I thought he did the right thing when he stepped down...not because I didn't like him, but because he was too good for the deceived masses that voted for girly man Trudeau

The masses that voted for Trudeau only numbered 32%, while Scheer's Conservatives got about 34%...kind of a mirror of what happened in the US with Clinton winning the popular vote but Trump winning the electoral college....Scheer received more votes but Trudeau got more seats.

If Harper does come back I think the Conservatives win the next election ,with either a strong minority or a slim majority.

After reading up on what's happening in Canada, I am sorry to hear of Andrew Scheer's resignation as a strong conservative leader. But, it sounds like he has been in politics for 25 years, and moving his family would have been difficult. I hope and pray that God will inspire someone to cover for him and help Canada move steadily towards healthy and uncompromising biblical values that will clearly, and decisively unite the country under common values worthy of Canada's history, and pioneer spirit of hard-working men and women who can look up to leadership that will restore Canada's order, as well as compassionate tolerance of party divisions, without compromising national Honor, and the same values that spared my own life in Canada many years ago from fetal trespassing and murder in the first degree which is what abortion is.

May God bless caring and courageous families who work together to save the innocent lives of the unborn by helping young mother's value the sacredness of life, especially in a country like Canada where over-population is not a pressing issue, and where it appears there are wolves lurking waiting for a kill. The difference is, wolves in nature don't kill for sport or convenience or political advantage.

May God bless Andrew Sheer for all he's done to save Canada from the wolves.

There are some things about Scheer about which you might not be aware.

During the election it came out that he had misrepresented his work experience. Scheer had boasted of his career working as an insurance broker, and climbing the ladder so to speak in attaining higher and higher levels of accreditation before entering politics. It was later revealed that he never even received his broker's license at all and that he was merely a gopher in an insurance office. More problematic was that he could have been charged because Sasketchewan has a law that makes it an offense to represent oneself as an insurance broker when one doesn't have an actual license.

Additionally in years past Scheer had derided NDP leader Thomas Mulcair and former Governor General Mickael Jean for holding dual national status...asking how someone holding a high political office could have dual nationalist status and hold two passports. What he never disclosed until it was uncovered by journalists is that he himself is a dual national and applied for and held a U.S. passport.

The two issues were small beer (to use an old expression) but it made it hard for Scheer to take Trudeau to task over his lies and hypocrisy without appearing like a weasel.

Its tough to get unbiased news these days...the way I look at it, with mainstream media sources like NBC/ABC/CBS/Fox in the US and CBC/CTV/Global here in Canada....its not a question of "fake news", the stories they're repeating are real....but they shine the light on those stories that push their agenda. In the US when Trump does something dumb (and he does do dumb things) the CNNS play it over and over and over and over...but when Trump does something good (and he does do good things) they either ignore it, put a negative spin on it, or simply under report it. The same thing in Canada.

In terms of print media, in Canada I find the Globe & Mail to be the most reasonable news source...not left or right leaning, simply reporting the facts and letting consumers form their own opinions.

I would disagree that the media reports with a bias rather than fake stories

I have heard some whoppers down here like enough to make your head pop if you had a tendency for a popping head

I am talking absolute and unconscionable lies. Canada, IMO, if far more segmented then down here.

anyway, we'll see what happens when Barr hits the fan.

are you aware that Biden actually is on record, video, saying he threatened to pull the billion to the Ukraine if the prosecutor who was headed his son's way wasn't fired? I doubt that plays on CBC...that is the actual quid pro quo right there. and then we have interview Hunter Biden did in which he basically admitted he was on the board of Burisma because of who his father was

I've seen and heard those things myself but they don't play on left news outlets

Well, I appreciate your opinion, but I don't know enough about the insurance issue. There are always two sides of the story. Could he have been under the umbrella of larger company that allowed him to work legally?

As far as the dual national, that I am aware of as dual citizenship, which I also qualify for but have not processed paperwork, no one should have a high public office when they are claiming dual country allegiance. Wouldn't it also be like claiming residency in two states or provinces?

As a resident of Alaska, removed from the continental US, I am first an Alaskan who is an American, who is also a Canadian by birth, legally. But, I could not claim to be a true Canadian, until I lived there, and had legal papers. It may be the same for Hawaiians.

I would be considered a "native of Alaska" but not an "Alaska native.". The federal government does a lot of good things here such as oversight of state and local government should they go astray. And when I travel through the Yukon Territory, I believe it is the Canadian government that maintains and builds the highways and the free campgrounds, which are now $20 a night here. So if someone is homeless because of the economy, they might run out of money and get arrested for not having a place to park or even camp, then they might be deemed "mentally ill," and put in jail where the government could, in theory, test experimental drugs on them designed to make them act crazier, and so losing their rights, they might have to be subjected to powerful radio waves, such as G5 microwave towers that permeate every room in your house, often causing insomnia, memory loss, and eventually death, which would suit "their" purposes, whoever "they" are, and when I find out, I might have to blast their evil Nazi quasi-false Islamic @#$$es to kingdom come with a silent neutron weapon from outer space, but I believe aliens are far more peaceful than this p#$$ed off illegal alien from Canada on illegal psych meds laced with cannabis smuggled across the border because the @#freeking vast left-wing conspiracy liberals won't pay for a simple wall, which the Canadian Mounties should be guarding any way because the Texas rangers are all high on peyote that the Indians told them was harmless as cannabis from Hawaii, if you know what I mean jfyi....
And this is why I can't find a girlfriend, even though I sing country songs better than Blake Shelton.

To be serious, I understand what you are saying. Jesus did say that the law would never pass away, and that if we are faithful over minor matters, we will be set over great things, (paraphrase).

It sounded like Andrew Sheer decided that the small matters we're enough to sink the ship, and that it was time to put conservative values in God's care, trusting in someone capable to take over. I can't imagine he would have stepped down without having someone in mind to take the helm.

As you may have gathered I am something of a political junkie.....as far Scheer's claims to be an insurance agent here's the story as it was reported here: https://globalnews.ca/news/5968537/scheer-insurance-broker-claim/

Scheer gave live interviews where he talked about being a licensed insurance broker, and climbing the ladder...getting higher and higher accreditations. He owned up to the fudging by explaining that did write and pass level one, but left the industry before receiving his actual license. As I said before "small beer", he's hardly the first person to lie about previous work experience to try and make himself look good.

As for holding two passports, in Canada there's nothing illegal about it....our first Prime Minister John A. MacDonald was born in Scotland after all. The problem for Scheer is that he made an issue of it in previous years when it was our Governor General and another party leader (Thomas Mulcair) who held dual national status....it wasn't okay for them to hold two passports, but I guess Scheer figured he could keep his status secret and score political points....when it was revealed he claimed he had just started the process to renounce his U.S. citizenship (which he was granted because his father was born in the U.S.). Given Andrew's propensity for fabrication I find it hard to believe anything he says.

FWIW my brother is a dual national....we moved back and forth between the US and Canada when I was growing up and my brother was born in New Jersey. As such his kids also have dual national status....although my brother never applied for a U.S. passport as Scheer did. For my brother its a pain because he has to file with the IRS.....I haven't talked to him about it recently but earlier he'd talked of renouncing it as well so that his kids (who've never lived in the U.S.) won't have the hassel of having to file income taxes in two countries.

Personally I'm glad Scheer is gone, mainly because I believe he was a Conservative in name only. For many people that's enough, like those who read the title of a book and say "I like this book, it says its about freedom"....but never read the book and don't know that the book is actually opposed to freedom.

A case in point is Scheer's support of farm marketing boards in Canada. Basically marketing boards are socialist cartels that inflate the price of things like dairy products and eggs. Because of these cartels families pay about $400 - $500 more per year than they would have to under a free market system. Scheer supported them because they're good at lobbying and he needed their support to win the leadership of the Conservative party over Max Bernier who wanted to eliminate them....he ended up beating Bernier by 51 to 49% for the leadership.....so basically the Conservatives chose a guy to lead them who really is a Liberal on economic issues.

I can go on and on :) I'm hoping Stephen Harper comes back....

I apologise for my crazy ranting, it's just one way I deal with stress and PTSD. But it's better than acting out anger and revenge.

It sounds like you know the issues in detail. Martin Luther expressed anguish over Christians in name only, like the Apostle James on behalf of the Lord.

Experiencing freedom can be real in any country. As far as being real on the page - A citizen of Heaven must be willing to die for Christ above all else.

I'm military brother, so if you need to rant (you don't come across as anything close to crazy) to blow off some steam/stress....go right ahead, and I'll read every word.

Freedom is a funny thing...that can mean different things to different people. Some find freedom in areas that others believe to be opression....we're all imperfect creatures. I'm debating where to attend worship tomorrow. I belong to a Reformed church, but I play basketball with some Penetcostals and I really enjoy their style of worship at times....depends how energetic I am. Sometimes I'm more solemn and reflective, other times I want to jump and clap and shout out.

Harper is never coming back. I think he is involved with running the party, but a defeated leader like Harper, who is doing so well in private business, would have no motive to come back.

As far as Scheer, he was an intelligent and honest man. A million times better than Trudeau. But Trudeau gave the MSM in Canada $600M to report the news the way he wanted it. They never hounded Trudeau or asked questions, like they did to Scheer. Black face alone should have taken him down, but the media ignored it.

I've heard it said that Scheer was more or less an outsider to the Conservative party, which is why they hounded him out. I voted for Scheer for leader of the party. I am so disillusioned now, I don't know if I will vote again or just resign from the party. Grass roots doesn't seem to matter to the Conservative overlords.

The situation is very sad! About now, I am seriously looking at #Wexit. Certainly the west has been abused too long by the Laurentian Elites! I am sorry to say I have given up on this corrupt version of Canada that Trudeau has created, with his globalist/UN buddies. He doesn't even head up the Liberals, he just gave Chrystia Freeland all his prime ministerial duties. She's another bad one. Friend of Soros, grandfather was a Nazi collaborator!

If you could link the Biden video that would be great....I have little doubt that Hunter was on Burisma's board because his daddy was the VP....politics and biz have always gone hand in hand. In Canada we have a former PM's son as our current Prime Minister....Justin Trudeau was a part time drama/french teacher before entering politics and if it wasn't for his last name being Trudeau and the millions he inherited I'm convinced he'd still be a teacher and not the most senior elected politician in this country.

Personally I found Scheer's honesty to be wanting....as to who's the bigger liar, Trudeau or Scheer....typically that falls along party lines. Conservative party members will forgive Scheer his lies and misreprentations and Liberals forgive Trudeau's.

When it comes to Harper, time will tell....I've seen just one article that shares my view that a comeback is possible. As to motivation, I think ultimately it would come down to ego if Harper does come back. He doesn't need the money, when he left office his net worth was reportedly at about $5 million. Harper actually started out as a Liberal, and then switched to the Conservatives and later to the Reform/Alliance because of his abhorance of Justin's dad Pierre. Justin has a minority and typically minorities only last somewhere around 2 years....18-24 months is the norm. Harper is only 60 years of age, so he's still close to his prime in terms of politics.

Harper sits on the board of the fundraising arm of the Conservative party, and was reportedly none too pleased with the secret deal Scheer had worked out that got the party to pay for his kids' private schooling.....all while Andrew had a free mansion to live in with a private cook and all the other perks that go with leading her majesty's official opposition along with a salary in excess of 200K a year.

After reading up on what's happening in Canada, I am sorry to hear of Andrew Scheer's resignation as a strong conservative leader.
Had Andrew Scheer been *a strong conservative leader* he would have defeated Trudeau hands down. He betrayed his party and his constituency by his lackadaisical handling of the election. The conservatives had ample ammunition to show Canadians that Trudeau has always been a fraud and a traitor. But they were coasting along all the time while Trudeau was engaging in his shenanigans. They had four years to come up with a strong leader and an outstanding platform. But they refused to stand up for what is right.

As to Stephen Harper, had he used his golden opportunities to put Canada into a stronger position all around, and have all Canadians see the value of conservatism, Canada would not be the laughingstock of the world with a clown in charge. Harper squandered his majority and thus handed Canada to to the feckless Liberals. Trudeau should never have been elected if Harper had made sure that he would never have that opportunity to do so. Which always means doing what is right for the country consistenly, not for the politicians.

At the same time we know that until Canada deals effectively with Quebec and Quebec Separatism (which means allowing them to go their own way without robbing Canada blind), Quebecers will always call the shots even though they have no right to do so. When they had a Referendum and they could have been long gone, the Easterners did their utmost to let Quebec remain and continue to plague Canada. So now the Bloc is going to play its games again while Andrew Scheer departs.

If you look at the 2016 election in the US and the recent British election, the concept of a progressive conservative party is a bit of an oxymoron...and any future a conservative political party has is in actually putting the nation it represents first and actually ... conserving it.

The only true Conservative option for Canadians in the 2019 election was Bernier's People's Party....however too many people decided to vote for Scheer's Fake Conservatives because they didn't mind electing another Liberal gov't, they just wanted to get rid of Trudeau...I know lots of traditional Conservative voters who told me "I like the People's Party a lot more than Scheer's party....but if I vote for the People's Party that's just stealing votes and it'll result in Trudeau winning again".
