Wow!

I’m terribly sorry you had to go through that, and that I didn’t even know that you did.

That’s what I get for not checking the prayer request section frequently enough.

Praying the Lord fully heals you.

So your surgery was successful?

To answer your question, there are apparently 3 treatment options for me.

1. Radical prostatectomy (simply am unable to pronounce that word!)

2. Fancy word for some type of radiation.

3. Active monitoring.

As of now, my Dr believes option 3 is the way to go. At least until the periodic test monitoring shows the need to move to one of the other options. But he thinks they may not be necessary for a decade or longer. Although he also told me he didn’t think the enlarged prostate would have any cancer before the surgery. But I’m going to trust him.

Just trying to make peace with the idea that there is cancer in me.
Dear Ed... it is not your fault you did not know, and I did not create a prayer thread for this either ;) I have mentioned it here and there, but not talked about it a lot because I would rather focus on more positive things and not deal with people asking me about it overly often. The most extensive posts about my treatments and surgery are probably in Jerry's Midnight Confessions' thread, here, here, and here (<- those are links :))

Being able to trust your doctor/s and medical team is a good thing! And certainly we know that the pronouncement of cancer upon our lives is no longer a death sentence. I was given a lot of conflicting information about my situation, and came to realize fairly quickly that my faith is in God, and so despite any uncertainty about what was really going on in my body, I gave it all over to Him. I do find it a little odd in your circumstance, that removing the cancer is not option number one, but, ha, I know very little about prostate cancer, and I have also learned, from talking with various people, and especially my closest sister, who is a retired emergency room nurse of almost thirty years, plus a cancer survivor herself, that every cancer is treated differently. So if your doc says, let's wait and see, that may be the best option for you, though getting a second opinion on that as well would not hurt. I only say that because cancer can metastasize, and you do not want it doing that and/or getting into your lymph system. I did just call my brother who has had prostate issues, but there was no answer; if I get any helpful/pertinent info from him, I will be sure to pass it along to you :) In the meantime, I wish you well :D

Hello again Ed :) I just got off the phone with my brother :) His prostate issues were not cancer, though he has had two surgeries for resections due to blockages. He also told me that prostate cancer is one of the few that is not likely to metastasize, so that is probably why your doc is doing the wait-and-see. My brother has had some interesting medical experiences that have put him in the category of those with miraculous recoveries. You can read about some of that here:)

Saw this now. I pray God will touch your heart and mind and the hearts and minds of the Medical Professionals caring for you that all of you will come to an agreement on what is the correct plan to address your treatment,

There are times in our lives when our faith faces a Test not expected. Such times are when we must stay strong in our faith and give God the glory!
