In life we all make mistakes or have done something wrong that we new was wrong...sometimes we take life for granted...NOBODY is perfect, with that being said I'm asking for someone to say a prayer for Stephen Rice. Stephen has court on March 14, 2016 and he has to pay $1400 for his tickets or he might have to go to jail. I know that he doesn't have the full amount I'm going to help with whatever I can give...I know $1400 doesn't sound like a lot of money but can be a lot if you don't have it...I'm asking for prayers because I feel the court system doesn't care if you have to survive...Stephen has a low income job, he has to pay rent, has to pay for public transportation to get to work and he has to eat...sometimes there isn't any extra money to put aside.....how does going to jail help the situation other then teaching him a lesson???? The $1400 doesn't get paid any quicker, he's going to lose his job and possibly the room that he rents out....he's not a bad person he just made a bad choice.....I would really appreciate if someone would take the time to say a small prayer for Stephen....I'm praying for him but I think more prayers are better than one

O Lord, my God and my Haven in my distress! My Shield and my Shelter in my woes! My Asylum and Refuge in time of need and in my loneliness my Companion! In my anguish my Solace, and in my solitude a loving Friend! The Remover of the pangs of my sorrows and the Pardoner of my sins!

This may be a bit long winded but bare with me. If you or I knew the president personally, as a close friend or a family member who we loved and we knew he loved us dearly and would do anything for us, would he not somehow look into something we bought to him because it caused us concern?
Now we know Christ, Jesus Christ, the son of the living God, our 'Father' our 'Daddy'. He is more powerful than the president, He is more caring than any man, no matter what position of power he may hold. Anything we bring to Him is not overlooked, He takes every one of His child's requests to heart personally.
You have not said whether Stephen Rice knows the Lord, so;
Abba, Father, God of my heart, Lord of all that is, I bring to you a friend of Learning gemini29, Stephen Rice. He is in dire need Lord, so much so that Learning gemini29 has requested a special prayer for him. Father you know all about Stephen already, I am glad he has a friend to bring him to your notice and I stand with them in bringing Stephens need before your thrown of grace. Father we know the adversary would take his life, and all that he is to destroy it, so in Jesus name we stand against him to your glory and Stephen's salvation through your Son.
Bring peace on Stephen and no matter what happens Lord, hold him in the palm of your hand and bless him to know you fully, in Jesus Holy name. Amen.

Lord we pray for stephen , let him be out of this problem. Yes Lord bless stephen. In Jesus name, Amen!

$1400 is a lot of money. I certainly couldn't afford it. BUT "tickets?" As in more than one? And what else gets you tickets but using a car?

I solve the "I can't afford $1400" by avoiding tickets. Sure, I'm not perfect. I didn't get that the "Don't park - loading zone" sign was for the spot I parked my car. I thought it was the spot in front of the store, where loading and unloading makes more sense to avoid cars parking in that spot. So I grit my teeth and paid the $54, thinking of all sorts of reasons it was "unjust."

It really isn't. I just didn't read a sign right.

I'm certainly not waiting around to avoid paying tickets in hopes they never catch up to me. I'm not that lucky and the court system is making money for the city this way, so they're not going to ignore a revenue source.

Sorry. I've got no empathy for Stephen. If he can't afford the car, he should always go public transportation. He could sell the car to pay some of those tickets. If he has a car that means he should be paying car insurance. If he's paying car insurance he DOES have enough to afford the tickets in a timely manner. You're being snowed.

Lord Jesus, I lift up Stephen to you in prayer, that you Lord would bring provisions. Whatever debt Stephen is facing regarding the courts, Lord you would provide & make a way where there seems to be no way out of this. Lord, many times in our journey through life, we find ourselves in situations that can be overwhelming, as in financial obligations, relationships, health, our future etc.. but thankyou Lord, that in every wrong turn we take through life, there are always priceless lessons that You desire we learn from our trials through life. Every obstacle through life end up being a "stepping stone" for growth & maturity, as long as we allow the Lord to bring correction & guidance into the right direction. The Lord doesn't always bail us out so easily in these "life lessons" sometimes the Lord will walk us down a path that seems long & windy, so He can mature us & impart the Wisdom we need to move through life Victoriously. Lord, help Stephen keep his eyes on You at all times & You will bring him the victory in this area of his life.

I have said a prayer for Stephen. Please add my prayer to yours. I will pray for leniency of the court and for the court to allow the fine to be paid over a period of time that would not adversely impact him. And yes, to avoid jail which would serve no purpose but would cost him his job and his room that he rents. I know that I have made mistakes in my life and I'm certainly nowhere near being perfect. God bless you for helping out within your financial means and caring enough for him to pray and ask for others to do the same.

I understand your questioning of the system - take someone who's broke and can't pay his fine, and lock him up get him fired ... and still expect him to pay up. That's the insanity of this world. Don't look for sense where you know you're not going to find any.

But there's also the issue of, if you can't do the time then don't do the crime. What does Stephen owe the $1400 for? Outside the economic question, does he belong in jail for what he did?

Praying for all of this... and you.

Lynn, you make me laugh, in a good way. Your a believer in tough love, I think, judging by your posts. Nothing wrong with that, but not for every situation? But God has His people everywhere administering according to His plan and purpose, so who am I to say?
Anyway; Father God, you know Stephens circumstances. You know his heart Lord. Your word implies better to err on the side of love, so our King, I ask that you imbue the judge with mercy and love for Stephen. May he or she judge fairly in this O Lord. May Stephen not repeat the errors of, I don't know what it was God, but be it oversight, or disregard, or ignorance, may he not go down that path again. Paul said that for those who have the fruits of the spirit there is no law. I pray God that Stephen would be a man who posses' those things: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self control.
