Why, do you think is the reason that boys/men generally don't ever bother to read books written by women about women or girls? Or watch chick flicks?

When girls/women are open to reading books written by men of any genre, and most of them tend to be about men or boys as the main protagonist. We females can and do watch action and adventure flicks. We don't snub them.

I've noticed this as a librarian that books can have a gender divide that is quite marked. No boy for example would be caught dead reading The Baby-sitters Club books. (Had one boy that did, he kept it secret)

Not sure about meet the parents
Never saw Shanghai Noon
And Wedding Crashers is not one I would recommend for Christians due to scenes of nudity and sexuality. It is one I would advise you to burn.

Never seen all of Wedding Crashers. I think it had Vincent Vaughan in it and I don't care for him. I couldn't sit through a movie with him.
Owen Wilson was also in a move with Reese Witherspoon though I can't remember the title. He played an obnoxious jock (in movies, all jocks are obnoxious) though Reese gets the better of him, as she always does in her romcoms. when she's not playing an uptight soccer mom.

Most movies in NZ have ratings, and will tell you if they have sex scenes, nudity, coarse language, violence etc in them, so you know what you are getting or risking your eyes for should you choose to see it.

What do you think of the Old Testament? Too much sex scenes and nudity? Would you recommend Christians read it?
 
What is your testimony? How did you become a christian? What it is about Jesus you like/believe?

My sister had a lot of those BSC books. I was pretty big on reading when I was a kid, so I tried to read a couple. I couldn't really care about the main characters. They all cared about the kind of stuff that the girls in my high school cared about, which was meaningless to me.

My sister also had the BSC books.
Kristy was a bossy boots. Mary Anne was a cry-baby. Claudia was a fashionista, Stacey was boy-crazy. Pretty simple characterization, and that was like that for the entire series.

Well first of all their are not photos, just descriptions, I would definately say its not suitable for kids. Yes I would recommend Christians read it, it lays out the rules and laws around sex and moral guidance, as well as the out comes for unethical or immoral behaviour.

Well I grew up in a secular home, I didn't know Christ growing up, I got picked on and teased in school, my parents divorced when I was a teen and then they told me their was no santa or easter bunny so they picked a lousey time to tell me they lied to me my whole life at that time.

at 17 I got kicked out of the house, spent 2 years homeless, had 3 criminal convitions by the time I was 18, but during my time in a group home I was using a ouija board, I contacted a spirit named hosanna, and it told me I would get in to legal trouble and the charges would get thrown out, and shortly after I moved in with an abusive woman who belonged to a gang, I tried to defend myself and she and her family had me arrested, I spent 3 days in jail, I spent 7 months on bail, and finally the charges got thrown out like the board predicted, that got my attention to the reality of the existance of spirits.

I moved back to my home town, ran into an old friend who I knew was a christian and went to church, he introduced me to his pastor, I heard the gospel and 2 years later I made a genuine profession of faith and got saved. Jesus has transformed my life in ways I didn't think possible, I wrote a book, but don't have the money to get it published.

Wow hope it's published some day. Even if its e-book would be interesting. Don't know how much it costs though.

Couldn't you ask your church for help? If it's your testimony. Like talk to your pastor about it, a lot of pastors get their writing published. They might know someone or the church could raise funds. Or maybe you already have. IDK.

One church I went to several members had their books published, so ? What did God tell you to do? Surely you prayed about it. If He wants it published He'd provide the funds, and the exact amount.
 
well that is the thing, my home church is in Cambridge, I have not transferred my membership since I left in 2020.

I have tried asking friends and family, I mean people think I am interesting, inspiring, etc.. .but no one thinks my book is worth investing in, if I had the money I would do it myself, but I don't I can't even find a job.

Even on linked in, I have people who send me email saying they want to hire me and then tell me I have to see a resume specialist and want me to pay for it, or that I have to pay for part of my training to work for them....

no one will let me sign up or raise funds to do mission trips, I mean what do you do when the whole bloody world has an unwritten rule that you cannot work or get off social assistance?

IDK, think a lot of people come across barriers like that, and resign themselves to it. A disability allowance and a benefit can be a Godsend though at least it allows you to live day to day, so at least you not on the streets.

Sorry I can't be more positive, lots of people have been struggling to find work, even able bodied people with qualifications. Lay offs happen and then those who are made redundant struggle and can't find steady work for maybe years. Their skills and knowledge are dismissed. Their cultural capital, may be a disadvantage. I wish I knew the answer, here we had a 'brain drain' those that were able, left the country to find work. Mostly to Australia, which is the nearest country.
 
I once worked for a CV company, making resumes and CVS for people (who were mostly laid off) and it paid me...$20 an hour (which was kind of ok then, well above minimum wage for me) But the CV company charged these people who were out of work and needed a CV done, something like $250 to get it made?!
 
Question, what's the thing you most like to do in your spare time? Apart from posting on CC of course.
 
Have you sent your manuscript to any Christian publishers? Thats the thing to do, and most writers will experience rejection as publishers can't publish everything...but you never know until you try.

There's this Christian publisher in NZ maybe you can enquire they might know of a Canadian Christian publisher . I don't think it's a pay for publisher like a self-publishing outfit. It's a traditional publisher meaning it will pay you, not the other way round. Don't fall for the scam of self-publishing.
