The main reason that those who want the ten commandments to be observed exactly as they are by letter in the Old Law Covenant is to have them as confidence that they are justified to claim the Old Law Sabbath is yet fully binding upon us and that God will condemn our failure to observe it exactly as was mandated in the Old Covenant.

Avinu alludes to Leviticus 16:31 in one of his threads 'TRUE BIBLICAL SABBATH, NOT MAN'S SABBATH' which he posted back on July 20, 2011.

Leviticus 16:31 “It shall be a sabbath of rest unto you, and ye shall afflict your souls, by a statute for ever.”

He could have also alluded to verse 34 but he conveniently didn't.

Leviticus 16:34 “And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.”

Why did Avinu leave out verse Leviticus 16:34 in his opening post to his thread? It shows that, whether intentionally or unintentionally, Avinu is being deceptive. It is clear that verse 34 was ended in Jesus' sacrifice but for him to let that be noticed would also mean his claim that verse 31 proves the Old Law's Sabbath to be forever is highly questionable.

So, reasonably, we ought to want to know, 'How could God tell them those statutes were forever and then they turn out not to be, as in verse Leviticus 16:34?

It is because these things were told them on the basis that they did not break that Old Law Covenant and give the law reason to have to condemn them.

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.
14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: …........”

Luke 16:16 "The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it."

Thank you for the scripture. It is repeated in Matthew as well

Mat 11:13 Before John (the Baptist) came, the Law of Moses and all the prophets told about the things that would happen.

Then Jesus followed on after John and he said this :-

Mat 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. (KJV)

Mat 5:17 "Don't think that I have come to destroy the Law of Moses or the teaching of the prophets. I have come not to destroy their teachings but to give full meaning to them. (ERV)

Amen.

There in my post #121 I gave a scripture reference and stated, "It is because these things were told them on the basis that they did not break that Old Law Covenant and give the law reason to have to condemn them."

The real point is that Old Law Covenant had to be broken by fleshly Israel else all of the things under that law would have continued on forever and Jesus never would have been sacrificed for our sins.

Think about the implications of that as to what it shows about the real purpose of that Old Law Covenant. It is quite clear from that, that Paul was correct when he said that it was but a temporay schoolmaster, an added feature to expose sin to man until the seed of promise arrived.

Could I have ever come to the knowledge of God's nature and His way unless I came to the cross first. So, where do I place my faith, law or the cross.

If there is no law there is no sin, if there is no sin there is no need of a saviour, if there is no saviour there is no grace. It all starts with people wanting to get rid of the law. To do away with the law is to do away with grace.
Romans 7:12 KJV
(12) Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

When we love the One Who was on the cross our desire is to not continue causing His agony by breaking laws where sin finds its strength. Of course we live in grace providing it is not used as license to break our Father's commandments, His will that is.

God's Law helps us to see our sinfulness and how far we fall short of God. God's Law shows us how much we need Jesus Christ and his saving grace. God's Law convicts us and God's grace saves us.

but when it flows through flesh and blood, flesh being weak it kills. So what do I do I die to the Law and come alive to the Law keeper of Love (Christ Jesus the only righteous one) hin being the fulillment of all Law and therefore only being a partaker in Christ's righteousness I am therefore righteous in the sight of God the Father and am forever thankful of this free gift that I never earned and can never earn. And if anyone ever thinks they have to earn it then it is no more a gift

Romans 5:15But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Romans 5:16
And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
Romans 5:18Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.
Ephesians 1:7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Ephesians 4:32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Colossians 1:14In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Yes then let us appreciate this amazing salvation
Hebrews 2:3How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

And once we see this we are transferred from death to life by and through the resurrection of christ dead to sin and alkiuve to God read Romans 6:1-11 and even further
