I was found in a cardboard box in front of a theater when I was 3 days old, then taken to the police, an orphanage, a foster home, ad finally to my wonderful parents when I was six months old, so it's a question I will have spinning in my head all my life: "Why, God? Why would you pick me out of millions of others out there... to put into such a wonderful family? Goodness knows you could have chosen someone a LOT less difficult."
My adoptive parents are Caucasian... To this day, people stare at us when we're together but they have never treated me any less because I was adopted. I've known some parents who will say, "This is my adopted child," but with my parents, it's always been, "This our child, whom we chose to adopt." They are the most perfect parents for me as an individual that anyone could have chosen.
I do feel sad that it looks like I will never have biological children of my own (which means I'll never have a biological relative, ever)--I have been back to my orphanage as an adult and it leaves you with an utter sense of wonder and helplessness all at the same time. I had thought about adopting at one time but now feel God is calling me to help others with their own families instead (I was part of a team that raised funds for friends of mine to adopt--after seeing them adopt from the same country I was born in, I kind of felt like my "circle of life" had been completed, in a way...)
