Oh dear! John, John, John, I am so sorry to hear that but you know what??? It can still work out because you moving into an area that is already popular for people seeking community over coffee and croissants (etc) simply means your customer base is already in place! If what you have to offer is superior, and from what you have described as your standards it sounds like it very well could be, then over time the quality of your offerings will draw away from the existing businesses to grow your own. That is a something I lived through, not with my own business (ha, I never wanted that headache) but at the last lab I worked in of the three over the full course of my adult life: we moved onto a block where there were already three photo lab businesses. I am not sure how long it took, but pretty soon, we were the last one standing heh that is to say, us and the only other one that specialized in black and white. The other two? We put them out of business because we offered a superior product. I pray you do not give up hope! After all you have done and is in the works still, keep moving forward!
