Revelation 22:18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
  • 1845 Prediction: She reportedly saw that Christ would return in June 1845, but when the date passed, she claimed the vision was misunderstood—later saying it would be September 1845, which also failed.
This is false because the movement was headed not by EGW but John Miller a Baptist minister. At the time EGW was a Methodist and 17 years old. She was studying the prophecy of the 2300 days in Daniel with Miller along with an estimated 50-100K people from many churches and denominations. The SDA church did not even form until 1863 some 20 years later

  • 1851 Prediction: She stated the time was short and Christ would return soon, referencing the fall of 1851 as a possible timeframe. This also did not occur.
Another false accusation. This is backward. In June 1851 she explicitly warned against tying the message to time and said people were wrong to make their calculations bend to “this next fall.” The primary source says: “the message must never be hung on time,” and “some were making everything bend to the time of this next fall … I saw that this was wrong.” So the documentary evidence shows her rebuking an autumn 1851 expectation, not predicting it.

  • Cholera Epidemic (1849): She predicted widespread death from pestilence, saying “the dead and dying will be all around us,” but the epidemic subsided, and peace followed—leading to the removal of this passage in later editions.
In Present Truth (September 1, 1849), she wrote: “What we have seen and heard of the pestilence is but the beginning … Soon the dead and dying will be all around us.” But the passage continues into broad end-time judgment language: “Then the slain of the Lord will be from one end of the earth to the other.” That makes it read more like an apocalyptic warning than a dated prediction that the then-current cholera wave would keep escalating in the immediate short term.
  • Predicting England would declare war on the U.S., which never happened.
This charge is overstated. The statement exists, but the wording is heavily conditional: England was “studying whether” to go to war, “if she should commence war abroad,” and “if England thinks it will pay.” The White Estate argument that the final “when England does declare war” functions in context like “if England does” is interpretive, but the bigger point is still true: this was not phrased as a clean unconditional prediction that England definitely would attack
  • Claiming slavery would be preserved by the Civil War—contradicted by history.
That is misleadingly phrased. Ellen White absolutely denounced slavery, and one cited line says some political leaders were “Southern sympathizers” who “would preserve slavery as it is.” That reads as a judgment about their intentions and politics, not a prophecy that the Civil War would end with slavery preserved. Separately, in 1895 she did make a different statement: “Slavery will again be revived in the Southern States; for the spirit of slavery still lives.” That later statement is real and is often defended by Adventists as referring to coercive oppression or labor conditions in the South, but it is not the same claim as “the Civil War will preserve slavery.”
  • Describing life on Jupiter and amalgamation of humans and beasts, which conflict with modern science and biblical teaching.
There is no published Ellen White statement I found where she herself names Jupiter or Saturn as inhabited worlds.

That doesn’t mean that our understanding of it shouldn’t.

You said “true prophets”, not “OT prophets”. Care to rephrase?
You stated that, not me. (?) I never said “true prophet”.

Isn’t this just another cult? There were no true prophets after John the Baptist.

“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭13‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
You did use the terms "no true prophets" though.

But isn't the cited verse speaking toward the specific divisions of the Bible, the Law (of Moses), the Prophets, and the Writings (Psalms) (Luke 24:24)

"Let no man judge you..........." SDA also claims that the Beast of Revelation will enforce Sunday worship, as if that were inherently evil. E.G. White claims "Sunday-keepers will "receive the full wrath of God and die"". Utter heresy, of course, based on twisted interpretations of scripture that cannot be justified.

The only way White's visions and prophecies are to be understood, is from the point of view that she was under demonic influence as many are today. I am sure you know that.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, I Tim.4:1

This should be fun. Don’t get me wrong I love American made tools, trucks, and many other products, but American made religions I’ll pass.

Don’t forget to add in the “7 year shut door” period when that claimed Jesus had closed the door to sinners.

Made in America= Latter Day Saint Movement (Joseph Smith), Seventh-day Adventists (Ellen G. White), Christian Science (Mary Baker Eddy), Jehovah’s Witnesses (Charles Taze Russell), Spiritualism (The Fox Sisters), and the Shakers (Mother Ann Lee).

That’s a lot of prophets in a 60 year period all claiming to have the truth the rest of the world had been missing for 1800 years. They took “freedom of religion” to the max.

No worries. The distortion and twisting of scripture is well documented and I did come across the 7 yr shut door period as you mention above.

Going to get into the false and failed prophecies as well as the origin of the movement after the dismal failure of Miller's prophecy regarding the return of Jesus circa 10.22.1844.

American made religions. And now the age of 'internet' prophets. If I could choose but one spiritual gift, it would be discernment because Christianity in this country (not alone) is like a minefield.

Many called Jesus a demon and they ended up crucifying Him- people have been so wrong before and will be wrong again. Was it not the "professed people of God" who killed His prophets and apostles. God will be all of our Judges and there is nothing any of us can hide from Him Ecc12:13-14

Some follow a demonic misrepresentation of the Jesus while telling everyone they alone have the truth. Capeesh?

Get thee out of the Old and into the New Covenant that this Jesus you pretend to hold in such high regard has actually enacted, praise His worthy land holy name.

The point is you do not know EGW, most accusations are blatantly false or out of context. Most her accusers have not read one of her books. God alone knows who is in Him and not. She put light back on God's commandments, the ones God said not a jot or tittle shall pass, the one God said Remember, that man teaches the opposite so if you want to talk about false there you go. The Sabbath puts the light back on God our Creator Exo20:11, the only God we are to worship Rev14:7 and serve Isa56:6 why the devil attacks anyone who tries to get people back to God's Truth, because he is fighting for our souls and doesn't fight fair. He is a liar and works through men to do his deeds. Why whoever we obey is who we serve Rom6:16 God invited everyone to serve Isa56:6 hence the battle of where our loyalty is with.

The point is people have been so wrong before about accusing others of being demons- the one doing the accusing is usually the ones doing.

Its in God's hands, I know I can prove everyone of my beliefs from Scriptures alone.

Oh yes please do sing the praises of Miller. He is the direct and culpable author of all the cults that have sprung up from his failed prophecy of Jesus return. Have you no recollection of the 10.22.1844 farce? I bet you do. ;) I don't think you are going to get that familiar feeling of support for your SDA cult that you get in another thread, in this one. This is not about SDA doctrine. So, if you have not actually read the op, you should do so. I am sure your eyes lit up when you saw the letters SDA but like I said, read the op for the actual purpose of this thread and thank you very much.

Keep talking. We are just getting started and most of us, are up to here with the profession of SDA doctrine being presented as the truth in at least one other thread.

No actually, your claims of White's innocence is overstated. Too bad you do not choose to defend the actual NT as you do her.
Shame really.

Shall we defend a cultist or the word of God?

The point is you do not know what EGW, most accusations are blantley false. Most her accuse her have not read one book. God alone knows who is in Him and not.
Let’s take that sentence and see if you agree with it another way.

1: The point is you do not know what Joseph Smith, most accusations are blantley false.

2: The point is you do not know what Jim Jones, most accusations are blantley false.

3: The point is you do not know what David Koresh, most accusations are blantley false.

Its in God's hands, I know I can prove everyone of my beliefs from Scriptures alone.

Don't get comfortable because White is not a friend of Jesus and never was. That woman fell prey to 'teaching spirits' whispering in her ears and presenting her with false visions and words. I've seen this happen to a couple of people I have known in the past. They start off one way, but become puffed up and start 'hearing' from demons and think it is the Holy Spirit. Actually, more than just a couple. The internet is chock full of these false prophets and they are puffed up, liars and deceivers and they will not stand before God guiltless and neither will White or those who promote her teachings.

Including Jesus? Was He wrong when he pronounced people as full of the devil? This is still going on and some of it in this forum such as people saying you are going to hell if you do not observe he Sabbath.

Anyway, nice distraction but I fully expected you to pop up here.

This is sick- EGW pointed everyone back to God. Believe as you wish- God will sort this out in His time. I would be careful what we accuse others of though. God does not take lightly a lying tongue or a false witness. He alone is the one who knows. I have no fear for EGW and anyone who has read her books would know that, not from the hate because people think if they discredit her it discredits God's Sabbath, but that is a false hope. I expected these kinds of attacks, the Bible warned us about it.

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman (God's true church)and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

This is the true false prophet according to God and to me that's what matters.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

The Ten Commandments is the Testimony of God, written by God spoken by God Exo31:18 claiming we can forget the one commandment God said to Remember Exo20:8-11 that comes with the power God's Blessing and Sanctification is going away from His law and Testimony. Those are the false prophets.

God will be the one to sort this out, I will leave the hate to you guys, I have better things to do with my time.

Ellen White said an angel appeared to her to encourage her to present her visions etc. It is of no little significance, that all of the false so called 'ministries' today have been visited by what they call an angel. YET we are warned in scripture that if anyone at all, including spiritual beings, present a gospel other than the one in scripture, they are to be rejected!

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse!
Gal. 1:8

This apparition made itself known to White in the month of Dec. 1844. (Ellen G. White: The Early Years: 1827-1862, vol. 1, p. 63)

At this point, White referred to herself as a 'messenger of God'. Consult (Life Sketches of Ellen G. White, p. 71) for further info on her portraying herself in the presence of angels...plural...and the physical sensations often experienced by people who are being seduced by lying teaching spirits. Consult 'War on the Saints', by Jesse Pen Lewis, a history of satanic deception in Christianity and the conflict between good and evil.

Thank you, my bad. Please read the rest of what I said…differentiating between OT and NT. :)
Thank you. I did read it. I am still wondering whether you think Agabus was a true prophet.

Your answer should inform your position on the possibility of true prophets operating today.

Kinda ironic that out of the thousands of false prophets since Jesus, you believe Ellen is the only one who got it right. Even though her visions and contradictions dont align with the simple words of the King, you still claim she is a true prophet. For years she taught the Shut Door doctrine, claiming in a vision that the door of mercy was closed to the world after 1844, only to have to un-prophesy it later when it didn't happen. Would that not make her an unprophet? As much as you defend her, it sounds like you are following her over Jesus.

For those who may not be aware, sabbath has ignored and skipped over any and all scripture that disagrees with the SDA doctrine they present. I intend to just continue presenting the grave errors of that particular man made religion so I choose to continue without the need to defend the absurd declarations and scripture cherry picking and taken out of context verses this person uses to harrass others with an apparent need to take over any thread that dares to expose the actual truth of SDA teaching. Doesn't bother me if anyone else responds to the continued posts (and there will be many if past behavior is any indication) but you will be sadly wasting your time if you hope to be given the respect they demand from the rest of us.

So, cheers, I am just going to continue with the actual op and not the desire of this person to have a long and heated debate on the 'merits' of a cult. We have close to 800 pages in another thread in which sabbath is well represented if anyone is curious as to why I choose to not respond further to that person :)
