What are the chariots ?

Nahum 2

King James Version (KJV)

2 He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.
2 For the Lord hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.
3 The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet:
the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.
4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.
5 He shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walk; they shall make haste to the wall thereof, and the defence shall be prepared.

no, if it's literal, it's literal.
chariots are chariots and horses are horses.

unless you're spiritualizing. tell me - what is the allegory for this not really-prophecy-against-Ninevah today - terrible awful Assad in Syria? - what did God really mean? Iraq?

Nahum 1
A prophecy concerning Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

...

Nahum 2:11
"Behold, I am against you," declares the LORD of hosts. "I will burn up her chariots in smoke, a sword will devour your young lions; I will cut off your prey from the land, and no longer will the voice of your messengers be heard."

As the Assyrians under Pul, Tiglath-pileser, and Shalmaneser, three of their kinds, had been employed by a just God for the chastisement of his disobedient people; the end being now accomplished by them, God is about to burn the rod wherewith he corrected Israel; and Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian empire, is to be destroyed. This prediction appears to have been accomplished a short time after this by Nebuchadnezzar and Cyaxares, the Ahasuerus of Scripture. - Clarke

....

Therefore their city Nineveh was destroyed, and Meroch-baladan, king of Babel (or as some think, Nebuchadnezzar) enjoyed the empire of the Assyrians. - Geneva

....

As Nahum refers to this in part prophetically, in part as matter of history (Na 1:9-13; 2:13), he must have lived about 720-714 B.C., that is, almost a hundred years before the event foretold, namely, the overthrow of Nineveh by the joint forces of Cyaxares and Nabopolassar in the reign of Chyniladanus, 625 or 603 B.C.

1. burden of Nineveh—the prophetic doom of Nineveh. Nahum prophesied against that city a hundred fifty years after Jonah.- JFBBC

...

Of Nineveh. The denunciation of this city is the object of the prophecy. The effect of Jonah's preaching had been only temporary; the reformation was partial and superficial; and now God's long suffering was wearied out, and the time of punishment was to come. (For an account of Nineveh, see note on Jonah 1:2.) - Pulpit

alright then.
who is it really about?
not Ninevah...it's some nation today hassling the Israeli State, ya?

will the UN rebuild and name a new city Ninevah?

you said this is future....so old Saddam or anyone else around today isn't part of Nahum 2.

Nineveh
Nineveh (English pronunciation: /ˈnɪn.ɪv.ə/; Akkadian: Ninwe; Classical Syriac: ܢܸܢܘܵܐ; Hebrew: נינוה‎ Nīnewē; Greek: Νινευή Nineuē; Naynuwa; Persian: نینوا‎ Latin: Nineve) was an ancient Assyrian city on the eastern bank of the Tigris River, and capital of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. It was the largest city in the world for some fifty years[1] until, after a bitter period of civil war in Assyria itself, it was sacked by an unusual coalition of former subject peoples, the Medes, Persians, Babylonians, Chaldeans, Scythians and Cimmerians in 612 BC. Its ruins are across the river from the modern-day major city of Mosul, in the Ninawa Governorate of Iraq.

well you tell me.
you have Jerusalem and Israel restored yet again - today...or in our future.
correct? isn't that what you're teaching?

so Jesus left something out - didn't He?

Concerning Zechariah 12: 9-10

Romans 11

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

can we for once actually take the time to:

1) post the whole chapter
2) actually read it?

okay...i will....let's see what Paul said.

Romans 11
The Remnant of Israel

1I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3“Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”a ? 4And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”b 5So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

7What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, 8as it is written:

“God gave them a spirit of stupor,
eyes that could not see
and ears that could not hear,
to this very day.”c
9And David says:

“May their table become a snare and a trap,
a stumbling block and a retribution for them.
10May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see,
and their backs be bent forever.”d
Ingrafted Branches

11Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. 12But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!

13I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry 14in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them. 15For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches.

17If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.

22Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree!

All Israel Will Be Saved

25I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26and in this waye all Israel will be saved. As it is written:

“The deliverer will come from Zion;
he will turn godlessness away from Jacob.
27And this isf my covenant with them
when I take away their sins.”g

28As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. 30Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may nowh receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. 32For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

Doxology

33Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom andi knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”j
35“Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay them?”k
36For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.

....

some key points:

- I ask then: Did God reject his people?

did he?

- By no means!

well....how can we know that?

- I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.

okay ....Paul is proof God has not cast away His people.

- 2God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew.

foreknew? what does that mean? Paul discusses those whom He foreknew somewhere else, right?

- 2God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew.

so he's going to tell us what it means that God has not cast away His people whom he foreknew:

- Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: 3“Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me” ?

okay...there's Elijah...elect prophet.
he's on the run and thinks he's the only Israelite left who cares about God - the others are trying to kill him.

Paul is explaining about God not casting away His people from Israel that He foreknew.
he goes back to Elijah, and all the apostates who have done wickedly.
does God say, that' alright, i'm saving them ALL REGARDLESS?

- 4And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.”

well there's the answer. God reserves for Himself a remnant of Israel.
He doesn't say they'll all be saved, He said most would NOT.
but He makes it clear he has NOT cast away the people He foreknew.
this is elect remnant language.

check it yourself.

then Paul brings it back to his day - when the question arises DID GOD CAST OFF ALL THE JEWS (ISRAEL)?

- “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

SO TOO AT THE PRESENT TIME (Paul's day) "there is a remnant chosen by grace."

okay...so that's what paul meant when he said God has NOT cast aside His people whom he foreknew.

- 6And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.

the above verse is in question - possibly added...i don't know. but it still makes sense, since we just saw what Paul was actually talking about - A REMNANT out of Israel would always be preserved and saved....a remnant chosen by grace.

MAKE SENSE SO FAR?

..................

so far, do we have any indication whatsoever that ALL ISRAEL WAS or would be saved?
no, we are told the opposite. God graciously preserved a remnant.

Paul held himself up AS PROOF.

so then what does he proceed to explain"

- 7What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened...

hardened...to be resurrected to eternal life anyway?
what did they seek so earnestly but DID NOT obtain?

did any obtain whatever it was?

- The elect among them did

....................

any problems so far?

You really should stop making these blasphemous statements.

What blasphemous statements???

What you need to do is go and read the Scriptures which I posted. The Scriptures teach that there will be the keeping of the Jewish Feasts and also that Animal Sacrifices will be reinstituted in the Millennial Kingdom.

Study your Bible, and stop following your feelings and emotions.

There will never be a re-institution of animal sacrifices for Jesus is the PERFECT and FINAL sacrifice.

Jesus is indeed the perfect and ultimate Sacrifice.

And there will indeed be animal sacrifices brought back in and reinstituted during the Millennial Kingdom. It is what the word clearly teaches. And by the way, the animal sacrifices do not add to or take away from the sacrifice which Jesus Christ gave on the Cross of Calvary.

Hebrews 10:9-14
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
12 But this man
[Jesus], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Correct. Hebrews 10 shows that the Law of Moses ended permanently at the death of the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Again though, in the Millennial Kingdom, God will have His Kingdom Law in place. And this Kingdom Law will be a brand new system.

Therefore the Law of Moses is not going to be reinstituted during the Millennial Kingdom, but the Kingdom Law will be.

And Therefore the animal sacrifices that will be reinstituted during the Millenial Kingdom do not at all violate the New Testament teachings such as Hebrews 10, concerning the end of the Mosaic Law with the death of Messiah.

Although it should also be noted that while there will be some similarities that the future Law of the Millennial Kingdom has to the Old Mosaic Covenant and Law, there will also be numerable differences between the two laws.

But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the Lord hath spoken it.
19 And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.
20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.
21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the Lord's.

and will be reported again and again and again until one of us is banned.

you are a blasphemous heretic.

cursed.

Zone, you simply do not understand the nature of the Law which will be brought in and implemented during the 1,000 year Reign of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

God sets up things as He will. It's His Kingdom. And we are to believe what His word clearly teaches.

What you falsely assume is that the animal sacrifices that will be brought back in during the Millennial Kingdom somehow add to or take away from the ultimate Sacrifice which Jesus Christ our Lord gave on the Cross of Calvary.

But they do not. The Millennial Reign on Earth will be a new Dispensation where a New System and Code will be in operation. And Jesus Christ our Lord will be the Head of it.

Study your Bible Zone. First of all, make sure you have a King James Bible. And then study those passages of Scripture which I posted in my previous response to you.

Read about the Temple and Alter that will be built during the Millennial Kingdom. Read the clear instructions that are given specifically in Ezekiel 44:1-46:24 during the Millennial System of Sacrifice and also of the priesthood. There will indeed be a sacrificial system instituted during the Millennial Kingdom.

35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.
36 Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

ya....i read this stuff all over.

Q. I was wondering. Could the person who offers the sacrifices in the temple when it is rebuilt in Ezekiel 40-48 be the anti-Christ? I know that the Holy Spirit lives in me and I just can’t see the Lord having anyone sacrifice animals. I surely wont be sacrificing animals, to me it would be an abomination.

A. Since Ezekiel 40-48 describes Israel in the Millennium after the anti-Christ is defeated and thrown into the lake of fire (Rev. 19:20), he can’t be the one offering the sacrifices. And unless you’re a Jewish priest working the the Temple you won’t be offering any either. Nor will any be offered on your behalf. You’ll be living in the New Jerusalem where there is no Temple, and you’ll be a perfected being who will no longer sin.

But the Bible clearly states that animal sacrifices will be required by God during the Kingdom Age on Earth. When your mind is no longer contaminated by your sin nature and you begin to see things the way God sees them, you’ll understand the reason for these sacrifices and will no longer think of them as abominations.

No Animal Sacrifice For Me - Gracethrufaith

Question: "When were Obadiah’s prophecies against Edom fulfilled (Obadiah 1:18-20)?"

Answer: A major factor in determining when Obadiah’s prophecies against Edom were fulfilled rests on when the book was written. The prophet mentions a recent invasion of Jerusalem (1:10-11), which helps to narrow down the date of writing. Jerusalem experienced four different invasions in Old Testament times, yet only two fit the time period under discussion in Obadiah. The early date would be about 841 B.C., when the Philistines and Arabians attacked Jerusalem during the reign of King Jehoram (2 Chronicles 21:16-17). The later date would be approximately 586 B.C., following the invasion of Babylon (2 Kings 24-25).

If the earlier date is correct, Obadiah would be the earliest of the prophetic books in the Old Testament. Those who hold this position refer to 2 Kings 8:20, which mentions Edom setting up its own king: “In his days Edom revolted from the rule of Judah and set up a king of their own.” Also used to support this date are comparisons of 2 Chronicles 21:16-17 with Joel 3:3-6 and Obadiah 1:11-12; as well as similarities between Obadiah 1:1-9 and Jeremiah 49:7-22.

If the later date is correct, the prophecy of Obadiah regarding Edom’s doom is more dramatic. Babylon completed its invasion of Jerusalem under King Nebuchadnezzar in 586 B.C. In the fifth century B.C., a people called the Nabateans defeated the Edomites and forced them from the city of Petra. The interval between prediction and fulfillment would, therefore, have been very short.

Regardless of the exact date, the predictions against Edom have already been fulfilled. Edom was removed from its land in the fifth century B.C., and there are no survivors of Edom today. This fulfilled the prediction in Obadiah 1:18: “They shall burn them and consume them, and there shall be no survivor for the house of Esau.” Some first-century leaders, such as Herod the Great, still traced their ancestry to Edom, but all mention of Edomites fades after the Jewish Wars of that era. At the end of the 4th century, Jerome referenced the land of Idumea (Edom), but the people of the region had long since disappeared.

Daniel 2

35 Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.

43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45 Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

Daniel 7

27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

There was a physical experience first, and there is a spiritual application, like Jerusalem became a spiritual city as John 4.21-24 shows.

34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.
37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

59 The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.
60 So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.
61 And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;
62 Then shalt thou say, O Lord, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

(6) Mighty Babylon, 196 miles square, was enclosed not only by a moat, but also by a double wall 330 feet high, each part 90 feet thick. It was said by unanimous popular opinion to be indestructible, yet two Bible prophets declared its doom. These prophets further claimed that the ruins would be avoided by travelers, that the city would never again be inhabited, and that its stones would not even be moved for use as building material (Isaiah 13:17-22 and Jeremiah 51:26, 43). Their description is, in fact, the well-documented history of the famous citadel.

Isaiah 34

King James Version (KJV)

34 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it.
2 For the indignation of the Lord is upon all nations, and his fury upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases, and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4
And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.
5
For my sword shall be bathed in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea, and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.
6 The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the
Lord hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea.
7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.
8 For it is the day of the Lord's vengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Surely in the fire of my jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the heathen, and against all Idumea, which have appointed my land into their possession with the joy of all their heart, with despiteful minds, to cast it out for a prey.

Ezekiel 35:15As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the Lord.

[h=3]Isaiah 63[/h]King James Version (KJV)

1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.
2 Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?
3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.
6 And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the eart

I wonder if revelation mentions the same exact thing just a thought
