South Korea, Japan, Taiwan are going first...
Then sections of Europe. (Italy....Greece)
Societal collapse is imminent....not a fear mongering created crisis. It's real and coming. Signs are everywhere and real. Unavoidable at this point for many.
Dog days of retirement are coming...where dying too young is not as bad as what is coming. And having enough resources is not the answer to your biggest problems. In fact financial resources can become the problem making you a target. Just saying....

But...children can care....I seen how my father needed cataract surgery...he got it and now can see better than he has in 40 years. I mow his lawn, check up on him several times each week....we have OUR pew at church...lol.
I also feed him regularly too. (Cooking for one kinda sucks)

Elderly cant think or reason completely like they once could....but have the hubris to believe they still can.
Then there's all the short term memory issues....cant remember if they did have breakfast much less what they ate if they did.
Eating Alpo because you did not have to cook it and it was cheap is not proper meal planning. (Dog days of retirement)

With today's habits of people refusing to connect physically with others multiple times a day....hiding out in their homes doesn't get better with old age....it gets multiple times worse as we age.
Basically we are going to witness lots of people dying alone and completely forgotten by society in their homes/apartments....no one knows them and no one cared about them. Possibly the overdue rent gets the landlord to look in on them when they dont reply to the rent increase. Literally (autopay is a double edged sword)

Are you ready for your new life?

No matter what, somebody is going to find some way to say the end is near.

Remember when global cooling was the big thing? Everyone was forecasting the next ice age. (Yeah that was multiple decades ago... But they really were sounding the alarm about global cooling back in the day.) Now it's global warming. Ugh, make up your mind!

Back in the day people were making dire predictions about the human population getting too big. Now we're crying about not having enough people being born. MAKE UP YOUR MIND!

That part about dying alone in my apartment... That sounds ideal. No drama, no hospital visit while they try to squeeze a few more days out of me and a few more dollars out of my health insurance... Sounds nice. Sure sounds better than some ways I could die.

Oh, and if you deliberately CHOOSE to listen to Joe Rogan's fear mongering, you deserve whatever paranoia you wind up with. Enjoy the stress and eventual heart attack. He makes a living peddling doom.

So I stopped going to look after my mum on June 5th . On July 4th she had asked me to go and c her so i did . We spent a couple of hours in small talk and just b 4 I was due to leave , she mentioned that her carer was going on holiday at the end of this month for ten days . I know she was waiting for me to offer to fill in for her . So , she said that she doesn't need someone every day then said that my step sister Liz has offered to do it . She looked me right in the eyes and said very firmly ' I cannot stand the thought of her being here every day ' . I said that ' you've just said that u don't need someone every day so just get Liz to come every other day ' . My poor step sister ( paranoid schizophrenic ) has no idea that my mams ( and her carer Mel's ) nickname for her is ' the lunatic ' and that my mam has slagged Liz's husband off to my entire family . What do I do ? Personally I'm inclined to just say nothing . My mam talks about literally everyone behind their backs . Her carer Mel thinks that my mam loves her more than she loves anybody else in the world but , all I would have to do to shatter that illusion is to open my mouth and tell Mel all the things that my mam has said about her behind her back . But again I say nothing . Am I doing right by keeping my mouth shut about my mams evil ways ? My mam says these things to me and others because she knows that we r mostly , not the kind of people who spread gossip / rumours etc . So she's been getting away with all this sort of thing for literally decades . Am I wrong in keeping my mouth shut ? If I opened it I know that many people would b deeply hurt by the things my mam has said about them behind their backs but , have I not been enabling her all these years by saying nothing ? I'm still inclined to say nothing as I don't trust my own motives if I decide to say something , would I not b just getting my own back by opening my mouth ? I've had to live with all this duplicitousness and nastyness all my life . I'm finally breaking away . I think I should just keep my mouth shut and not look back .

You are a much better person than I am, Suze.

I would have a hard time not saying anything, but unfortunately, and as you well know, I think this is a no-win situation.

And with what you've described about your Mum's personality, I wouldn't be surprised if they start leaking out around the people who chose to remain around her.

Either way, it looks like God has given you a way out, and I'm very glad to hear you've been able to take it. No, I don't think you're enabling her -- I think you've done the very best you could, and it's amazing, and inspiring, that you've held on this long!

May God bless you in this hopefully more peaceful chapter in your life.

Thank you for that , I'm not naturally contentious and I hate to think I have hurt anyone's feelings . So I shall keep my mouth shut . I do honestly feel a bit like Lot , escaping Sodom and , very importantly , not looking back . God has surely taken pity on me , even more than usual , as a few stressful things have been removed from my life and I'm very grateful for that . I'm starting to feel like my old happy carefree self again and , u and many others on here , have certainly helped with your kindness and support ❤️ . May God continue to bless this site and everyone on it 🙏

By the way I think it's odd how we talk about elderly people as though they are some different species.

THIS IS YOUR FUTURE! If you survive this is what you will be one day. Someday you will look at an egg and a frying pan and you will feel like "this just isn't worth the effort."

You are getting ahead of the game though. That part about hubris, you already have that in spades.

I had a family member who lived to be past 100. Even to the end, this person took no medications, not even a vitamin pill, did not walk with a cane or any kind of assistance, and while their memory certainly wasn't the same, their mind was still pretty doggone sharp for being that age. I saw how God handled things to the end even with no children around, and that's what I put my faith in.

Yes, we are to be aware of what's going on in the world around us. But to my knowledge, God doesn't say, "Trust in statistics, put your faith in those headlines, and make it your main focus to go out in a blaze of glory at the end of your life!"

Every person wants to believe they will be cared for and surrounded by doting loved ones at the end of their life. But even the person with a football team's worth of children does not always get that.

I understand that this is what people want -- but it's not something God promises. And yes, I know very well that many people are dying alone and forgotten.

How much adoration are you expecting at your funeral? How long do you expect to be remembered after you die? Because although it's important to us as human beings, it doesn't seem to be the ultimate goal that God tells us to strive for.

It breaks my heart that other people go out in what we see as a very sad and lonely end, but I don't see it that way for myself. For many years, I had weekends off, and I knew that if I died Friday night, no one would likely find me until Tuesday. When I didn't show up for work on Monday, people would wonder, but probably think I was sick. But if I didn't show up on Tuesday, they would have started to investigate. And honestly, who cares when they would find me? I'd be in heaven! I couldn't care less, except that I would hope the earthly details wouldn't be a burden to anyone.

I have always told my parents, and friend who's a self-taught, nearly pro-level gardener that if I die before them, just turn me into a compost heap. Hopefully, they'll get a lovely crop of flowers from my remains, because I love flowers.

One of my hobbies used to be reading murder cases. To me, it was a way to remind myself that no matter how horrible this world gets, God is still in control, and He has the ultimate say.

One of the worst cases I ever read, and will always remember, was the case of a little girl named Jessica. At 9 years old, she was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and eventually buried alive in a sheet of plastic. Her body was found wrapped in that plastic, along with the stuffed animal she had been clutching to the very end. The most heartbreaking part is that some reports say there were small puncture holes in the plastic, apparently from where she had tried to poke through it with her tiny fingers in order to try to breathe.

I know for some people, this will bring up the age-old question of, "If God is good, and if God is loving, why does He allow such terrible thing to happen?" It's a question that has perplexed me all my life as well. I will never know the answers until I get to heaven, and even then, my little pea brain is probably far too small to understand.

But there is one thing I do know.

Jessica died in about the most horrible way any human being could ever imagine. No one knew where she was -- but God knew. God knew exactly who she was, where she was, and what she had suffered through. God was with her throughout her horrifying ordeal, and God was with her when she died. And, we hope, God then welcomed her with open arms and a level of comfort our earthly minds can't even fathom.

God doesn't tell me that Joe Rogan, the media, or statistics are my gods. He doesn't tell me that those are my authority and what I should base my life on. Sure, cautionary tales can be heeded as warnings and used as clues for to how to prepare, but God does not say to put our trust in those things. I don't pay attention to anyone who listens to and preaches "the news" a whole lot more than they preach the love, hope, and faithfulness of God.

Rather, this is what the God I know tells me:

"Even to your old age and gray hairs,
I am He. He who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you,
I will sustain you and rescue you."

Isaiah 46:4

Now, if there are Scriptures saying, "Newsflash! Please disregard! Mr. Joe Rogan, in his Infinite Wisdom, overrides this statemen! Please listen to him and social media as the ultimate authorities over the Almighty God of the Universe!", I am all ears.

If anyone can point me to these very words in the Bible, I will gladly look them up and if I can read them for myself. I can't say I would change my mind, but I would at least be willing to read them.

Otherwise, I know one thing.

If God was with Jessica when she died, He will also be with me. If I die alone, unnoticed, and forgotten in the corner of some place in the middle of nowhere, so what? Who really cares? The Bible tells us our lives are but a vapor. Solomon, whom I'm sure didn't die alone in an apartment, told us everything in this life is mere vanity. God doesn't tell me I'm a better person or spiritually superior if I have what others tell me is a "good" death.

Compared to little Jessica, I would be dying a queen's death. And God will know me and be with me, just like He was with her. (And someday, I will hopefully be able to meet her and give her an enormous hug.)

It's ironic that singles are always told they're selfish because they don't have to think of anyone but themselves. Not the singles I know!!! They are all caring for other people who can no longer do a lot of things for themselves, and many are picking up the slack because everyone else in the family is refusing to help, all saying that their own spouses and children are much more important than helping to care for their own parents. Gee, that's not selfish at all.

And of course, not all married people are that way. I know several marrieds who are taking care of their parents AND raising their own families. But the point is, whether single or married -- selfishness creeps into ANY living situation.

A married person might have certain things they see as being safety valves -- a spouse and children whom they assume will be there to the end. But God says even those things can become idols. (Not that they will, but they can.) I have often wondered if God is testing me, to make sure my own parents are not my own idols.

And even when someone does have a spouse and children, that does not mean it's always the better scenario. I have several friends who are in what would be considered "happy," loving Christian marriages -- and half of them tell me, "Don't get married!" And these are people who have been married 20 - 30+ years, so they are far from rookies.

Being single is just a different kind of spiritual test, and a different kind of spiritual growth. We don't have certain "safety valves" in place, so guess what?

This just means we have to rely on God all the more in those areas. For most people, not having any idea of how or under what conditions you will die is a much bigger test. And I don't see anything in the Bible that says a bigger test from God is to be seen as a bad thing.

It probably won't be all that pleasant -- but God tells us to take up our crosses and carry them. What if dying alone will be my cross to carry?

But if it's how God chooses to work out the things in my life, including my own choices, who am I to question Him?

To be honest, Suze, when I read your last description, I immediately thought of a friend of mine.

She was going through a situation in which one of her children wanted to go live with their dad. He was the type of guy who was very personable and everyone liked on the surface, but also the type of guy who fled to another state to avoid paying child support. He contributed absolutely nothing to his children's care.

My friend was very upset that her child could only see the facade he put up and not how he really was, because this child was also always singing her father's praises (to cut her mother down), when he had put my friend through the ringer and back.

Now, I know I can't say much as a single gal with no children, but I told her what I felt God was telling me to say. I told her, "I know it's frustrating and I'm so sorry for everything this is putting you through, but you just watch. It's going to take time, but someday, (your child) is going to see what this guy is really all about."

The years passed.

But sure enough. This child grew into an adult, and watched their father repeatedly refuse to work, all while making more babies with more women along the way, continuing to abandon them just as he had abandoned my friend.

And I am NOT trying to say anything bad about men here, I'm just talking about one specific case. If anything, stories like this just make me appreciate the GOOD men out there all the more!!

Eventually, my friend told me about a day when her grown adult child said, "My Dad isn't amounting to anything!!"

It took about 10 years. But eventually, this child saw it all for themselves.

I'm certainly not saying this will be the case for your Mum...

But people like that have a way of telling on themselves, no matter how hard they try to keep all their stories about everyone else straight. That's the problem with having so much to say about everyone around you -- eventually, everything collides and starts spilling out.

Now whether the people involved choose to believe it or do anything about it is a different story, but I truly think, the farther away you are from all the, better off you are.

Blessings to you, Suze! 💖

It sure was the case with my mother and father. When they split I lived with mom. Mom was always tearing dad down something terrible.

But when I grew up I started respecting dad a lot more than mom. Dad never said one word against mom. Dad just kept keeping on, doing what he said he would do and living life the best he could.

I know this is an inverse example, lies about a good man instead of false impressions about a bad man. But still, the truth will always come out eventually.

Aaaaaaannnnnd you STILL miss the point....
It's the broad side of the barn and I'm handing out shotguns....but ya still missed the target of any part of the barn.

Christianity 101:
1)Love God
2) Love others.

BOTH laws are absolutely ridiculously crucial to perform. Cant do one and not the other. They work in concert. Inexplicably conjoined twins. Never able to separate.

Salt & Light

Salt
You are either absolutely desired and wanted by those in your neighborhood or you have failed in loving your neighbors. The day you die if you are not considered missing and looked for inside of 4 hours....you have FAILED in your relationship with Christ....meaning you never had one. Nobody considered your relationship with them as valuable....because you did not understand how they felt or received love. You obviously know how to make yourself feel loved....do you know how to get others to feel loved? We ALL want to feel loved....psychotics need not apply.

Light
Really? Beacon on a hill or candle hiding out under a basket?
How come people are not NEEDING you in your neighborhood to provide light in this gloom filled world on a DAILY basis?
How come they dont call or come by when you are MIA?

ALL these things are on YOU....not everyone else....YOU are the responsible party in these things.

And I'm hung up on shotguns and barns at the moment....
Birthday party out at the farm with skeet shooting, home made ice cream....lots of kids and fun. 7 boxes of ammo and 5 cases of skeet. And a brand new skeet launcher.....
Getcha sum you pesky skeet....

I'm sure your posts are useful for someone out there, John. Just because I don't find them to be very helpful, it doesn't mean they're not useful for others, so as I said to you in my other thread, keep going, as you wish.

And I know you certainly will.

There are some things about your posts I truly do enjoy -- like your sense of humor.

But as for all the doom and gloom, I'll be skipping over all of that.

In the Biblical story of the rich man and poor Lazarus, no one knew -- or cared -- who Lazarus was when he died, or even that he died. This was a man so overlooked by society that he was covered in sores -- and it was the dogs who attended his wounds, not other human beings.

And what does the Bible say?

"The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side." -- Luke 16: 22

And what happened to the rich man?

"In Hades, where (the rich man) was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, and Lazarus by his side." -- Luke 16: 23

WE all know this is not a matter of being materially rich or poor in this lifetime, but rather -- one man had a right relationship with God -- and the other did not.

I highly doubt that people noticed or came running "inside of 4 hours" (as you say in your post) when Lazarus died. And yet, He was carried into the presence of God.

Now I know people will say, "But this is just a parable -- an allegory, a made-up story -- Lazarus and the rich man didn't even exist! Maybe so.

But I'm not so sure.

One thing I'm certain of is that Jesus would not have told this story if it didn't accurately represent the nature of God. And even if these people weren't "real" in this form, I have no doubt that there are multitudes of other "Lazaruses" out there.

I personally believe that God created some people mostly as a test for others. Maybe some are disadvantaged, and some downright difficult -- simply because God wants to see how we treat them -- and that's the whole reason for their existence. I have long thought this about some, not all, but some, of the ailments we see in this life.

God Himself told Moses, "And the Lord said to him, 'Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord?'" -- Exodus 4:11

And I believe this can (not always, but sometimes) be true with any human condition we see as less than ideal -- the mentally ill, the narcissist, the differently abled, the physically stricken, and the homeless. Their whole purpose -- which might be pleasing to God -- is to be there as a test to other people -- and to His people in particular.

If that's the case, the people around him (like the rich man) obviously failed Lazarus. But that didn't matter. And it didn't matter that no one knew Lazarus when he died. Neighbors didn't rally around his body, nor was there any flashy "Celebration of Life" service held in his honor. But apparently to God, Lazurus' did exactly what he was supposed to do in life -- he ran his race to the end -- and God alone saw that worthy of His own eternal prize.

And I fully believe that even if Lazarus isn't a real person, this is how God sees, and will reward some people that the world misses. Even if they didn't have an "impact" on thousands of people who swarm in mourning mere minutes after noticing this beloved person is gone, God knows -- and will reward accordingly.

In other words, no, it doesn't matter how many people notice when you die, and no, it certainly doesn't mean you've "failed in your relationship with Christ" as you said.

I mentioned this in another post: I know people always say we aren't supposed to talk about our "good works" -- "Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing," -- Matthew 6:3, but I've always seen this as a matter of motivation. If one's motive is to gain approval, then no, don't mention it.

My motivation here is not approval, but an illustration of why I'm ok with dying alone, so I'm hoping I'll be ok with mentioning it.

The past few years, God has granted a lifetime prayer of mine. I've shifted into a stage of "pre-retirement" in my life, and I get a little more vacation time than I used to. I told God that if He ever answered that prayer, I would try my best to help the people I know who have been helping other people their entire lives. I know you can't bargain with God, but so far, He has graciously granted my request.

I have been using that time to fly to other states to assist my friends with their various needs -- like working at their businesses, for which they want to pay me like a regular worker, but I know God's answer -- "No, absolutely not. You bless everyone else -- God sent me here to bless you!" But I actually am being paid, as they generously supply room and board, and most importantly, their company.

I recently got back from a 6-week trip God called me to in order to help a married friend. She's caring for a group of people with everything from dementia to not being able to walk. It took a year to arrange the trip -- the timing never lined up -- but right after I got there, one person fell and broke bones, doubling my friend's workload, and I obviously knew why God had sent me at that time.

It was a very harrowing experience. But it was motivated purely by the love I have for my friend. Every time I heard her laugh at a corny joke I made (I actually prayed before the trip, "God, please make me funny enough!") was like hearing an angel sing.

All of my friends are in other states. People at my church don't really know me -- and so far, that's by my own choice. There are many scenarios in which I enjoy being anonymous. The people where I live don't know me -- and again, that's by choice. Because drugs like fentanyl are a common, everyday thing here -- the public areas are filled with clouds of smoke from various "herbs" -- and that's just not something I want anywhere near my life.

I'm sure there are some perfectly lovely people out there. But for myself, I feel safer being anonymous in all my living situations because when the parties break out (and I hear them,) I don't want any of them thinking (while strung out of their minds,) "Oh, let's go pay a visit to that girl who lives in **** (because I know her living situation and her schedule.)" No, thank you.

That's the thing about being single, especially as a woman. You have to be smart and stay aware, even if it means making a lot of social sacrifices and keeping to yourself.

Will this protect me from everything? Certainly not. But so far, keeping to myself and not letting local people know much about me has served me well.

If my family in this area dies before me, and I die alone in the corner of the place I live, what is that to me?

Yeah, it might be a mess for anyone who finds me, and I would truly be sorry for any inconvenience. But if I had any remaining family and friends, I have money saved to cover any expenses that would be involved in the cleanup, moving my things out, and of course, a funeral, if there should be one -- that would be up to them. I don't want anyone to have to worry about paying for my demise.

If God calls my relatives first, and I don't have the chance to move the thousands of miles away to where my friends are, if I die alone in this place -- and no one finds me in 4 hours -- have I failed at my relationship with God?

I'd like to think not.

If the testimonies of others count for anything, I know the friends I've tried my best to serve would certainly have something to say on my behalf.

But of course, in the end, it's up to God to decide.

Is there a chance I'm going to die alone someday, with no one in the immediate area caring or noticing -- especially not within 4 hours? Absolutely.

But God will know.

And maybe it's just my own arrogance in saying so, but I really don't think God will think I wasted my life -- and I surely hope He won't think I've failed in my relationship with Him.

But again, that's up to Him.

If you measure people's faith by how many people notice or show up when they die -- I'm pretty sure that's your own measurement, and certainly not God's.

But I'm sure you'll insist, "No, everything I'm telling you is directly in line with what God says -- you'll have to take it up with Him!" as you have said over the years.

And guess what?

I do.

And I'm pretty sure that God is ok with me not worrying about how many people show up -- within 4 hours -- when I die.

Even if one HAS made a huge impact on all the immediate impact on everyone around them -- that doesn't guarantee anyone will show up.

I know there are surely others out there who are afraid of dying alone. I just hope that some of these posts will give comfort to those who are feeing anxious about this -- you are not alone.

And, just like me, you serve the God who knows us -- from cradle to the grave -- and no matter what happens, He will be by our side.

I'm sure my kid's lives are trying enough in this fallen world without their parents putting demands on them. I would rather freeze to death with an empty stomach than be relying on any of my children for the basic necessities.

Since I raised my kids I think they would want to help if they could but I would do my best not to share my struggles with them if I wasn't doing well enough to cover food, clothing, shelter.

I'm sure your posts are useful for someone out there, John. Just because I don't find them to be very helpful, it doesn't mean they're not useful for others, so as I said to you in my other thread, keep going, as you wish.

Oh I was confident in your "doubling down"...you are "you" after all...

But "love your neighbor as yourself "

It has MANY points to that. More than you want to admit, especially to me, that you never considered before...because you have a very very specific agenda you want NO ONE to know...and somehow believe no one does. (Not migh yob to make you stop)

Where to everyone God has granted a measure of grace...someone just planted a big sack of it in your lap. But everyone is responsible for their measure. Especially when handing out drops with a dropper out of a huge reservoir behind a dam...as if you got nuthin.

But I'm interfering with your day...
Plenty of droppers to fill don't cha know.

The King of Doubling Down apparently gets upset -- when other people double down.

Duly noted.

To be honest, I have no idea what you're talking about in this post. I guess you're trying to say I'm doing something wrong by not inviting all my neighbors, along with everyone else and their mother, into my residence or my life in order to witness or bear service to them.

According to you, I am stingily handing out grace in mere droplets, even though I spend thousands of dollars of my own money serving people in other states every year. And no, it's not about money. But traveling at my own expense is one of the ways I dole out my "sack," as you apparently see it.

I'm not sure what you're expecting here. Am I suppose to somehow go through my life line by line, and see if I conduct it in a "worthy" enough manner -- according to you?

This is just me, but any single woman who lets a bunch of locals into her space, whether it be her home or her heart, has about as many survival instincts as a 3-legged sheep. This area is filled with those who will steal anything to feed their addictions. I live not far from a rehab center, and have been advised not to walk in certain places, even during the day.

But that's just me -- to each their own.

I'm very selective about who I reach out to, or who I allow into my life, and it has served me well. And I lavish the ones God holds tight in my life with all the love I have to give (which also means participating in the causes they're a part of that reach out to other people.)

This is another one of your classic hallmarks in your posts that long-time readers will recognize.

For years, you have accused me of having all kinds of secret agendas that only you seem to know about, because I certainly don't. But you have done this repeatedly and continuously in your replies. You've always accused me of having secrets I'm afraid people will find out about me, and you speak as if I'm somehow afraid of you spilling out all these dangerous, earth-shattering secrets.

Quite frankly, you don't sound sane when you start going off into this lane. I get the image of a religious madman drooling and shaking his righteous fist at me.

I have also asked you repeatedly what these secret agendas are, but you never answer that part or list them out.

Please do so, because I have nothing to hide -- and I'd like to be the first one in line to learn what they are.

As I've said before, and will probably have to say again, I wish you wouldn't post in my threads -- at least, not without telling me what my own secret agendas are -- but I have no control over that, and of course, you have free will.

It takes a very special person indeed, to keep barging in when I have said many times that I wish you would not post in my threads.

People like you are exactly why I'm so particular about who I associate with -- because some people will never take "No" as an answer, and will just keep showing up.

Anyone repeatedly ignoring and forcing their way through is just not someone to listen to.

(And for anyone reading, no, I don't feel I can put anyone on Ignore because I've found that when you write threads, you have to see what's going on in order to keep up. But I would if I could.)

John, of course, is welcome to put me on Ignore anytime.

But I know he won't do that, either.

He has to accuse me of having all these secrets, whatever they may be, because only he seems to know about them.

P.S. I wrote 4 threads yesterday.

I was sure you were going to show up in at least one of them (I would have encouraged people to place bets, but that would be a sin) -- I just wasn't sure which one.

You like to insert yourself into threads as The Main Character, and those with Main Character Syndrome can't resist stages for very long. It was only a matter of time.

Don't worry, I have plenty more on the way -- it's just a matter of finding the time and energy to fill them (so many droppers to fill, as you would say!)

Always a new place for you to dance, though I keep asking you to find set up your very own dance halls to stomp your feet in.

It's almost a pity that we can't be friends. I'd make a great assistant in your threads -- if you started writing them.

Very early on in your career here, I used to see you as a cool uncle, sitting in a rocking chair on the porch, dishing out witty sayings.

But not long after that, your posts started reminding me of Russell Crowe in "A Beautiful Mind."

Yes, there's a lot of sad, scary things going on in the world.

But when that becomes your main focus -- and you start accusing everyone else of being the ones holding secrets -- it just might be time for a vacation.

We can always count on you to see the bad in people. You always blame us for everything.

You're like a blame ninja. No matter the situation, you are very agile and can always turn on a dime to throw the blame on the person you're speaking to.

There was a time when I wanted to have 4 kids -- 2 by birth, and 2 by adoption. Naturally, adopting was important to me since I am adopted -- I always think it's important to continue the cycle.

But my then-husband decided he wanted to have kids with someone else, so... No worries.

I told God, if He was willing, I'd like to be financially responsible enough to sponsor 4 kids through my old adoption agency. I know it has absolutely nothing on raising kids yourself, but it was something.

I do what I can, and it varies from year to year.

And I always ask for the older ones, the ones everyone forgets and leaves behind, because people are very rarely willing to adopt a child over 2 years old. Everyone wants the babies.

My best year, I was able to sponsor 20 children -- God gave me lots of droppers that year, you see.

I always ask for the kids who have been in the system the longest, the ones who have been waiting for or need a sponsor more than anyone else.

I was born an underdog, and my heart will always be with the underdogs.

This year, I wasn't able to do as much -- I'm currently sponsoring 8 children. IF things go well, I'll be able to up that next year.

I suppose to you, that doesn't amount to anything worthy -- because there will always be some other level you're going to tell me I need to meet.

This past year, for the first time ever, I was contacted and told that one of my sponsored kids passed away. That's the first time in about 30 years of sponsoring children that I was told one of my kids had died. She was 15 years old, and I was told it was an illness. Her brother was raising her, because both of their parents had been killed in a war.

In your eyes, I'm apparently doing nothing with my life, or at least, not to your standards.

But you are not God.

And I know this means something to God, and it most certainly means something to these kids and their families.

We can always count on you to see the bad in people. You always blame us for everything.

I'm not afraid of anyone seeing the "bad" in me -- there's plenty there if people think it's that interesting to look at! It's the people who see the bad -- and decide to stay anyway -- who are the ones you know you can trust.

But someone who doesn't know anything about me except what I've posted here, yet claims he knows all my secret agendas?!

Shoot, start writing out that list and keep going, because I'm just as curious as everyone else! All I ask is that you give me enough time to make popcorn and cook a pizza, because I'm sure it's bound to be the best entertainment of the year!

Now, do I have things I'm not so proud of? Of course! But may I be so bold as to think everyone does.

It's just that the only ones here who have any dirt on me are Lynx, Rodney, Cinder, and Pipp, and any others are no longer on CC.

This is also why I've never dated anyone on the site -- no one else has anything on me to "reveal."

But if the people I just listed DO ever start spilling some beans...

That's why I know I'm in REAL trouble! 😆
