Exactly what is your answer to the problems you have mentioned in this thread as well as in your replies, and exactly what are you going to do about these problems facing you?

All I want to say is that God is not my spouse. I may not be poor or hungry or sick, but I deal with daily loneliness and don't talk very much about it. I don't pray a lot about it either because it makes me feel like I'm not satisfied with God. I'm tired of having to feel and think and say and do all the right things. But apparently I have no problems because, like I said, I'm not poor, hungry, or sick.

And to those making assumptions, I do my best to help those less fortunate than me. I volunteer and give what I have. My last job was doing housekeeping at a hospital, seven hours a day five days a week. Even if I have a bad day, I try to make someone else's. I do all of this because I know that's what Christians do. Support each other. I may not do everything right all the time, but I know my beliefs. We're not going to get anywhere by comparing sufferings, because everyone has to go through it at some point in their life.

I just want to remind myself and other singles and marrieds that God is not meant to replace our legitimate longings. He can't be physically with you to help you through life when it really matters. I have read plenty of stories of people like myself who feel guilty over their relationship with God because they've been falsely told that he can satisfy all their intimacy wants, but he really can't. Any reasonable person would see that.

I'm just tired of being told to passionately want something I just don't want.

If you want a husband, get married.

To those who are married, and tell us we should let God be our "spouse," why don't you follow your own advice and divorce yours?

I don't agree that they should divorce for that reason, but I DO agree they shouldn't tell single people to let God be their spouse. To do so is condescending. And that goes for pastors telling their single sheep this too. It is hurtful and does not bring us together as a flock.

It is SO amazing the hurtful things Christians tell one another, in the name of Christ.
