in this discussion the weak and beggarly elements need to be 'defined'.
God owns everything, so it is nothing that He has ever written - or claims.
IF you OWN everything, how can you borrow or beg anything???

is He speaking of the roman customs? in observing days-months-years?

under the LAW, what does it mean to be under the LAW - IF I don't steal or kill,
am I under the LAW, or IF I DO steal or kill, am I under the LAW???
no one is really making any CLARIFICATION of all of these definitions.

All unrighteousness is sin. How did Adam sin without the law of Moses? Because he did not follow the law of faith, anything that is not of faith is sin.

Ecclesiastes 1:9, "What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun."

Ezekiyl 22:25-26, "There is a conspiracy of her prophets in her midst, like a roaring lion ravening the prey: they have devoured souls; they have taken the treasure and precious things; they have made many widows in the midst of her. Her priests have violated My Law, and have profaned My holy things; they have put no difference between the holy and profane, they have not taught the difference between the unclean and the clean; they have shut their eyes to the keeping of My Sabbaths, and I am profaned among them."

All unrighteousness is sin. How did Adam sin without the law of Moses? Because he did not follow the law of faith, anything that is not of faith is sin.

The Law of the Creator of the heavens and earth always existed...

It keeps the planets from colliding, it keeps the demons from running totally a muck, it's what got satan banished from the throne room.... for if there was no Law then nothing satan did back then was wrong..... However we knoew there was a Law because:

Ezekiel 28:13-19, "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee the day you were created...You are the anointed cherub that covers; and I have set thee so; you ware upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire. You ware perfect in your ways from the day that you were created, till iniquity was found in you. By the multitude of your wickedness they have filled the midst of you with violence, and you have sinned: therefore I will cast you as profane out of the mountain of God and I will destroy you, O covering cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire. Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty, you have corrupted your wisdom by reason of your brightness: I will cast you to the ground, I will lay you before kings, that they may behold thee. You have defiled your sanctuaries by the multitude of your iniquities, by the iniquity of your traffic; therefore will I bring forth a fire in the midst of you, it shall devour you, and I will bring you to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold you. All they that know you among the people shall be astonished at you: You shall be a terror, and never shall you be any more."

"till iniquity was found in you"

Think about this, there is only One law, and One lawgiver.
But there are 2 minds (flesh/ Spirit)
Agreed. . .but this has nothing to do with Paul's allegory of two covenants in Gal 4:2-31,
one in bondage to the law of Sinai, and the other free in Christ, the Promise.

Now go and learn what was removed from the mind in order to see the true spiritual law.

Ephesians 2:15
Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

2 Corinthians 3:13-14[SUP]13 [/SUP]And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
Agreed. . .but these are not related to Gal 4:21-31 on the two covenants,
one in bondage to the law and the other free in Christ, and
Paul's teaching there to put the Judaizers (Gal 4:17-20) out of the church (Gal 4:30).

My understanding of Gal 4:21-31 is based on the text of Gal 4:21-31,
no on the unrelated texts of Mt 13:23; Jn 1:12-13, 3:6-7; 2Co 3:13-14; Eph 2:15;
1Pe 1:23 ; 2Pe 1:8, 2:14; 1Jn 2:15, 16; Jas 4:4.

Your application of these texts to Gal 4:21-31 is without textual basis in Gal 4:21-31.

in this discussion the weak and beggarly elements need to be 'defined'.
Good idea.

The "weak and beggarly elements" would be the regulations of the law which were "weak and useless
to make anything perfect" (Heb 7:18-19).

God owns everything, so it is nothing that He has ever written - or claims.
IF you OWN everything, how can you borrow or beg anything???
"Beggarly" means destitute, contemptible.

The regulations of the law were destitute, useless to make righteous,
because of the sinful nature of the people.

is He speaking of the roman customs? in observing days-months-years?
He is speaking of Jewish customs from Levitical law.

under the LAW, what does it mean to be under the LAW - IF I don't steal or kill,
am I under the LAW, or IF I DO steal or kill, am I under the LAW???
no one is really making any CLARIFICATION of all of these definitions.
It means to be subject to the Law and to its curse for imperfect obedience (Gal 3:10).

All unrighteousness is sin.
How did Adam sin without the law of Moses? Because he did not follow the law of faith, anything that is not of faith is sin.
Adam broke the law of God, "Thou shalt not eat of it."

Then from Adam to Moses there was no promulgated law.

The allegory is about the 2 sons (Gal 4:23-24) which is about the 2 seeds ( flesh/ Spirit)
The law of Moses was not even around in the days of Ishmael and Isaac. (so that's a fail)

Also Paul was talking to Gentiles (not under the law of Moses) but some entered in later trying to bind them with the law of Moses.
But notice what Paul says in the beginning of the chapter.

Galatians 4:1-3 "Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;[SUP]2 [/SUP]But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world:"

That bondage is the bondage of sin. Paul was speaking off of Jesus words in Notice Jesus words in John 8:34-36 “Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.[SUP]35 [/SUP]And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.[SUP]36 [/SUP]If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” Now notice what Paul say here in Romans 8:2 “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

There it is plain as day. The law of sin was around in the days of Ishmael and Isaac.

Very good indeed.

The truth is so clear.

Thank you for posting.

It is a tragedy that there is a deception that wants to equate the "abolishment of ordinances" with an "abolishment with righteous requirements" and thus do away with love out of a pure heart, faith unfeigned, and a good conscience as it pertains to justification.

Thus we end up with a massive deception of religion where faith is no longer an active principle which works in conjunction with grace producing an outcome of heart purity. Instead we have faith being mere trust in some provisional exchange which serves as a cloak for the heart still full of guile.

Woe to the carnal mind.

Again your missing the big picture of the whole allegory ( the 2 sons)= 2 seeds (flesh/ Spirit) There was no law of Sinai when Abraham had the 2 sons. (it's symbolic) the law came much later (hello!) :)

Galatians 4:22-29“For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.[SUP]23 [/SUP]But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of thefreewoman was by promise.[SUP]24 [/SUP]Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.[SUP]25 [/SUP]For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

The allegory has to with the 2 sons > flesh/ Spirit and the 2 seeds and the 2 mind sets and how it perceives the law; which would come much later.

And by the way, if you have scripture to share please post the verses not a bunch of verse numbers, because frankly I'm not going to spend the time looking up a whole bunch of verse numbers.

Nice try. Romans 8:3
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

The law is not sin, but a man who sins is weak by reason of his fleshy sin nature. ( children of the bondwoman= fleshy seed)

I am just real glad I dont need to "figure out" Arabia that just really irked me.

Excellent thread, very helpful

Adam broke the law of God, "Thou shalt not eat of it."

Then from Adam to Moses there was no promulgated law.

Yes, that would be the law of faith that was broken, and then it became sin. God commanded one thing, and then sin took occasion by the commandment and deceived Adam.

Romans 7:11For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

So was God's commandment evil, or is it sin that deceives man? Hopefully that you make think of the law of God in a new light.

Yeah, you got some?

Its doesnt say spiritual place where he was crucified, it says its spiritually CALLED

You dont see a difference in that?

Dont boggle my mind this evening LOL

Here is how the lusts of the flesh draw people into sinning unto death.

Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Jas 1:15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Salvation involves being rescued from the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2Pe 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Thus like InSpiritInTruth is saying we are to walk by the law of faith (faith works by love) according to the Spirit as opposed to walking according to the lusts of the flesh with a carnal mind.

That is why the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ sets people free from the law of sin and death. The Spirit of life in Jesus Christ is the antidote to being drawn away by the lusts of the flesh and disobeying God.

The wretch in Romans 7 is a figure of a man seeking reformation through the law but the law cannot reform a man due to thr weakness of the flesh. Reformation is only possible through the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ. That is what Paul is expressing to the reader.

It means to be subject to the Law and to its curse for imperfect obedience (Gal 3:10).

Galatians 3:13
New Living Translation
But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree."

English Standard Version
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”

King James Bible
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Romans 3:28, "For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the Law."

Romans 3:31, "Are we then doing away with the Law through the faith? By no means! Rather, we establish the Law!"

Romans 6:1-2, "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?"

Yeah, you got some?

No I don't have GPS coordinates, and sorrow for not quoting scripture word for word, sometimes I shoot from the hip. (Lord forgive me)
