The benefits of the Baptism with the Holy Spirit

Things to think about: Were the disciples saved before being empowered at Jerusalem? How many times in the NT do we see the Holy Spirit baptism? Who gets this baptism and when?

    How Do You Explain Salvation?

I would start with that men were in perfect harmony with God and then fell..sin coming into the world. Roman's verse.. for all have sinned.. Then that created a seperation between God and man. This isn't what God wanted so He sent His only son to bridge the gap.. to forgive sin and give...

    Holy Spirit baptism

Well most likely Judas was not saved..but the disciples were with Jesus.. God in the flesh. They were doing His work before Pentecost. How could they be that close to Jesus and not have been converted? Yes there were others who knew of Jesus.. but the disciples were committed believers

    Holy Spirit baptism

Often it is said that the Holy Spirit baptises someone at salvation. What is the biblical basis for this? Because when Jesus says ti the disciples I will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.. 1 the disciples were already saved 2 they were as a group.. not individuals alone 3 Acts 2...

    Repentance

There is repentance at receiving eternal life and then daily continual repentance after receiving eternal life. One is not dependent on the other. John 3:16 is the likes of receiving eternal life. Faith without works is dead... in James is the likes of continual repentance.

    The Holy Spirit is Jesus.

The most common thing is to say Jesus is God, the Father is God, the Holy Spirit is God.. but that Jesus is not the Father or the Holy Spirit. The trouble I have here is that God is one being.. so then there is a point at which they are each other.

Falling back slain in the spirit?

There is Jesus saying to the disciples He will baptize them with the Holy Spirit and fire. And the baptism is something that happened at pentecost when the 1st local church was empowered by the Holy Spirit Nothing about being 'slain'

There has to be some Christians free from this sin!?!

Yeah fleeing from porn addiction.. cannot be done under your own steam. Either the person gets proud with an inflated ego for not doing porn or it just doesn't work at all. Only Jesus can break it truly. Know you are forgiven Embrace it Think on pure things 😁

Trinity, lets make sense of it

'The Father is greater than I ' .. from Jesus. This is some times used to say Jesus is lesser than the Father. That the Father is a superior being.. but.. When Jesus says this he is about to ascend to be in the same position of the Father. Jesus is described in the same terms you give to...

    What about salvation

There's two kinds of deliverance. One is throughout trials and tough times and the other is eternal deliverance. For e.g... 'he who endures to the end will be saved' .. the surrounding verses are about deliverance from trials and tribulations. Whereas with the likes of.. 'whoever believes...

    Rightly dividing the word

There are some questions you can use to understand scripture: Who is talking to whom? What is the occasion ? What is the subject? What is the time and place? You may not get everything answered but can get enough for a decent picture of what the scripture is saying

    Please give me your input!?

Yeah.. Son as in 'image' or 'reflection' of the Father. Not as in born out of the Father or not existing until being created out of the Father. Jesus is uncreated and eternal. With the Father and Holy Spirit as one being. Like ice water and steam. Different expressions of the same one material.

Where did this word "church" come from?

If I say 'the horse' is that one universal, invisible horse? You would think it would be the one down the road... or representing all horses plural. Same with 'the car' 'the bar' So 'the church'... is like this. Ecclessia.. a local and visible assembly. And a Christian church is an assembly...

    what does receive mean?

God taps on the heart of a sinner. They are convicted.. they can then either resist or respond to the conviction by belief in God, Jesus. So that's believing Jesus was crucified, died and rose again to forgive your sin. With this belief.. the Holy Spirit then indwells the persons soul...

    SALVATION

Also Romans 10.. Vs 9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead thou shalt be saved. Romans 10 also goes on like this further. This is eternal deliverance. Just compare it with John 3:16 and Acts 16 as Nehemiah6...

    Calvinism vs. Arminianism?

You'll get a lot about Calvinism v Arminianisn in other threads. I believe the bible teaches neither Calvinism nor Arminianisn. For e.g... salvation that someone does call out for out of free will.. but that it can't be undone. My impression of Calvinism is that someone does not pray or...

Must Jesus bear the cross alone?

Following Jesus isn't a have to... when you are saved the chains are gone... righteous requirements of the law gone. So because the chains are gone then we WANT to serve God. So the obedience is out of love for what Jesus has done and is doing.. not a have to

Why so much confusion about salvation?

Also there is neither of these... Saved by grace thru faith in Christ that is completely secure. Not Calvinism because anyone who believes is saved. Not arminianisn because eternal life can't be undone. According to Romans 10, John 3:16, John 10:28 among many verses. What does scripture...
