WAGGLES - My testimony
Healed miraculously by the power of God

I grew up in the late 1960s to early 1970s.
I prospered as part of the family business; a medium sized continental and
rye breads bakery.
When I was 22 years old my Dad died of cancer only aged 46 years.
I was devastated by this tragedy and this completely changed my
weltanschauung on life.

I moved away from believing in working hard for future success and became
involved in the alternative lifestyle or hippy culture of the time.
I began living for the day rather than working towards any future success
or rewards.

So eventually I took up marijuana, cigarettes, a lot more alcohol, a bit of heroin
on occassion and of course the hippy favourites of LSD and magic mushrooms.

My second wife was a junkie and I also started with shooting up amphetamines [speed].
I worked on and off over the years during all this, but by the time I was 40 I was
pretty wrecked. Can you believe I ended up a scrawny skinny undernourished
skeleton of a man.

I wanted a way out of my predicament and my circumstances.
A junkie wife, my drug addictions and three children that I could offer no hope to
for their futures.
So I tried suicide by walking out onto a main road and allowing a truck to hit me full on.
Not only did that not work, but a car pulled up immediately and a woman declared
"don't worry, I'm a doctor."
God was already on the job.

In late 1996 I walked out of our shopping centre onto the street mall and there it was.
A testimony from a former hippy who had been miraculously healed from her lifestyle,
heroin addiction and hepatitis C.
I knew that was what I wanted for myself, but my Roman Catholic faith did not have
room for such transformations through believing the gospel and being baptised in water
and in the Holy Spirit.

A bloke came over to talk to me, and I asked him "Is this true?"
To which he replied yes and showed me other testimonies on the board;
and went on to give his.
He opened up his KJV Bible and read out many scriptures concerning the receiving of
the Holy Spirit abnd the power and work of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life.

That day those scriptures came off the page and entered my heart.
I was troubled by these scriptures and kept thinking what if I need to do this to
really get this Holy Spirit?

I prayed a lot to Jesus to lead me to his truth. But meanwhile I would go to
Catholic Mass in the mornings and the Pentecostal service in the afternoons.
I wasn't ready to let go as yet.

After a Wednesday night meeting I was asked if I wanted to be baptised
[by full immersion] and immediately the Lord spoke to me citing scriptures.
I knew then and there that for all of my life Jesus had been waiting for this
commitment from me.
So I underwent water baptism in the name of the Father, the Son,
and the Holy Ghost; confessing my faith.

Nothing really changed dramatically for me. I remained a drug addict and a
petty criminal. I was remorseful of my circumstances and at both churches I
would cry a loy and feel repentant, but when I came home it was life as usual.

While in the prayer room on Sunday, 1st December 1996 seeking for
the infilling of the Holy Spirit, God baptised me with his Spirit and I spoke out
in tongues as Jesus said that believers would.

But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel;
After those days, says the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts,
and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother,
saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the
greatest of them, says the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember
their sin no more. Jeremiah 31:33-34

That very Sunday I was instantly healed from all my addictions and lifestyle.
There and then without any withdrawl pangs.
God went on to heal my kidneys (I had a great deal of blood in my urine which was
the colour of coffee) and my smoker's lungs in pretty short time as I prayed in my
new spiritual language every day.

Jesus healed my soul and my heart, my mind and body, he healed my
life wonderfully and miraculously.
The Holy Spirit cast out all of my demons and the Holy Spirit burns up my chaff
as a pray daily in tongues.
And now I too can lay hands on others and pray for them to be healed and set free.

It has been 21 years of walking in the Spirit being an overcomer and my life and
my faith are grounded and rooted in Christ Jesus and in the gospel once delivered
to the saints.
Oh and I'm not so scrawny these days, he has blessed me abundantly - too abundantly
perhaps, as I have put on a bit of weight.

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believes not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they
shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;
they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Well done Nick, that is what you call a coming back story. Hold me up in prayer and I'll do the same for you.

Another chapter in my testimony was psychosis of my mind.
Twenty and more years ago speed in those days was pure and of a very high grade.
The government had not as yet cracked down on supplies and in banning the
ingredients needed to make amphetamines.

When one shot up speed there was an exhilarating rush and a feeling of euphoria
- being alert and switched on. Just feeling "wonderful."
There was never food in the fridge, only cartons of long necks, and milk for the kids
to have Weet-Bix.

By the time I was 40 I was starting to lose the plot.
I was getting bad at seeing people who weren't there and making for my imaginations
and emotions to appear as visions and to hear what I was thinking about.

When you are hanging out for a fix and you have run out of credit to buy another bag,
one gets uptight.
I remember I was in the backyard and I heard a car pull up in the driveway and the car
doors slam. Then I could hear the voices of my wife's sister and brother-in-law
(who were also users).
I heard the knocking on the front door and so I decided to come into the house to be with
our visitors. "Visitors" usually meant more drugs.
But nobody was there!
I quizzed the wife about where our visitors were, and she replied,
"what are you talking about? Nobody's here."
I didn't believe her and started looking for these visitors convinced
they were hiding in another room; and worse that they were not sharing the
drugs that they had with them.

I used to see people walk pass the window and think good someone
with drugs to shoot up. But no one came to the front door.
Even my wife thought I was a bit crazy and she was no straight person.
I deteriorated over the latter years and became morose and freaky.
I went and saw a doctor who prescribed me another drug - Prozac.

In Galatians the Greek word for witchcraft is 'pharmakeia' (pharmacology)
and means drug or potion or medication.
Looking back I wonder if the real dangers with addictive drugs that are mind
altering and those psychotropic drugs we used - if it opens the doors of our
soul and mind to the enemy?
A lot of people experienced what we call bad trips. And drugs are associated
with the idea of the third eye and seeing things. Out of body stuff and so on.

Anyway the point of the story is that on the day I was baptised in the Holy Spirit
and spoke in tongues my mind was healed.
No more psychosis. No more hallucinations about visitors.
No more desire for drugs of any kind.
No more voices.

As you can see from my numerous posts here on CC I am as nutty as
the rest of you - therefore I am normal. :)

When Jesus said the truth shall set you free he meant it.
Thankyou Lord Jesus that all your promises are yeah and amen.

6 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God,
which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,
and of a sound mind.

You traveled down a long rough patch of road that's for sure. At the point you hit rock bottom was when God sent that person that eventually changed your perspective on how to live your life. I'm a graduate of the school of Hard Knocks myself. Some people learn the hard way.

My path was a little less twisted than yours but I have made my share of mistakes too. One day I found a little bible tract on the side of the road that explained about salvation and being born again. At that time I was quite young still and had never read the bible. I asked my mom to get me a bible. She was a little hesitant because we were Catholic and back then you really didn't read the bible on your own and attempt to interpret it. Well, she did get me the bible and after a few years I got another new one and gave the old one to my mom. For a Catholic she sure loves to read the Word of God and has been doing it everyday for years and years.

I've had a few marriages too, first one was a total disaster, the second wife died at 59 but was a beautiful person inside and out and very spiritual and loved God. My third and last wife is spiritual also with love in her heart to share.

I enjoyed your testimony very much and I thank God that you had the courage to write about your experiences. Not many people would be willing to do what you did. I'm sure that your story will encourage and inspire others.

God Bless You.

Thankyou to all who have liked and commented
much appreciated

My second "wife" we were only ever defacto for some 14 years
and had two boys through our union.

She was 32 years of age when I converted and became born again in
late 1996. She never embraced the gospel and eventually left me with
the boys to live with Barry a loser (more an alcoholic) who lived around
the corner.

She died of heart failure and lung cancer at the early age of 42;
refusing prayer for healing. She simply did want to die and get it all over with.

Every person who gets converted by the gospel and comes to the Lord for
salvation has a testimony to share.
The sadness for us is that we know the truth of God, salvation and judgment
and so it cuts deep when our family, friends, neighbours and workmates refuse
to believe.
I despair for my children and my grandchildren because I know that this world
is truly on the cusp of the Day Of The Lord and all the terror and turmoil that will
precede this.

our visitors.

2Timothy 1:
The other day I was testifying to a coworker while driving a van of guys back to our point of origin from the lake we'd visited. I'd been testifying to one of those guys and this new coworker kept moving closer to hear. (he sat in the front passenger seat on the way back). I was so excited about what God had been doing that I was pretty much talking a mile a minute and not worried about who was listening. As we pulled into the parking space the coworker told me I was special and the guys were fortunate to have me. I wasn't sure how to take that. Then he asked if I had ever done drugs. I looked at him quizzically and he said "You know..like Meth". I told him no (honestly), and he said "Don't ever do Meth." and he was not meaning because of how bad it is, but rather that I needed no more energy than what I already had. LOL. I'd heard that before and took it in good humor..but I'm also self-critical and started wondering if I'd come across poorly and he was just telling me gently.

Later on, he clarified that he really appreciated what I'd been saying and that if I hadn't said what I'd said and the way I'd said it, he would have left his new position and not returned.

Sometimes we may feel we're making ourselves look like a fool, But God knows what he's doing.

Love in Jesus,
Kelby
