I am writing this summary because I feel paralyzed by a pain that mixes my mental health with crises of faith. I feel a deep discouragement, to the point of wishing I had never been born. My self-esteem is nonexistent: I feel ugly, graceless, and unworthy of being loved. I live trapped in obsessive thoughts that prevent me from studying for my dream college and from living in the present.
What crushes me the most, however, is the spiritual weight. But the central point of my anguish today is theological doubts that cause me fear of condemnation:
• What really defines a heresy from a Protestant perspective? I'm afraid I might one day be a heretic.
• Does salvation exist in churches considered heretical?
• Is there a hierarchy of severity? I want to understand if there is a difference between a 'serious heresy' (which brings harm and risks to innocent people within the church) and a 'fatal heresy' (one that would be so profound as to take away salvation even from the innocent who are there).
This uncertainty about what constitutes heresy and who is saved causes me a constant fear of being 'outside' or in opposition to the sacred, which intensifies my feelings of hopelessness. Because I overthink! Please, if there is even a Christian, help me
