I found out last night that an older neighbor of mine has been without food or heat for at least a few days. The temperature here today didn’t get above 15; last night it was -15. We live in a very small community here, and this neighbor has a fairly bad history with most of the town, and so I’m not sure that anyone is interested in helping out. I do want to help, I have plenty of good food to share and fire wood for her stove...but again, her history complicates things. I can’t just knock on her door because she is honestly likely to shoot first and ask questions later. I’m pretty concerned about her, though, so please can you pray for a way to get her some supplies, and more importantly, a long-term solution for her situation? I truly hope I can find a few people here willing to share some of their extra with her. I appreciate your prayers:)

You have told about a very sad situation. Prayer has been said for this neighbor that she allows neighbor's to reach out to her. God bless you for your concern and consideration.

Is there any way to get her phone number? Maybe you can call and say you have extra supplies and you would like to share them with her. Or perhaps your local law enforcement would be willing to drop them off for you. And call the nearest Social Services office - perhaps they can help with long term assistance.

Thank you all :) I saw her get on the senior’s bus that goes into town each Tuesday, which she has never done before, so that’s a good sign- she may be able to get a few things herself. I’ve been trying to find someone here who is on speaking terms with her, which has proven difficult. There is someone with the sheriff’s department who lives out here and could help; I’ll contact him. And I should take the opportunity while I know she will be gone all day to at least haul some firewood over.

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Is her name and number in the phone book? If it is, why not call her first and ask her if she could use some of your extras. (Extra food. Extra logs, etc.) That way she knows not to shoot first. And then ask her when is a good time to come over. Added bonus: she knows when NOT to shoot.

(BTW, sounds like your perfect opportunity too.)

If you do that, leave a note saying who you are. It's the first step in developing the friendship. (If she gets mad, at least you know to duck. lol)

Praying for her! I have three neighbors all women who are seniors. I would like to visit them more often, but whenever they are outside, they quickly duck their head. I don't think they want me approaching them. Kinda sad...maybe they're afraid. I just wanna make them sandwiches and cookies. I also wanted to talk to them for a little bit each week. I've heard that's good for seniors. Unfortunately, they don't really give me the chance. I believe all three of them are widows.

Any updates? I would like to know if anything has improved.

Thank you all for your prayers (and suggestions)!

Update- Quite a few people ended up helping this woman out- she was able to get food and firewood and even food for her pet goat. I also pitched in the food I had. She has someone checking on her regularly now. It’s been awesome to see the Lord working through this community to help her, despite past troubles. Thanks again!

we have a good feeling that your 'concern' created a positive reaction around
a group who have the heart of Jesus like you do...GBY...

one other thing, when you feel Jesus pressing on your heart, never FEAR, for if
it is a true calling, He will always see you through to the end, whatever it may be...

each and every one of us would be 'better-off', if we could be blessed with a
neighbor such as yourself!!!...
