Who or what is the rock?

I think the better understanding is that even if we do great things for Jesus we may not be intimate with Him. There will be believers who will not be fully rewarded in heaven. Not everyone builds their house on the solid foundation of Christ--even Christians. Jesus doesn't deny that they were...

    Book of Ezekiel

Of course Jesus is Jewish, and of course we should bless Israel, but that doesn't provide any evidence that Jesus' coming is going to follow the Jewish calendar or that He will come after 6000 years. Do you understand how there is no correlation there?

    "Can Faith Fail?"

The warning passages in Hebrews seem better interpreted as believers who can fall away and lose rewards and be in danger of temporal punishment by God. When we say that someone can never fail in their faith the text is pretty clear that we have failures. This isn't loss of salvation, but...

    Book of Ezekiel

Why would the Jewish calendar be relevant for Christ returning? And why would 6000 years be significant? Why would the millennium be considered a sabbath day rest? Is the millennium all rest? Looking to the Jewish calendar seems far too speculative and allegorical.

2 verses that refute all forms of Premillennialism

We have imminent return like a thief. We also are told to look for the signs of Jesus' coming. The only way this works is Rapture and Second Coming.

    Calvinism vs. Arminianism?

God chooses both corporately and individually. Man is free to believe. The whole world is propitiated. Only those who believe have eternal life. The truth is in between Calvin and Arminius.

    Question about old threads?

Sorry to post this here but I'm having trouble with posting elsewhere. Since this is the last month for CC do we need to download any comments/threads we've made so as not to lose them? And if so what's the best way to do this?

Rev. 3:20 A verse about intimacy with Jesus, not "asking Jesus into your heart"

Rev. 3:20 A verse about intimacy with Jesus, not "asking Jesus into your heart" Lukewarm Laodicean saints. Neither cold nor hot, unusable. God wanted them to be cold or hot (Laodicea was known for both its cold and hot water springs) therefore this does not refer to emotion, or...

Shipwrecked in their faith, not shipwrecked in their salvation

1 Tim 1:18This command I entrust to you, Timothy, my son, in accordance with the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you fight the good fight, 19keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. 20Among these are...

Advanced search options: finding my own posts

There has to be a way I can search for all my own posts. I sometimes find that google does a better job if I give it my name and a key word than the advanced search options do. This shouldn't be. I find it confusing. What can I do better?

Unselectin certain threads in your subscription

In the Subscribed threads folder there seems to be the ability to turn notification off but then there's no Save Changes button which would enable one to unsubscribe from certain threads. Is this possible?

Jews & Christians can love Christmas

This deserves it's own thread, from BradC Apparently the White House referred to Christmas Trees as Holiday Trees for the first time this year, which prompted CBS presenter, Ben Stein, to present this piece which I would like to share with you. The following was written...

    Thanksgiving

There are so many verses about being thankful. I'll just name one. 1 Thess. 5:18in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. We should be some of the most thankful people around. Here's hoping that everyone of my Christian brothers and sisters in America has a good...

For all the wrangling about eschatology that goes on here. I'd like to suggest a book that does a good job of presenting Bible prophecy. Charts of Bible Prophecy Paperback...

    Paul the lone apostle

Many people have a lone wolf mindset when it comes to Christianity. They think they can be like Paul and be fine with just them and God. Certainly on an individual basis we each have a personal relationship to God, but this relationship is done in community. Not only did Paul write many of his...

    The absolute beauty of Salvation

There are so many things that are misunderstood about salvation. Jesus said, "He who believes has eternal life." John 6:47 Who are we to believe? Jesus, the one sent from God the Father. Having eternal life right now comes when I presently believe in Jesus, when He is the object of my faith. No...

    Ephesians --seated in the heavenlies

In Eph. we have the incredible statement that as those chosen by God we are seated in the heavenlies. We are figuratively in the spiritual realms above angelic and demonic rulers, authorities, and powers. Then in Eph. 3 Paul speaks of the wonderful mystery of the Church which God the Father uses...

    Inspiration, Illumination & Application

Holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit and wrote the inspired word of God. It wasn't a matter of their own private interpretation. When we read the Bible the Holy Spirit can illuminate Scripture in our minds and help us to understand it. The univocal meaning of the text can...

    The Simplicity of the Gospel

When considering the question of deliverance from hell it is troubling that there are so many answers. There are many theological controversies, denominational differences, sectarian viewpoints, but none strike the heart so much as the question, what is the gospel? What must I do to be...
