op: applying God's Word to politics?
If this is in the BDF, how come there is very little discussion of The Bible, eh?:

I believe Those verses apply to the prophecies of [ Future ] "Great Tribulation For Israel"

How about these, in the Current [ Mystery ] Age Of Grace, For The Body Of Christ?:

"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God:
the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power,
resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be
afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be
afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger
to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually
upon this very thing.
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to
whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour." (Romans 13:1-7 AV)
+
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving
of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that
we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
[ from another forum about:slandering those in authority? ]
For this is good and acceptable in The Sight of God ( Jesus Christ ) our Saviour;
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of The Truth"
(1 Timothy 2:1-3 AV)

Amen.
You posted a very important point that has tremendous political application:

For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually
upon this very thing."

We can see that powers who ARE a terror to good works and ABET evil are NOT ministers ordained by God but rather they should be resisted and replaced if possible. I for one view the current Dem party as being servants of Satan as discerned by their ungodly policies.

But Eli1, you apply biblical teaching in order to judge that Trump is a better presidential candidate than the Dems who hold even fewer Christian values.

Remember that votes are for the purpose of saving our country from atheist Marxists/Globalists policies, NOT to indicate approval politicians' personal sins. You DO want future generations to be blessed with at least the same quality of life that previous generations passed on to us, don't you?
The Biblical teachings says that Trump is nowhere close to having some sort of Christian kingdom here and i know well what comes from anyone trying to legislate Religion. We become like Afghanistan or Iran.
None of us here would be any good to having some sort of Christian nation despite our best intentions.
So i don't apply Biblical teachings in my choice to Trump, but a personal moral choice of the lesser of two evils.

I’ve wondered about the inclusion of geese here, I had always considered them
as a food item, not that I have ever eaten any of that particular type of fowl.
Wildlife is protected in some places. Particularly certain species, and genus.
You can't just go around killing animals in urban areas.

The MAGA folks are not trying to establish a kingdom but rather trying to prevent a fascist dictatorship from being established, and Trump is doing more for our cause than you or me, so have some humility and hope that we all will try to sin no more. (JN 8:11)

This isn't a question of humility brother but a question of peace and hope in God.
This is what Christ promised us while here that He does not have a Kingdom of this world.
No man can have the kingdom of god here ... without God. And no man is without sin except Christ.
The concept of eternity is pretty boring and meaningless without God. It would be like 2 people waiting for a 3rd person that never shows up who is the Creator.

And yes, preventing a fascist government that has created language limitations and enforcement is precisely the balance of the equation .. which again has nothing to do with the Kingdom of God. These two things are separate for me.

I can tell you do not attend one of the churches that prays every Sunday for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

I actually do attend one of those churches, but that prayer says that God's will must be present and He must be present. That's what we ask in that prayer.
We don't ask for a random soul in year 2024 to have the knowledge, wisdom and foresight to create a perfect kingdom here.

Neither do the maga folks, so I don’t see why you think they do unless you only watch the Dem media.

If you're saying that the MAGA folks are making the same mental separation of religion from politics then i agree with you and i stand corrected.

We can round up everyone who has come here seeking a better life, those hoping to start over in a Christian nation, and put them in detention camps. Then ship them all back where they came from. That would be a good start wouldn't it.
Yet another Godwin's Law fail.

Lord!

The need is for us to cooperate with Jesus’ prayer for God’s will to be done on earth including voting for government that rewards good or allows Christians to share the gospel and how we should live.

See, the problem that i have with this, and i think we need to adjust our language a bit so we can better understand each-other, the biggest problem is that this is similar to communism where it's a nice idea on paper but due to our corrupt nature it's always hijacked by a dictator because what does someone with more power and pride wants? More power and pride!
That's why this failed experiment throughout the course of humanity can't work because ... it's missing God.

That's why any extremist Muslim countries also turn into dictatorships.
That's why i see it as a balance. Trump can brute force a Bible in schools which is made of gold and his signature and it's made in China or wherever .. but this is still 10 times better than the left who mutilates children while saying that the brain doesn't develop until late 30s.
That's why we do the best we can in our fallen world and we ask God to come and make His will permanent here because without Him we are helpless.

Preventing the country God has blessed us with from becoming communist is exactly what maga is trying to prevent so I hope you will help us sinners do that by voting for the less good than you desire.

Applying Christian beliefs to politics has been problematic ever since Peter told the Sanhedrin "We must obey God rather than men!" (Acts 5:29)

How should we do this in the current political situation to issues such as national borders, abortion, globalism and lawfare?
Do you know God's thoughts on such issues?

Plus we need to be careful in the meaning of Acts 5:20 as Peter and crew weren't trying to jail the Sanhedrin or change national laws but rather were effectively saying "I must live my life as unto the Lord".

I'm an Aussie so our political systems are different but they still both hold to a fundamental principle in that our governments are meant to represent the people and we both are meant to be bound by freedoms. You have your freedom of speech written into your Constitution which, we Aussies do not, but even so, we have seen how authorities can bypass it by using arms like big tech to silence people to some extent.

In response to your question though, first we must know the answer to my opening question, then we must apply the principles in our lives, speaking up without fear or prejudice where necessary, not wavering remembering that ultimately our battle is spiritual in origin.

Eph.6:10-14a
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then,

You do well to quote from Ephesians, which is my favorite of Paul's epistles, but don't pass over 4:11-15, which answers your question about how we learn God's thoughts on various issues:

God gave some to be apostles... and some to be pastor and teachers to prepare God's people for works of service so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ... speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is Christ."

27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations.
