Why are you reading into things that aren’t there? Just take the verse for what it says.

WHEN they came out, it says NOWHERE they were never of us, only they were not of us when they left.
Let me rephrase... Those who are falling away are going into the tribulation to reap God's wrath. Tell THEM they're still saved.

IF they had been of us….. so this means they were weren’t of them.
You change the meaning when you add “when they left”, because it adds another dynamic which otherwise I’m not reading!
What really convinced me “they were not of us” is when John says they have the spirit of antichrist…
truly, anyone with the spirit of antichrist is not saved and will fall away and leave.

Was Israel saved out of Egypt? Yes. Did God destroy those whom he saved, but afterwards disbelieved? Yes.
Can a person with weak faith be saved by confessing Christ and being baptized into his name? Yes. Will God destroy those who give him lip service, but don't do his will or deny him? Yes

If you’re talking about those verses, it specifically states how you can tell. I don’t read where other gospels enter in this picture? It seems you’re adding to the verses.
I wouldn’t say God saved Israel out of Egypt… but, I would say God delivered Israel out of Egypt making a way of escape from the bondage… Israel was no longer controlled by Egypt.
Yet, there is still a wilderness journey before they entered the Promised Land and only those that believed and did not doubt could enter…
