has news of people dying, politics and car crashes.

Arrgh.

South Georgia, is that the country or the state?

South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands - it's a British overseas territory, somewhere near the Falkland Islands, which is also British, off the coast of or near Argentina, in South America, which is in the Southern Hemisphere. In the South Atlantic Ocean.

Don't tell Trump, he'll try to take it over

No, I don't ever see him.

Man you are talking some nonsense today.

Could you stick to the topic.
Which is paperback writer. What books have you written or read?

I don't know him.

I am now reading Auto Biography. It's a book about cars.
I am up to M, for Maserati, next will be N for Nissan.

I have got it in Hardback, but it has come out in paperback. It will be interesting what this guy Mat Watson says about the cars I have driven.

I don't know, it's some place where there's lots of penguins. South of course..as in Southern Hemisphere. Maybe near Antarctica.
oh ok, I didn't know their was a Georgia that far south, I know the country is on the Medditereanian Sea in the Middle East and the state is north of Florida in the US.

Finished the Auto Biography book. It got a bit boring in the end. It's British so he mentioned a lot of European cars that nobody drives here because it would cost too much to import/ship them over. Can't just drive them all the way to the Pacfiic Ocean.

It was kind of interesting that a motor journalist gets treated to all these test drives and car launches though, some of the fancier ones put him up in first class hotels, they are hoping to get a good review on the write up.

Yea I'd never heard of it either. I wish the author had included a map in his book, but no.
I know fiction is made up not real, but if your going to include a real region or location, the writer should know where it is even if they use a fake name for it.

This book wasn't fiction....it was a travel memoir.
Sorry but it did come out in paperback.
