My brother died from ALS. The ability to communicate would've been worth almost anything.
I understand and wouldn't blame him for using tech to help with his disability.
My heart goes out to you/ families and those who suffer from neurodegenerative conditions. So much that I take classes on potential ways to help. Why Elon's invention isn't available is a mystery.
I took a class recently from someone who covered the topic of ALS briefly from a nutritional perspective of cause, stop of progression and correction in early stages.
This thread covered issues of medical devices and chemicals. It can be a divisive topic when the companies that sell them buy political powers to force them upon the unwilling, as we saw with the Covid 19.
Rather than provide a neurological device for those with debilitating conditions like your brother, the companies hired politicians to force public into high profits.

I had forgotten Elons term for his Neurolink device, but here's a news report. Do you remember a few years ago when he said the surgeries would be done on anyone who wanted it by the next year? The FDA approved it for human use.
That was around the time when all of the politicians were paid to push drugs to be injected without patients allowed to know what the ingredients were and forced upon the military, bribes for civilians. Instead, the computer was invented as a secret weapon to defeat Germany in WW2, it helped improve productivity and fueled the rise of the US as the preeminent superpower. But behind the scenes it gave more power to the government to surveil and we saw the rise of the CIA and NSA. It also gave greater ability to the government to disseminate propaganda and indoctrinate and manipulate the masses. The evidence is Mass media growing as a global power despite the lack of profitability. The algorithms that work at evaluating other investments change with the media because of the intelligence agencies buying influence. Since WW2 we went from radio to TV to the internet showing the ability of digital surveillance and influence of propaganda growing exponentially. Then we had social media. That was an explosion of data for the government. During the cold war we can expect they had large files on many people we would least expect, but now with social media and the very cheap cost of memory they were collecting fat files on every single person in the country, and even globally. At the same time we saw global terrorism increase which justified pumping more money into the budgets for global surveillance. This caused us to enter the age of "Big Data" where algorithms crunched huge numbers and discovered patterns no one would suspect. Amazon.com, Walmart and Google pioneered these in the corporate sector. But this paved the way for machine learning as google tried to have the computer learn to translate from one language to another. This was the dawning of the age of AI and by 2001 the potential was clear. The US needed to pump a lot more money into the development of this technology by remotely controlling drones and other forms of military equipment. At this moment in time 911 took place justifying a blank check for the US military to do just that. The military is probably 20 years ahead of the private sector so the AI we saw in 2021 was probably equivalent to what they had in 2001. And at the time of the mortgage meltdown their AI was probably on par with what we have right now in the private sector in 2026.
I say all this because the AI bubble with the trillions going to Data Centers is not simply a bubble similar to tulips or the dot.com. There has been a steady move towards the US government becoming much more powerful with this technology, both militarily and in its ability to surveil hundreds of millions of people. We would be foolish to think they will give up their position of power.
The loss of trust in the US dollar as a reserve currency would have been a simple thing for the Governments AI to track, predict, and strategize over. Likewise the Data center bubble would have been an easy thing for it to predict and strategize over. The trillions of dollars going to these Data centers are so great that a collapse is guaranteed to become a contagion. Since the US was unable to prevent the rest of the world from getting their own AI and data centers the next best strategy is the Indy 500 strategy, drive the race so fast and furious that the other countries go bust.
