Many people say, that the prophecies in the Bible have no real purpose or meaning for them, is that true. Or do they point to the events which prove that God is guiding and protecting no matter what the situation at hand, and what does that do for a believer?

While many prophecies have no direct bearing on us, they are important for several reasons.
We learn through them that God both knows the future and is capable of bringing His plans to fruition. We learn that God is patient and that He does not leave sin unpunished.
Fulfilled prophecy is a major character reference for God. It reassures us that God knows our own situations today and tomorrow, that we can trust Him completely, and that the prophecies yet to be fulfilled will certainly be fulfilled in His time.

Yes, the Bible prophecies are important.
Good question.
Off the top of my head I would think the prophecies that were fulfilled were important,
and those fulfilled by Jesus were very important.
Also, what Jesus and Paul prophesied were important, but any others were less important.

The Bible usually explains itself. You can find a scripture pointing to Jesus is every book of the Old Testament. Prophecy helps to keep us stable. We need not be alarmed by what is going on right now in the world. Paul warned us in advance.

God identifies Himself as the one true God for He told us the end from the beginning.
Prophesy shows God is real.
The antichrist will negotiate peace in the Middle East resulting in a 7 years peace treaty which is a peace treaty for the world for they chose sides.
It will pave the way for all Hebrews to go to Israel which the Gentile nations will cause it to happen and they will not be left in the nations anymore.
The world will be divided in to 10 sections with a leader in each section as they work for peace.
The New Age Christ, antichrist will push the agenda of the new age and things will change drastically.
And he will prepare the world for when he claims to be God.
They will stop the preaching of the Gospel of Christ and the belief in a personal God on a world wide scale in favor of the new age interpretation of religions that exalts people.

The new age that interprets the Bible and religions according to the occult and evolution, and people are going to evolve to be spiritual, and greater, and Jesus became an ascended master among others, and there is no personal God, but they honor the God of forces the power of the Cosmos, and the New Age Christ is the next world teacher.
The time will come that people will not want to hear the truth of the Bible but want to hear it according to the new age.
The Pope and Vatican will go along with the new age interpretation of the Bible.
The unified religious system is based on the new age and they will not allow anything to be taught contrary to it which sparks a war between Islam and the world which they will bomb the Arab nations with nuclear weapons.

This war is so terrible that they accept the New Age Christ as the solution for peace on earth.
They will have prepared the cities to move all people in to the cities which is Agenda 21.
No development can happen outside city limits, and the people are the police force.
They want to give the people a microchip under the skin linked to satellite like a GPS tracking system for humans.
They can watch the people, and know their location, and if a crime happens they will know who was in the area, and how close they were to the crime scene.
This will cut out judges, lawyers, and the now known police force.
All information about the person will be on the chip including finances for it is the one world economic system.
The New Age Christ's agenda is there is no personal God to help mankind but their technology can help them to deter crime, and have peace.
The microchip is the mark of the beast.
When they take the mark of the beast salvation is no longer available to the world.
So if you tell them what is going to happen from the time of the 7 years peace treaty to the false prophet wanting everyone to get the microchip when it starts happening they might consider the Bible could be true and might embrace it.
Salvation is available to the world all the way until they take the microchip.
Prophesy is a good way to get them to consider the Bible is real.
God already told us the end time.
1 Thessalonians 5:20 says "Do not despise prophecies."
Like you said, it is proof of God working in the world. It also gives us hope and warning about the future.
all scripture both Old and New Testament are essential for Christian faith. The Bible is 66 books made of the Laws, major and minor Prophets, wisdom books, Geologies, drama, songs, prayers
, Eyewitnesses, Historical narratives, and Geographical location written by approximately 40 writers over 4000 years. that did not know each in many cases and prophecies over 1000, 600, 300, years about Christ which are were fulfilled by Him and just 10 of them is mathematically impossible and Jesus fulfilled 300 of them.
