I am so out of place in this thread. I play games for the story... but games with a story are getting hard to find. There are lots of games that have a poor excuse for a story, something slapped on just as an excuse for the gameplay, but there are very few games that are actually made for the purpose of telling a story these days. "Dust: An Elysian Tale" was the most recent one I can remember.

Yeah I used to be the kind of gamer who had no life and played video games all the time - to the point that sometimes I would worry a bit that I wouldn't be able to find a good game to play when I was done with the game I was playing at the time. Then I got a life. These days I still play games, but video games fill in blank spots in my life instead of being my whole life.

I tend to be a tad bit on the fence about story heavy games. I was superdy duper addicted to videogames as a kid, so something that requires a lot of investment tends to make me nervous. But at the same time I do tend to enjoy them more when they have some kind of narrative. Just depends.

Narrative is very important to me too in most RPGs modern or retro. Games like are Mario fun without but there exceptions. Stuff like mobile games like Angry birds or mmo's with only no plot or drive and are just meant to play endlessly have no appeal to me. Fortnite is a popular one and I cant imagine why as it looks like the Sims 4 gave up and was made into a battle royal.
 
Anyone knows Paradox games? CK2, Stellaris, HOI4, Skylines etc? (like Civilization or Sim City but better) I've always into RPG and strategy. Used to play mass effect also (trilogy) and I still have in my shelf full collection of sims 2 and 3.
Well since I got married haven't played sims. Got IRL experience good enough with my wife and two toddlers lol.

and when speaking of RPGs modded Skyrim. So full of content and RP stuff basically in all areas (with mods) that I consider it best of a kind game.

I think I may have heard of them. Stellaris I have heard of so thats probably where. Skyrim modded I stay away from. Too tempting for the more risque mods. Not that I have a good enough PC to run it anyway.
 
Yeah. mods can easily burden the game if pc is not strong enough. And about the mod content, not all content is good. There are those gems that improve already a great game and then those which don't fit there at all or change it to direction what I don't like play.

I struggle with a pornography addiction so I tend to stay away from any potential problems
