Today I drove around aimlessly - I was feeling very rejected and lonely. Why this emptiness if I'm born again? Why lonliness if I'm born again?

Dear Midge, how terribly sad you are feeling this way....you are right, it is not the way it should be at all!! so I wonder....What is going wrong for you. If you are saved, things are not promised to be immediately perfect in our lives, but you are born again. New life....if you are truly born again your life will be different. You ought to feel hope as you will have the Holy Spirit in you. Things may not change over night....but there should be movement. I wonder...are you in a repentant relationship with Christ? Can you share a little more about your relationship with Christ? I think some people accept Christ and then sit back and wait for the miraculous but we need to 'pick up our cross and walk'. Which tells me we have to be active in our new faith, in continuing to allow God to build on our faith. I am praying for you, that although you may 'feel' rejected and lonely, this is not true. The truth is that you are loved, you are a son of the King of Kings, you are not abandoned or alone, you are secure with Him. Do you read the Bible? Do you pray, speak to Him? What are you doing for Him? He loves you so very much and this is fact....His love and sacrifice for us, is not based on feelings. God Bless you and may His truths and security be made known to you. <><
 
What does repentant relationship with Christ mean? I do read the bible, pray throughout my day, and I also speak to him. I am also a leader in a bible study group. You asked me what am I doing for Him? I don't think I'm doing anything for Him, not sure? Why?

Its just that we can 'know' God, know the Word and have knowledge, read our Bible etc even be a leader in a church...but not actually live it! be in a repentant, saved relationship with Him. If you are struggling in your life, that's not unusual, we all will have challenges. We will also have times when we feel distant from God...we go through our desert. But you said you felt empty and rejected, lonely. So I am just wondering if you really are secure. I do not ask this to offend. I know a minister who led a church, was a Christian over 50 years but was not born again until he was in his 70's. Only then did he experience the true meaning of a repentant relationship with Christ. He had a lot of knowledge, led some to the Lord even but his own relationship was quite barren and he constantly strived to have this 'relationship' that the Word promised but always seemed just out of reach to him. So, I only ask....because of how you described what you were going through. Perhaps you have not had a true revelation of Gods love for you, how you are a mighty son and heir of the king! When we have this, we can put feelings to one side and walk out in the truth. We need the Holy Spirit, when we have Him in us, we live a supernatural life and He gives us the power to live under Gods authority and to focus on Him. Are you struggling with other issues in your life right now perhaps? God Bless you, you are not alone, ever and are much loved and cherished. <><
 
I'm going through a difficult time and it's been three years of struggling. In this struggle I had been doing pretty good trusting in God, meditating on scripture, and waiting. But, every once in a while I'm flooded with lonliness. It would be nice to experience the supernatural life now and earlier today - but I don't know how that happens.

Well, I think you are trying...so hard to be a loving son. But as you know, it is not us that provides the faith, it is God. Maybe you need to fully surrender to him? It is hard.... think it might be useful to ask yourself what you could do more of in our life? And less of? Reading the Bible, but not 'mindlessly'. You know all about how to do a Bible study :) so set time aside for that, focus in on being still, let the Holy Sprit lead you to what He wants you to know. Stop striving for answers, instead, fully trust it will be revealed. Get your house in order....be active in getting your whole live in alignment with Gods will and under His authority. This is the tough bit! But if we are not obedient to Him, we cannot hear Him clearly and then we get lost, confused and think He is not there. You already have the supernatural life! Given to you when you accepted Christ and aim alone for your salvation. You may not be living it, but it's there!! How to unleash it? I love the analogy, if you want to walk on water, get out the boat :) start each day with expectation, live with it, it's the hope we have. As you speak the blessings he has given you and wants to give you over your life...you will begin to believe it. Next time you find yourself driving aimlessly....decide to drive somewhere where you can walk...a park? Even a city has its own beauty...and walk. Breath in the air Gods giving you, using the body, your eyes to see His creation. Sometimes, when we are laid low, we need to get back to basics, allowing Him to build us back up. Trust He will.
