If you turn form sinning, you are a non-sinner.

The eternal security crowd always seems to be arguing for being able to remain in sin while claiming they are in right standing with the Lord while they are engaging in sinful behavior.

It's almost as if these folks want to keep living in sin or something. It's always odd to hear them arguing for sin. Weird.

OK, then you had better adhere to your belief.

LOL

That reasoning seems backwards.
Don't the Catholics want their people to do works to increase grace ?
Why would they excommunicate over that ?

OK

Even the Catholics have some residual truth in their past.

I don't know.
You seem to want to discuss Catholicsm, but I am not Catholic.

I've never heard of that, but who knows ?
There's no truth in performance based religion only self glorification , and idolisation mostly, but anyhow it's upto people what denomination they want to be, but some don't even know the history behind the church there supporting, and I don't want to go back and fourth with hardened Catholics, been there done that, and no thanks

But anyhow look at John 6:65 which states Jesus saying no one can come to me unless the father has enabled them, this is one of many other similar sacred scriptures that have much meaning, but there's more in depth meaning there to, which is the lord can still speak to people with the father before there enabled.

But listen the key take away here, is when something is authorised by the father does it fail ?

He sent his one and only son. And well you know the story right.

Why did Paul promote works?

2 Corinthians 12:9

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Jn 15:5 apart from Christ? Nothing!

Phil 4:13 in Christ? All things!

Power of Grace:

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Hebrews 9:14

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

Hebrews 10:36
For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Romans 14:18

For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

Without works service is impossible!

Thks
Paul very much preached to the Jews they no longer needed to follow the mosaic law to the Galatians, which was what you call a works based religion, he also maintained that having faith in Christ alone was sufficient, but those foolish Galatians would not have it, and argued you must be circumcised, and all that jazz the Jews looked to have Paul cursed placing himself under a curse called anathema, have you heard of that curse ?

I find it odd that you think you can merit salvation through sinless, perfect obedience. (Romans 3:23; 6:23; 1 John 1:8-10)
Does that mean you don't think obeying God is necessary for sa;vation ?
The obedience that comes from faith (Romans 1:5) is the mark of genuine faith so no obedience at all would demonstrate no faith.
I agree.
So I hope that we also agree that sinners don't have faith ?
Jesus Christ saves us through faith based on the merits of His finished work of redemption alone (Romans 3:24-26) and not based on the merits of our obedience/works. (Romans 4:2-6) Genuine faith produces obedience/works so obedience/works is necessary in the sense that it is the fruit of salvation and no fruit/works at all would demonstrate there is no root/faith. (James 2:14)
Jesus did everything necessary to make me a new creature.
And my behavior glorifies Him and our Father.
The moral aspect of the law refers to divinely ordained standards that are universal and timeless, intended to guide human conduct in a way that aligns with God’s holiness and justice. Unlike ceremonial or civil laws, which were specific to Israel’s historical and cultural context, the moral law is rooted in God’s unchanging nature and applies to all people
So, the ten commandments of the OT...or the two commandments of Jesus Christ ?
Amen!
For the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. (Romans 13:8)
Thank you for making my point.
So quit making it look like I am trying to earn anything.
If it's achievable then why does the Bible say in Ecclesiastes 7:20 that there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins?
Because at the time it was written, it was true.
If it's achievable then why does the Bible say ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God? (Romans 3:23)
That is just a plain truth...if you exclude Enoch, and Elijah, and Elishah, and Samuel, and John the Baptist, and Jesus, and perhaps others.
Also, if it's achievable, why does the Bible say, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us??? (1 John 1:8-10)
The words written about those in darkness (sin) don't apply to those walking in the light (God).
A man cannot walk in the light and darkness at the same time, as I already explained to you in post #333. Again, our walk is about location (in the light) and direction (walking in that direction) and not perfection.
You are correct, man cannot walk in both sin and God.
I have chosen to walk in God, and there is no sin in here.
No, you believe we are either sinners or saints based on sinless perfection or a lack of sinless perfection.
Absolutely.
As you stated above, we can't walk inth elight and in the darkness at the same time.
The obedient walk in the light-God, and the disobedient walk in the darkness-sin.
All believers will be saved. (John 3:18; Acts 13:38-39) The bad news: ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God and the wages of sin is death. The good news: BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 3:23; 6:23) Not through sinless perfection. (1 John 1:8-10)
The devils believe, so will they be saved ?
Is Jesus blood only good enough to wash away past sins only?
No, as it also allows our sanctification, atonement, justification, consecrations, cleansing, and being set apart.
Plus it indirectly facilitates the destruction of the old man and rebirth of the new creature !
Continuing to walk in the light is proof of genuine conversion.
Amen.
Once again, the moral aspect of the law refers to divinely ordained standards that are universal and timeless, intended to guide human conduct in a way that aligns with God’s holiness and justice. Unlike ceremonial or civil laws, which were specific to Israel’s historical and cultural context, the moral law is rooted in God’s unchanging nature and applies to all people.
Can we substitue the Lord Jesus' two commandments for all of that ?
Love God, love neighbor ?
I already answered this question twice. 👀
Jesus' power is not the problem. Our flesh is the problem. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Why would you be concerned about the skin and bones, when the converted walk in the Spirit ?
The 10 commandments are included in the law of Moses, so is that a yes to my question? You believe that you will be saved based on the merits of perfectly obeying the ten commandments? Are you really that delusional?
I feel that obedience to the ten commandments is the natural result of loving God with all my heart, mind, strangth, and soul.
Believers will be judged according to their works in order to determine rewards and loss of rewards. 1 Corinthians 3:11 - For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
Believers, yes.
The sinful will hear this on the day of judgement..."Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (Matt 7:21-13)
Unbelievers will be judged, condemned and cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:11-15) Instead of rewards there will only be condemnation for unbelievers and for some greater condemnation. Matthew 23:14 - Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore, you will receive greater condemnation.
Yep.
The disobedient will suffer eternally, for their hate of God.

Freed18,
No. It is a free gift given by God to His elect children. Nothing is required from them; everything is given to them, and that's what makes salvation by His grace alone. Jesus Christ is the Savior—man is not.
I do not believe salvation will be forced on anyone.
When I had the chance to start serving God, I rejected it.
But later, in the midst of my misery, it was again offered to me, and I accepted it and both of its rquirements.

It's almost as if these folks want to keep living in sin or something. It's always odd to hear them arguing for sin. Weird.
You will never get used to it.
How long have you been repentant; a non-sinner ?

There's no truth in performance based religion only self glorification , and idolisation mostly, but anyhow it's upto people what denomination they want to be, but some don't even know the history behind the church there supporting, and I don't want to go back and fourth with hardened Catholics, been there done that, and no thanks
I feel that if you ever truly turn from sin, you will find out it has nothing to do with you, your performance, glorification, or idolisation.
It is all about submission to the One who loves us.
But anyhow look at John 6:65 which states Jesus saying no one can come to me unless the father has enabled them, this is one of many other similar sacred scriptures that have much meaning, but there's more in depth meaning there to, which is the lord can still speak to people with the father before there enabled.

He sent his one and only son. And well you know the story right.
I know the rest of the story, and Jesus did not leave us to forever be servants of sin.
In Him, no sin exists.
We are in Him, so where can sin fit in ?
It cannot.

It may be you may not be best friend with people here, but we should be on guard at all time,

And the reality is everyone who attackd once saved, is generally either catholic pouncing on people or a loud mouth, I know the complete history, and if you want to be on there side, and excuse there behaviour in favour of we must bullies if we don't agree with there arguments , well I can guarantee somebody higher up than me will not be impressed, how you cut his children of for favour of anti saved once saved people, who just randomly accuse people of all sorts.
The Catholic Faith holds to O.S.A.S.

After the initial grace of justification we abide in Christ
(Jn 15:5) and endure to the end
(mt 10:22) then after death the judgment (acts 10:42) and those found worthy enter eternal salvation and you bet once saved always saved!

"But in this life we only have union due to grace, with the promise of eternal salvation"! Amen?

Amazingrace,
your claim that we have grace but not eternal salvation and that this life can be lost by sin, is a complete denial of Scripture and the Savior. You quote Ephesians 2:1, but you completely miss that this statement was written strictly to those who were already saved - not to everyone. Paul is describing a past-tense, completed spiritual life-giving miracle to His sheep to remind them that it is God who unilaterally quickened them while they had been dead corpses.
John 10:10 states Christ came to give life, and John 10:28 defines what that life is: "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." If the life given by the Savior can be lost through human failure, then it was never eternal, and the text would be wrong. Further, that would make the Savior not THE Savior as we are told He is. By claiming that grace is just a temporary fuel that empowers your own actions to earn eventual salvation, you are turning a completed gift from God into a conditional reward, paid for your own work. This would make Christ a co-savior with man, however, nowhere in Scripture are we informed that man is a co-savior with Christ.
You ask what the conditional statements mean in Scripture? The answer can be found within the verses themselves. The epistles are filled with edifying instructions and descriptions that demonstrate to the living sheep their spiritual identity - not instructions on how to become saved but rather that they who truly manifest such attributes have already been saved - it shows effect, not cause. Further, they show the absolute impossibility of a person being renewed should they choose to turn back to an abiding trust in their own works for salvation after superficially having heard and trusted in Christ as Savior, which demonstrates that they never actually became saved. Hebrews 6:9 explicitly states to true believers: "But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak." The attributes that accompany salvation are permanent and can never be lost. Ongoing perseverance is the unalterable effect of those who have been saved by God; it is never something that buys grace. Titus 3:5 explicitly rules out works of righteousness which we have done for salvation. Hebrews 10:14 clearly states that by one offering Christ has perfected forever them that are sanctified.
Eph 2 has nothing to do with those who are saved!

Where you saved 2000 yrs ago?

It is written in past tense, already accomplished, and refers to part of the process of salvation, cos it says saved, it refers to the general redemption accomplished by the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, not your microscopic / split second act of "faith alone"!

The atonement or redemption by which Christ brings us to life in grace!

Romans 3:24

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Romans 5:2

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. (Stand in grace not salvation)

Grace provides union with God

Isa 53
PS 51
PS 23

Lk 8:15
Jn 15:1-6
Acts 9:4
Eph 5:32

So in your understanding Jn 10:10 refers to salvation?

I have come to give salvation and salvation more abundantly.

When it refers to the life of grace!

Jn 1:16 of His fullness (divinity) we have all received, GRACE FOR GRACE!

THKS

Does that mean you don't think obeying God is necessary for salvation?
You could never be obedient enough to merit salvation (Romans 4:4-6) yet if you were put on trial for being a Christian would there be any evidence to convict you? (James 2:14-26) Faith is the root of salvation and obedience/works which follows is the fruit. No fruit at all would demonstrate there is no root.
So, the ten commandments of the OT...or the two commandments of Jesus Christ?
Which of the ten commandments of the OT does the two commandments of Jesus Christ exclude?
So quit making it look like I am trying to earn anything.
Salvation based on sinless perfection is earning.
Because at the time it was written, it was true.
Only at that time?
That is just a plain truth...if you exclude Enoch, and Elijah, and Elishah, and Samuel, and John the Baptist, and Jesus, and perhaps others.
So, ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23) EXCEPT for Enoch, Elijah, Elishah, Samuel, and John the Baptist, and perhaps others? Scripture does not say that. The ONLY exception is Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:22)
The devils believe, so will they be saved?
In James 2:19, we see that the demons believe "mental assent" that "there is one God," but they do not believe in/have faith in/trust in Jesus Christ for salvation. In other words, the demons do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 16:31) and are not saved. Their trust and reliance are in Satan (and not in Jesus) as demonstrated by their rebellion in heaven and continuous evil works. There is a difference between mere "mental assent" belief (as the demons have) and saving belief in Christ, which the demons do not have, and only genuine believers do have.
In Matthew 7:21, we read - Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

John 6:40 - For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

In Matthew 7:22-23, we read - On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness!' Jesus never knew these many people, which means they were never saved.

In context, Jesus is warning against false prophets. Matthew 7:15 - Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. Hence, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:17 - Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, BUT a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them. *This puts verse 23 into perspective.

Only is they forsake and confess their sin can they be cleansed of unrighteousness.
Repentance is not taught these days and that's be design of the devil to trick preachers in to not teaching this.

The devil knows that if we sow to the flesh we reap corruption (Gal 6) and he knows the escape is to sow to the Spirit so we can reap eternal life once more and be back in right standing with the Lord. The devil has tricked many in to mocking God by saving there's no need to forsake and confess our sins to be cleaned and to obtain mercy so we can be back in right standing with the Lord if we were to sin.

If a person does not forsake and confess their sins, then they are still on the hook for their sins (see: Proverbs 28:13 and 1 John 1:9)
To say this is not true is to claim we do not reap what we sow which is mocking God according to Gal 6:7,8
This is how we know the lack of teaching on repentance is the work of the devil

So in your view mankind reaping what he sows is now a thing of the past?
That would be mocking God according to what the Lord says in Gal 6:7,8

This sort of teaching leads people to believe they can live in sin and still be saved which is a doctrine of demons.
This is one of the numerous error that came from the so called reformation as it's not biblical.

Scooterjackson,
your claim that righteousness and spiritual standing depend on human performance contradicts Scripture. Romans 8:1 clearly states that there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Eternal spiritual security rests entirely on being placed in Christ Jesus—an act God alone performs for His children through His mercy and grace, not by human works. Walking after the Spirit is the outward evidence of a saved and quickened child.
1 John 1:7 states that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. Christ’s blood did not purchase a probationary status; it cleared the ledger once for all for those God chose to be covered by His blood. Galatians 6 instructs those already saved, rather than it instructing the spiritually dead how they can earn justification. Sowing to the flesh means trusting in human ability, which produces spiritual corruption; sowing to the Spirit means trusting in Christ as the Savior and is the evidence of the eternal life already given. By making eternal life depend on lifelong human compliance, you turn God’s complete and perfect gift into something conditional and make Christ a co-savior with man rather than the sole Savior declared as such by Scripture. Titus 3:5 explicitly excludes our works of righteousness as being a cause of salvation, and Hebrews 10:14 states that by one offering Christ has perfected forever those who are sanctified.

your claim that righteousness and spiritual standing are dependent upon man's performance, is a denial of what Scripture actually teaches. Romans 8:1 clearly states that there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. Eternal spiritual security depends entirely on being placed in Christ Jesus which God alone does for His children through His mercy and grace and not by man's works. Walking after the Spirit is the outward manifestation and evidence of a saved/quickened child.
In 1 John 1:7, the text states the blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin. The blood of Christ did not purchase probation: it once and for all cleared the ledger for those so chosen by God to be covered by His blood. Further, Galatians 6 is edification to those already saved, not rules directed to a spiritually dead corpse on how they can earn justification. Sowing to the flesh means trusting in the flesh and which brings spiritual corruption. Instead, trusting in Christ as THE Savior is sowing to the Spirit and is manifested by already having been given eternal life. By making eternal life depend on your own lifelong compliance you make God's completed, perfect gift conditional. This makes Christ into a co-savior with man, not as THE sole Savior as Scripture clearly tells us He is. Titus 3:5 explicitly rules out any of our works of righteousness for salvation. Hebrews 10:14 states that by one offering Christ has perfected forever them that are sanctified.

Hebrews 5:9 - And being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey Him

I always wonder how people continue to believe they are saved anyway if they aren't obedient to the Lord.

Some come right out and say that obedience is not required for salvation even though that's not what the Word of the Lord says.

Apparently this is further proof that some among us openly reject some things the Lord says as they walk in disobedience.

I hear people say this often on this forum but have never seen anyone claim they can do whatever they want and be saved without any consequences. Where are these people who claim disobedience is irrelevant? Bring your receipts.

Grace must be increased ?

That's Catholic doctrine did you know ?
What other doctrine is there?

It also Scripture!

Mt 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Acts 20:32

And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.

Rom 5:17

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

1 Peter 4:10

As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

2 Peter 3:18

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

That is expected to be heard by people on this forum who suffer from a severe case of anti-OSAS derangement syndrome.
