All future sins have indeed been paid for but not necessarily forgiven. For example, when Jesus died on the cross, all sin was paid for, including future sins. However, the scriptures teach that for one to avail themselves of Christ's grace we must repent and believe on the Lord to receive forgiveness and salvation. This demonstrates that even though future sins have been paid for, not all future sins have been forgiven. We must continue confessing our sins and asking forgiveness as part of our walk with the Lord.

"He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." Proverbs 28:13

Rom 3:25 clarifies this "Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"

We are forgiven for past sins which we may have committed. Yes confession and repentance are also required.
How can one confess and repent of sins that do not exist yet? May not even exist, ever?

The reverse would be true.
Imagine waking up in hell and asking God why you are there. God says "Next week you could have committed adultery."
You say, "But next week hasn't come yet. I never committed that sin."
God says, "Nevertheless, you could have"

Would you like to burn in hell for something you never did?
It's the same thing, how can you confess and repent of something that has not happened yet?

Hello Captain Kirk and welcome to our planet!

I'm in a hurry, so please excuse my brevity for now.

Starting with the salvation that only comes from Jesus Christ, He did everything so our works do not apply to any job description for going to Heaven. The exclusive way to receive that gift is through faith/believing in Him, Who paid the the price for ALL sins of history past and future.

You brought up confession of sins as in 1 John 1:9.
That epistle is written to believers in Christ only. It is not a salvation description except for the reminder of the means of salvation recorded in 5:11-13 KJV .

1:9 forgiveness applies to what then?
4And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The full joy of the brethren through fellowship with the Lord. That is based upon the blood of Christ as described in vs 7 too.
When we sin, our fellowship is broken.
It's not the best time to pray because David said, if I regard sin in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. When we confess our sins to Him, we are restored to fellowship and back on speaking terms with our Father.

Does that make sense?

A person that commits a sin in the future has to be sincerely sorry for doing so and have the attitude that they do not want to do the sin again.

Or else it is not true repentance for that means you do not want to do the sin anymore.

To sin intentionally with the attitude that it is forgiven is not repentance for you are not turning from sin.

Also God is not mocked for whatever a person sows that shall they reap.

Will you sin with the attitude you are forgiven and not take the initiative to stop sinning.

Who twisted your arm to sin.

If you sin you could of made the choice not to sin so what is the excuse.

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,

If a person sins intentionally, holds on to sin, then the blood of Christ cannot wash away their sins.

A person with the attitude they will sin because they are forgiven before they do it is holding on to sin.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

If a person hates sin, and does not want sin, and allows the Spirit to lead them to help them accomplish that they can abstain from sin.

But some people like to make an excuse so they can enjoy sin but there is no excuse.

You cannot abstain from sin is not a valid thing to say for the Bible says you can abstain from sin.

That does not mean you might not sin for we are in the flesh but if do sin you have to repent not wanting the sin and allow the Spirit to lead you.

God knows the heart whether you are holding on to sin or not.

You cannot repent when you do the act but hold on to the sin for that is not repentance.

Every time we sin we forfeit repentance until we correct it.

1 Timothy 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Some people do not allow the Spirit to lead them and love sin more than God which they will not let go of the flesh.

Which they are ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Which Jesus said He never knew them because they were workers of iniquity.

People that say they cannot abstain from sin fall in to this category holding on to sin which they are not allowing the Spirit to lead them.

Php 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

They say Jesus does it all and nothing is required of them but the Bible says work out your own salvation for we have a responsibility to allow the Spirit to lead us to be Christlike.

Confessing Jesus is a work, and repenting of our sins is a work.

1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Charity, love in action, is greater than faith.

And faith works by love.

No love then no faith.

1Co 13:5 thinketh no evil;
1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.

Love does not think an evil thought, and does not sin.

Any person who says they cannot abstain which they are holding on to sin that is not love then their faith is no good.

1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jn 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Love is only valid in deeds, works.

James said that a person is justified by works and not faith alone.

Because works of love is greater than faith.

Paul said he could have all faith so that he could remove mountains but if he did not have charity, works of love, then he is nothing.

Which Paul agrees with James.

We are saved by faith, and not by works when we first confess Christ for that is all we can do.

But when we allow the Spirit to lead us then we have to have works of love by the Spirit to have valid faith.

1Ti 2:3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
1Ti 2:4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Mat 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

God wants all people to be saved and He does the calling and choosing on earth.

Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

God calls things that have not happened yet as though they already happened.

Predestination means God had the plan of salvation to give to mankind before the foundation of the world but this salvation is to whoever wants it because He wants all people to be saved.

The OSAS people should understand what the Bible is saying.

God will forgive sins by those who repent during his great and dreadful day.

“‘In the last days, God says,

Jesus died for all our sins for certain his blood is able to cover it . But it’s also important to him what he said about things that we hear and believe him

consider how this could affect things

“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

In the gospel Jesus knew he was dealing with sinners it’s who he spent his time with and ate with and communed with its who he had come to save and touch and heal.

thongs like that in his doctrine shows that we still need mercy even after we are following and if we are following the lord wouldnt we do the things he says ? I’ve often suprisingly learned many people don’t know what Jesus taught in his sermons but will also insist we must obey.

Do we forgive others who offend ? Are we merciful when someone wrongs us ? do we let the lord do the judging of others ? Do we never condemn anyone ?

These are things Jesus often spoke about and it seems of such value to imperfect people by a list of rules …… and men judging by them

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
Rom 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Yes Christians can sin as they are still forgiven. However, what is changed when a person becomes a Christian is that the desire to sin is often lost. As a Christian matures (grows in Christ-likeness), he transitions from walking by the selfishness of the flesh to walking in the selfless love to be found in walking by the Spirit.

John's letters were written to those of Israel under the kingdom gospel who were waiting for the rest of Israel to receive Jesus as their Messiah. The "confession" of sin that John writes about (confess = homologos=say the same words) is to bring oneself into an alignment with what God would say.

Those of Israel had their sins forgiven by trusting that Jesus was the Messiah.

Jhn_8:24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

1 John seems to address "fellowship" more that the judicial forgiveness of sins. For this reason the forgiveness of 1 John 1:9 may refer more to a restored relationship. If those of Israel could see their sins as God does, they would bring themselves into an alignment with God and able to have that fellowship.

1Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

Acts 13:38 - Therefore, let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

So it's all good to live in sin then?

Sure are a lot of Christians living in sin these days claiming it's all good because they've been falsely taught that all future sins are automatically forgiven without them repenting of their sins or confessing them to the Lord so they can be cleansed from their sin.
