Yes, the Old Law is a revealer and shows us our need for a Saviour. It exposes sin and leaves us without excuse for not seeking salvation by the new and better Way. The Old Law is a pointer-forwarder.

Important to note who this is addressed to... the Church at Ephesus and the faithful, not just any particular individual. Some may jump overboard, but the Church will certainly reach that distant shore with all that remain faithful safely onboard. Ephesians 1: 1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ...

I would say that He is pretty wise if his Father happens to be the omniscient and perfect God. His "rules and opinions" ARE divine decree. God's "opinion" is perfect truth and binding law for all.
