And some don't have the time and/or interest to go in circles with people. Not everyone who joins this site is looking for an endless argument. Doubt you're going to convince anyone to do anything, whether it's the ones dodging or those who don't come here to argue. Chances are your opinion isn't going to dictate how others act, much as you seem to want it to.
I have a much different outlook on this. When I take part in a debate with someone on a website like this, Im not actually thinking about the person Im debating, but the people who are reading the thread : p
I mean like, this is a forum, a site for discussion. We all come here to both read and take part in discussions. My thoughts are on the people reading my posts, not the one person Im engaging with. I mean like, when I get into a debate with someone, it starts because the person Im debating posted their opinion for everyone to see, and I believe its entirely wrong and will mislead others.
Like, I commonly take part in debates that are more personal for me, and one of them is the issue of homsexuality. There are a small handful of members here who like to go to those threads and shame others for agreeing that its wrong. So of course, I want to give an alternative point of view to their post, and show how they are wrong,
When I do this, Im well aware Im gonna cause the poster Im disagreeing with to not like me, and that they will more than likely harden their stance : p But its the people they were speaking to when they made the post that Im actually thinking about when I respond to them.
I could be totally wrong, but I seem to be in the minority with this way of thinking.
As for answering every response, its easy to forget you were even in a serious convo anyway : p Alot of times I also wont come back unless someone liked one of my posts on the thread, haha.
