RoboOP, would it be a possibility to rename the Bible Study Room, "Debate Room", or 'Doctrinal Debate Room' and then use the 'Simple Bible' room for actual Bible discussions? As it stands, new christians and unbelievers go into the Bible study room to learn about God, and instead experience a confusing debate about nit-picky doctrine issues. It is enough to turn people away from the gospel!

If we had a special room for debates, then people could be redirected there when Bible discussion first begins to go south, thus avoiding things getting really out of hand ;)

...or maybe put a notice on new cc member's screen that says "my advice is to avoid the Bible Study room" :D

Last i heard they don't want to create any debate rooms or forums, as it makes it hard to moderate. Also they don't want to encourage debate, as this is not a site intended for debate. Unless something has changed since last i heard, that's what i understand.

We are well aware that discussions in the Bible Study room can get pretty heated frequently. Unfortunately when a conversation among Christians of greatly differing doctrinal backgrounds takes place that discussion is prone to get heated since many people become bent on "proving" their point. The Simple Bible room was created specifically for talking with new believers/seekers who are looking to learn about the faith.

A good warning sign is when I MUST prove a point. That tells me that it is time to shed another layer of pride.

Yes, at first I was happy to see the 'simple Bible' room, for that reason. Then, I realized that no one uses it because everyone wants to be where the people are. People are rarely in there so people go where the action is...but ithe Bible Study is often a very stressful room. A very bad welcome for new people.

(Hey maybe we should just make it that newcomers [and especially guests] can't get into the Bible study room until they've been here long enough to see good, encouraging and fun Christian behavior first? That might work. And we might get less trolls that way too!).

restricting new user access will just cause them to quit.
besides most of the Lounge chat is asinine and embarrassing and full of cliques. so that's no help either.

A room for debate is like giving satan an invitation to destroy this site.
debating is useless.Reason with a person about facts in various sections is better. And talk to his/her conscience.
One of you will be corrected.
If its me reasoning, then definitely i would definitively like to be taught more if its good.

On the other hand, debating turns people into mad dogs and promote self pride.
If i am wrong, just start one and see how much violent things are going to become.
Christians tolerate, but atheists and Christians who are bitter and in pain won't tolerate...
Its better to prevent than put people on fire who've been burned all over and over in their lives.

yes i understand what you are saying ji but what i am saying is that the bible study is already a debate room. If it had a different name, visitors would not go in expecting to learn about God and instead being put off and distracted by what is actually going on in there :) if there was another room for them to take their infighting to...sigh.... or maybe remove the bible study room altogether just to shake everyone out of their bad habits! ;)

that wouldn't work. they'd jist go to simply. bible instead. look at the forums for the bible discussion. its the same thing. taking down bible area on a christian site is a death sentence for the site.
the real issue is that people would rather debate. the site has created a solution already. problem is no one uses the solution. that should tell you the true nature of the issue. everyone complains, but no one acts.
