A Born Again Person Can Not Become Dead OSAS is Biblical

[Radius]

"Heavenly Father I pray for this person, who doubts his salvation. Show him your love, encourage him to know that he cannot lose his salvation. In Jesus name I pray, Amen."

"for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”" Hebrews 13:5b

We are saved by faith, not by works. Therefore press on towards the mark of the high calling of Jesus Christ.

"I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." Phil. 3:14

Finally, don't look back, and don't worry about those who do not understand salvation. Run with endurance! You can do it!

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,[SUP]2 [/SUP]looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." Hebrews 12:1-2

Amen Angela. Nice prayer. There are many on CC deceiving the elect or at the very least planting seeds of doubt. They almost got me a few times, too I must ashamedly admit. I don't think they know they are doing but we should be praying for them, also. Works based salvation is a losing battle.

Nothing in my hands I bring, only to the cross I cling.

Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
(Rom 5:9-10)

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
(Joh 10:28-29)

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
(1Jn 5:13)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
(Joh 5:24)

Thank you for these verses also, Crossnote. Asper the underlined verse I don't see anything about works there...or losing your salvation. If it were possible don't you think it would have definitely been mentioned by Jesus as he said these things?

[newbirth]

Preaching that people can loose their salvation brings unnecessary fear and worry into genuine believers lives as it is not true. That is work of Satan, cripple the Christians, the only people who do not care are the spiritually dead religious people.

Salvation is in Christ ...it is that simple...
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

And satan uses the same deception ...you will not surly die (OSAS)....and people still fall for it...

Did Satan tell Eve that she wouldn't die if she believed in Christ? No, he told Eve that she wouldn't die if she ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (in direct opposition to what God said), which had been forbidden by God. Nothing more, nothing less.

Luke 6:46-49 (KJV) [SUP]46[/SUP]And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? (easy believism) [SUP]47 [/SUP]Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them,(Lordship) I will shew you to whom he is like: [SUP]48 [/SUP]He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. [SUP]49 [/SUP]But he that heareth, and doeth not,(easy believism) is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

Works never bring salvation, they are evidence, fruits of it. If the evidence isn't there, the person's claim is worthless.

[SUP]46 [/SUP]And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

[Jason0047]

OSAS sure is great. You can run the race with God and then slip on the mask of hypocrisy and serve sin and still be rewarded by God with Him allowing you into Heaven. However, Ezekiel talks about if you do unrighteousness, all your righteousness will be forgotten. Also, the Bible says, well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord. It's not... well done my somtimes evil and unfaithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord. For Jesus says you cannot serve two masters. For you will hate the one and love the other.

[Deadtosin]

Dwell in the Light or dwell in the dark? We decide. The real question is- where do you feel the safest? and where do you think God is more likely to use you? God loves all of us, and He chastises those He loves. Clearly He wants us to continually choose Him. After all this is a two sided relationship right? We are in a battle of principalities and we have very real enemies. One of which is likened to a lion stalking the earth trying to devour us. We all fall short of the glory of God. Indeed. However, united with Christ He is both our Savior and Deliverer. He is the Light and darkness flees from His presence. The day's come and go that I get distracted letting my guard down and those are the days I choose selfishly as one of the world. God convicts me, through the bible, in my heart and through my brothers and sisters in Christ. God's message is clear. Turn from the wickedness and rest in the Light. The worldly part of me tries to convince myself that somehow my sin is different than the rest of the worlds because I have Jesus. The reality is my sin will destroy me just the same. Indeed God is long suffering and Jesus is my deliverer- but if I continue believing it is okay for me to live as one of the world I will only find myself destroyed. Neither my body nor my soul can take it. For the lust of the flesh is at enmity with God. I need Jesus, not most of the time but all of the time. I actually need Him like that. I need God here now, not just when it's convenient for me. Not put God away until I have finished with my fleshly desires. I want Him now and always. Maybe the harm that comes to us through sin isn't so much a punishment as it is simply a consequence.

Here is certainty. We are not sinning while dwelling in God's Holy Light.
We first must turn from Gods path to seek our own pleasure. In those moments we are hurting ourselves. I am sick and tired of walking away from God. At some point we as Christians need to grow up and set down the bottle.

[nowyouseem033]

Okay.
There is more scriptural support that claim that salvation cannot be lost and that God eternally secures those that are saved and his.

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a new creature, the old has gone the new has come".
(If salvation can be lost, then the new creature that you are could be reversed and cancelled)

1 Peter 1:18-19 "redeemed"
The word redeemed refers to a purchase being made, a price being paid. For a Christian to lose salvation, God himself would have to revoke his purchase that he paid for with the precious blood of Christ.

Romans 5:1 "justify"
To justify means to declare righteous. All those who receive Jesus Christ as Saviour are declared righteous by God. For a Christian to lose salvation, God would have to go back on HIS WORD and undeclare what he had previously declared. (YEAH RIGHT)

John 3:16
Eternal life is a promise of eternity forever in heaven with God. God promises believe and you will have eternal life. For a Christian to lose salvation, eternal life would have to be taken away. If a Christian is promised to live forever how then can God break his promise by taking away eternal life.

So to sum it up for you my brother:

A Christian cannot be unnewly created, Redemption cannot be undone, eternal life cannot be lost and still be considered eternal, and salvation cannot be reversed.

Jesus said "It is finished" meaning he paid for your past sins present sins and future sins.
Complete meaning final.
To say salvation can be lost is to say that Christ only died for your past sins and present sins but not your future sins.
Which means Christ should of said "It is Half finished" LOL

"What began in the spirit cannot be COMPLETED by FLESH"

Romans 8:38-39
John 10:28-29
Jude 24-25

Salvation is sealed.
I will say that you can lose sanctification to some degree but never salvation.

some philosophical points:

If it is God who saves you, then it is God who keeps you.
If it is on you to maintain your salvation then you are dependant on yourself to keep your salvation. (wheres the faith in that)

Salvation is of the Lord.

The question isn't "Can I lose my Salvation" because this statement presumes that its by your ability that gets you saved.
HOW SO YOU ASK???? simple... "Can I" refers to your ability.. hint hint works

The question should be this. "Can GOD lose his child"
Simple answer NO!!

The story of the sheep and the shepherd is great comfort to us all.
"and if one strays will not the shepherd leave the 99 and go after the 1, so that he loses NONE"
Notice a sheep is straying but it is GOD who goes after that sheep not you....
and perhaps the best and most encouraging thing about ONCE saved always saved and this story about the sheep is that

You may lose a relationship with him (temporary), but he will never lose a relationship with you (eternally secured)

[fredjames]

Beware those who hope to lead the seeker, even the faithful, into believing they are seeking temporary salvation, while the faithful in Christ were given temporary life by Jesus Christ and his death on the cross. They are everywhere. And they are damned unless they come to repentance.

Hold the false teachers, the atheist trolls, the disciples of devils, in your prayers. Because while they are still alive they can still be reached. May God have mercy so that that come to pass. Before it is too late.

Eternal life is a free gift received by grace through faith in Christ without works. Everlasting life by definition is life that lasts forever. A born again believer can never die(John 5:24, John 11:25-26). A person who believes they can lose their salvation is not saved as proven from Scripture in the video by Pastor Steven L Anderson. Don't trust works salvation heretics like Dan Corner, Paul Washer, Ray Comfort, David Cloud, Tim Conway etc who all teach you can lose your salvation.

There's nothing a saved person can do to go to hell. I couldn't go there if I wanted to. Not because I'm good but because I'm a sinner worthy of eternal damnation. BUT the Lord Jesus Christ(God in flesh) died for our sins, so that:

John 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

He was buried and three days later rose again for our justification. My eternal destiny is settled because I trusted in Him for the free gift of eternal life and called upon His name by faith. You say ''But you don't deserve to go to Heaven!''. I say: - ''And that's the point!''.

May God Bless and Keep The Faithful in Christ. Amen.

Sadly, you are one of the near sighted believers, always enjoying milk remaining as babes in CHRIST and confessing baby things to others who have grown towards meat. As it is also written to those who judge not rightly and fairly regarding the new Covenant, who 'only condemn themselves of doing the very same things that others do';

"Ever learning but never come into the knowledge of the truth."

In the Old or New Covenant alike, GOD always starts of by proclaiming HIS promise to HIS people. And then at the same time HE continues on with HIS conditions, example;

1. Through Moses:

"I AM the LORD thy GOD who healeth thee, 'if' you obey/keep/abide My commandments, rules, instructions, ............................"

2. Through JESUS and saying to those who believe in HIM and HIS words, in order to inherit Eternal life:

'JESUS said to the Jews who believe in HIM; "If you abide in My Words, you are My disciples and you will know the truth and the truth shall set you free. ........................................................ and when the son sets you free, you are indeed free."

"Those who hear these teachings of mine and do/practice them - are wise builders who can stand beatings that comes their way"

"Those who hear these teachings of mine and not do/practice them - are foolish builders who fall , with a great fall from the beatings that comes their way"

"............................................................... The road that leads to the Kingdom is narrow, and it is very difficult to follow and only a few will make it."

Are you among many OSAS group in deception neglecting these Scripture that speaks of 'conditions' of rules and regulations that must be applied/practiced/done, in order to hold on to the gift of GOD and find their way to GOD's place of rest' given to those who believe in JESUS?

Or do you believe in ignoring these Scripture and moving on in your own understanding faith and believe and confessing, you and others with you can hold on to the gift of GOD's Eternal life?

If yes, sorry to say to you and many who are with you that, all of you 'are near sighted' and cannot see far. If in ignorance to what the LORD have revealed from Scripture again today and one still persist forward, then you will be surprised by or even over look a ditch that awaits for the ones who are 'blind leading another blind'.

The New Covenant is already established and written in the HOLY BIBLE and given to Christian to witness for themselves words of JESUS, of spirit and life and to 'abide/keep/obey/comply with/conform to' in all of them and 'bear much fruits' and 'their fruits must also abide'.

Scripture faith living as tutored in whole, as sound doctrine Spiritual knowledge, are not to be taken literally, like a Monopoly game, where one ia allowed to by-pass their journey, from the conditions imposed by an establishment, upon anyone who passes-by and arrive on any of them.

[Jason0047]

When the son was dead, was lost - was he still his Father's son? That's all I am asking. . . .

Family members can die. Note that in verse 24 that the son was dead and is alive "AGAIN" (implying he was alive to begin with!) Verse 32 also echoes this thought. Remember Ephesians 2:1 refers to the time when we were "dead in trespasses and sins" and Jude 1:12 speaks of those "twice dead".

Luke 15:11-32 - "And he said, A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.

Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing. And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant. And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf. And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found."

[Jason0047]

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9 God must look at that 'spiritual adoption through faith' as birth. born - gennao - I am only going to use one of the definitions for there are a few but the one I believe fits is: of God making his sons through faith in Christ's works and relates to God making Christ his Son - so that "spiritual adoption through faith" is pretty solid and considered birth. That word "seed" here is sperma - 1) from which a plant germinates, seeds sown, 2) the semen virile - the product of this semen, seed, children, offspring - C. whatever posses vital force of life giving power 1) of divine energy of the Holy Spirit operating within the soul by which we are regenerated. And the word remaineth? is: to remain, abide; sojourn, tarry 2. not to depart, a. to continue to be present b. to be held, to be kept continually B. in reference to time: 1. to continue to be, not to perish, to last, endure Being born again, not of corruptible (perishing) seed but of incorruptible (uncorrupted, not liable to corruption or decay, imperishable) seed - Remember in Genesis 1 how the seed is in the plant itself and the seed produces after its kind? That "incorruptible seed" born within us is after its own kind - i.e. Spirit. It is born of the Spirit and it is Spirit - it is incorruptible. I would say that is pretty stable standing within the family of God.

If I am understanding you correctly, I think this is a lot of fancy talk that is trying to say that you can't sin because you are in Christ. However, if you were to look at the same epistle, you would realize that this is not the case, though. 1 John 3:9 is in reference to how a believer will not abide in unrepentant sin or sin habitually against God. It's not talking about how their sin is not imputed to them. No, no. 1 John 1:8 refutes that type of thinking. It says if we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:6-7 makes it even more clear. It says if we walk in the Light as He is in the Light, then the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. But if we walk in darkness, we lie and do not the truth. This all leads to 1 John 2:1 and 1 John 1:9. It says if the brethren sins, they have an advocate that they can go to named Jesus whereby if they confess their sins, he is faithful and just to forgive them their sins and to cleanse them of all unrighteousness. Also, 1 John 1:6-7 parallels 1 John 2:3-4.

[Jason0047]

It seems to me that 1 John 5:4 is saying that those who are born of God overcome the world and the victory that overcomes the world is our faith.

It's not saying that being born again is a guarantee of not falling away. The Parable of the Sower is the person who received God's Word in their heart. Meaning they were born again by the Word of God and the Spirit. Those who had no root fell away due to persecution and or the cares of this life. They were once regenerated because the seed was not taken away by the wicked one and had a chance to grow in their heart.

BUT WE ARE NOT OF THEM WHO DRAW BACK UNTO PERDITION, BUT OF THEM THAT BELIEVE TO THE SAVING OF THE SOUL.

You can't draw back from something you never had. I can't draw back from the faith if I never had faith. I can't draw back from leaving Houston airport unless I am in Houston airport. The writers of Hebrews is not laying down a promise for all believers, but he has a confidence in himself and the body of believers he was writing to.

They were teaching that the resurrection is past already and overthrowing the faith - in other words introducing things that caused doubt instead of trust, i.e. faith.

OSAS proponents don't believe you can overthrow the faith. They believe that once you are saved you are always saved. Faith cannot be overthrown. But that is not what the Bible says about faith, though. It talks about the overthrowing of faith.

wax wanton against Christ,

You've got to be kidding. This is not a noun or a description of a group of unbelievers. It is a verb and how they turned from Christ and cast off their first faith. You can't cast off something unless you had it. You can't give (cast) a ball away unless you have the ball. So underlining the word "against" doesn't change the context. You are seeing something that is not there.

[Jason0047]

Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

There is no guarantee that the spirit will be saved if they sin and are delivered unto Satan. It says the spirit MAY be saved.

1 Corinthians 5:5
"To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus."

In fact, it is why Paul says this about a believer in the church who is fornicating in a way that is hurting the church. They are being proud about this sin, too (Which is wrong).

1 Corinthians 5:13
"Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person."

But if you believe in OSAS or go to an OSAS church, you are not a wicked person and you should not be kicked out of the church for your sin. However, Paul would disagree with that type of evil thinking, though.

WOW
okay Im a OSAS proponent and we believe in excommunication of wilful and unrepentant sin.
Either that person wont repent because he cant repent in which then he would not be saved, or that person has made a choice to live in continual and unrepentant sin in which if he is Gods will find it very hard to live in that sin and will inevitably come back to Christ because of the power of Gods grace.

Dude there are many scriptures that guarantee or a better word seal your salvation.
